Hawaii Senate Majority Leader J. Kalani English’s recreational marijuana bill died over the weekend as it missed a key deadline, despite serious support for the legislation from Democrats.
The 2020 presidential hopeful introduced the Marijuana Justice Act back in 2017, but it never made it out of the Senate. The bill would reschedule cannabis and legalize it at the federal level.
A study published in the Scientific Reports journal found that THC displayed the “strongest correlation with therapeutic relief, compared to the more socially acceptable chemical found in cannabis, CBD (cannabinol).”
