People Flipped Out Over KFC Sunscreen

If you’re not one of the thousands of people who snapped up a bottle of KFC fried chicken-scented sunscreen, you’re too late. On Monday, the fast-food chain gave away all 3,000 buckets bottles of their novelty SPF in two hours. And there’s no word whether or not they’re going to make any more.

This promotion is the newest in a string of one-upmanship stunts that fast-food chains seem to be competing in lately.

Unlike the KFC edible nail polish that became a big hit earlier this year, the company advises not to eat the sunscreen. They also warn that “The only skin that should be extra crispy this summer is on your fried chicken.” KFC. Always looking out for our health!

Here’s the promotional video they used for the sunscreen, featuring George Hamilton as a deeply-tanned Colonel Sanders. Yes, it’s real. And it’s pretty funny.

Business Insider got a hold of one of the bottles and describes the scent as “smelling like everything from maple syrup, to savory spices, to Milk Bar‘s cereal milk.” They also hint that this is not the last of the KFC products. Lucky us.
