In a stunning turn of events, the Texas Senate unanimously approved the expansion of the state’s medical marijuana program to include more qualifying conditions and make the process easier for patients.
Recently, state chapters of national political parties have used marijuana to advance their agenda by making marijuana legalization as part of their party platform.
This past weekend the state’s Republican Party passed a platform that includes marijuana decriminalization and an expansion of the Compassionate Use Act.
With the midterm elections fast approaching, politicians have hit the campaign trail. Many key battles are being waged throughout the country, and we’re seeing cannabis emerge as a significant platform issue.
A small act of history occurred this week in Texas as the state had its first legal marijuana purchase. The customer? A six-year-old girl from central Texas, whose name is being withheld for privacy purposes.
Back in 2015 Texas approved the Compassionate Use Act, which authorized the usage of CBD oil for patients with intractable epilepsy.
Thanks to the Compassionate Use Act, Texas will join the 29 states where medical marijuana is legal and available in some form.
Thanks to the Compassionate Use Act, those suffering from epilepsy will soon have legal access to cannabis at Texas medical marijuana dispensaries.
