The National – Hairpin Turns

With their new album’s release date approaching, The National has been releasing songs set to remarkable music videos. “Hairpin Turns” is thoughtful and pensive, a feeling that is accurately represented in the music video, which is directed by filmmaker and musician Mike Mills. In it, the band members are performing the song in isolation, showing us all the pieces that make up the song in a way that’s completely unique. The upcoming album is called “I Am Easy To Find,” and it’ll be released on May 17.

Carly Rae Jepsen – Too Much

“Too Much” is the fifth song from Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Dedicated,” her upcoming album. It stays in tune with her style, dripping with excess and emotion, but it also shows a different make up and production than the other songs that are part of “Dedicated,” at least the ones we’ve heard.”Too Much” wears the influence of other genres more openly, showing us a different side of a singer who’s so comfortable in her style that her songs can blur together. This single is the most distinct among the five songs she’s released during the past couple of months.

Justin Bieber & Ed Sheeran – I Don’t Care

Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran’s second contribution is produced by Max Martin, who’s worked on Ariana Grande’s last records and with millions of other pop artists. His spark and effervescence is completely lost on “I Don’t Care,” a song about bad parties and social anxiety that’s tepid and boring. Still, the quality of the song didn’t stop it from breaking all sorts of Spotify records.
