Boxing legend Mike Tyson is shopping around a new TV show loosely based on his own life as a marijuana grower. It’s called “Rolling With the Punches” and, according to Page Six, a sizzle reel has already made the rounds at some of the top networks.
The show features Tyson’s real-life bodyguard, Chuck Zito, and comedian Russell Peters as Tyson’s “useless best friend.” It’ll be shot at Tyson Ranch in El Segundo, CA — a 40 acre plot of land that not only grows pot, but features a cultivation school, an edible factory, cabins and “glamping” options for “stoner tourists.”
“It’s simple. I’m playing a retired boxer who is growing marijuana,” Tyson told Page Six. “It’s basically me acting like me, so people can get a look at what my life could be like in different scenarios.”
According to Page Six, Tyson Ranch merch will make cameos on the show, thwarting the ban on advertising pot products.
If it wasn’t already clear, Tyson is a big marijuana proponent, dropping truth bombs about how the majority of pro athletes use some form of cannabis for pain relief and anxiety. Tyson himself admitted that “I smoke it all day, every day.”
Tyson’s business partner Rob Hickman said he expects the show to be on air within five months.
