Calling the 2001 movie Super Troopers a cult classic is like saying a soft pretzel is a denomination of bread. Like, sure, I see what you’re going for there. But you’re just using familiar language to explain why weirdos love their insular toys and food.
(If you’re about to argue something like soft pretzels persist as a staple of German beer houses and sporting events yet refuse to acknowledge how downright strange football fans and Germans as a collective whole are, then we’re pretty much done here.)
Regardless, for the weirdos of the world, myself included, that Super Troopers would be releasing a sequel was something to cheer. The folks at Broken Lizard were able to raise $2 million in funding over the course of 24 hours through crowdfunding efforts. That guaranteed fans they would produce another movie starring everyone’s favorite Vermont Highway Patrol.
But that news came back in 2015. Now they’ve dropped a trailer to the movie and announced a release date: 4/20 of next year. We trust you weirdos to know what that means.
