Willie Nelson Expands Cannabis Brand With CBD Products

On some level you almost wonder what more Willie Nelson can do in the cannabis world. All at once he is the intelligible cannabis activist, the ganjaprenuer, and the stoner’s stoner. And if the previous accomplishments weren’t enough for you, he’s also a country music icon. And Willie Nelson continues to expand his cannabis empire. Through his well-known Willie’s Reserve cannabis brand, the country star continues to add diverse produce.  Now Willie Nelson expands cannabis brand with CBD products.

According to a press release, the first Willie’s Reserve CBD product will be a CBD-infused, whole-bean coffee for your morning pick me up. Infused with hemp-derived CBD oil, an 8 oz. cup of Willie’s coffee will carry around 5 milligrams of CBD oil.

“It’s two of my favorites, together in the perfect combination,” Nelson said in a release. “Like coffee, cannabis is a plant that works for me.”

The product will first launch this September in Colorado, and the brand has plans to unveil other CBD products later this year. Nelson says in the release that the move is motivated by shifting laws around hemp and the necessity to educate about the benefits of using CBD oil and hemp.

“Hemp production was suppressed in America because hemp was competitive to too many industries. The country probably missed some opportunity during hemp prohibition,” says Nelson. “But another way to look at it is that hemp is the answer to [a] huge range of challenges we’re facing right now. Allowing commercial hemp farming will create jobs for the farmers.”
