The Queen’s granddaughter recently announced her engagement to her longtime boyfriend. And now that royal watchers seem to be whispering her name, it’s probably a good time to learn how to pronounce it.
Naturally, most people pronounce it as it appears: yoo-JEE-nee. But, the correct pronunciation is not even close. According to her mother, Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, it’s pronounced “YOO-juh-nee.” Like, eulogy.

According to The Sun, the 27-year old, who’s eighth in line for the British throne, said that when she was a child, her mom had an interesting way of getting people to pronounce her name correctly.
Whenever we used to meet foreign people who were struggling with it, my mum and I would help them by saying, ‘It’s like Use Your Knees.’
“But whatever,” she said, “I am now used to every pronunciation.”
