All We Know About ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 8

The “Game of Thrones” craze is real, its fire stoked every time a two second teaser is released or someone utters the phrase “Winter is coming.” It’d be frustrating if it weren’t so impressive.

HBO recently confirmed via Twitter that the final season will air in April 2019 and will consist of only six episodes, making this their shortest season ever.

The surprise trailer doesn’t feature any new footage, only some of the show’s most iconic moments and a trendy new hashtag, which is still enough to drive people insane with emotion.

Even though HBO hasn’t confirmed anything other than the premiere date, fans and critics have speculated that episodes are going to run longer than previous seasons, with some having the length of a feature film. David Nutter, one of “Game of Thrones”’ favorite directors, confirmed this on a Reddit AMA where he discussed his experience with the show and said that all episodes last over an hour. “They’ll be dancing around the bigger numbers, I know that for sure.”

Nutter has directed notable “Game of Thrones” episodes such as “Rains of Castamere,” the episode that features the Red Wedding. “As far as season 8 compared to the Red Wedding I just have to tell you – hang onto your seat cause it’s going to be special,” he said.

He also spoke a bit about season 8 as a whole, claiming that what he’s seen is very compelling and that the finale is going to leave fans satisfied. “I think that David and Dan did a tremendous job, and they took into consideration what the fans want, as well as what is right as far as storytelling is concerned. I guarantee there’s going to be lots of surprises and shocking moments, but it’s really very compelling stuff.”

David Nutter will be directing three episodes of the final season of “Game of Thrones”,  including the premiere.
