Moviepass gained over a million users in seven weeks when they decided to commit to a subscription service that offered one movie a day for 10 bucks a month. Managed by Mitch Lowe, ex-co-founder of Netflix, Moviepass is a crazy business experiment that tried to be the Netflix of movie theaters.

During the past week the Moviepass app crashed leading to thousands of angry people. The company’s new peak pricing feature began posting out of control prices, forcing users to pay an extra charge of $8 if they wanted to watch a popular movie in theaters.

After a couple of days of radio silence the company released a statement, claiming that would be changing their business model in order to adapt and survive. Now, blockbuster movies won’t be available for purchase until they’ve been in theaters for two weeks. Members now have to pay $15 for their monthly subscription. The company’s problems are obvious and it’s a miracle that they’re still hanging on.

While no one knows if Moviepass will exist within a year, it’s true is that it’s changed forever. The too good to be true deal is over. Now there’s limitations, elevated prices, and the need for subscribers to change their plans according to what Moviepass is offering.

If you’ve been along for the Moviepass ride and think you’ve reached your boiling point, you’re not alone. Here’s what you can do to cancel your subscription.

Log in your Moviepass app and tap on the Account tab. Tap on Account Plan and then select Plan & Billing Info. You’ll reach a Cancel button, which, when accessed, will take you to a reason for cancellation screen. Here, you’ll have to explain why you’ve decided to cancel your subscription. Once you cancel, Moviepass lets you know that you won’t be able to create a new account or restart yours within the next nine months.
