A set of California grown and packed avocados that have already been shipped to different states are currently being recalled over possible listeria contamination.
Henry Avocado Company explains that the avocados have been shipped to Florida, California, Wisconsin, Arizona, North Carolina and New Hampshire. Despite the FDA’s intervention, no illnesses have been associated with these avocados. They’re issuing these recalls as a precaution since the company’s packing plant tested positive for listeria, and no evidence claims that the bacteria is inside the vegetable, only that it was found adjacent to them.
If you live in one of the above mentioned states you may have to brave through a few weeks of avocado-less toast. The recall affects avocados packed in the facility on January 2019, so you’re in the clear if you consumed these avocados in 2018.

“We are voluntarily recalling our products and taking every action possible to ensure the safety of consumers who eat our avocados,” said Phil Henry, president of Henry Avocado, in an FDA statement.
Listeria is a bacteria that’s been associated with fever and diarrhea, making affected people feel pretty crappy for a while. It can be found in other veggies and it affects an estimated 1,600 Americans every year.
