One of Meghan Markle’s royal aids has reportedly quit her just job six months after Markle married into the royal family. Only known as Melissa, the assistant decided to leave her position following a busy couple of months when Harry and Meghan went on their royal tour and announced that they were expecting a baby.
A palace source spoke to the Daily Mail and said that Melissa was very important to Kensington Palace, calling her “a hugely talented person” who “played a pivotal role in the success of the royal wedding.” The source also says that Melissa was one of Markle’s closest aids. “It’s a real shock. Why would she want to leave such a prestigious job so soon?”
Kensington Palace has declined to make further comments and has not made an official statement.
On Monday, Vanity Fair reported that Harry and Meghan were also looking for a private secretary since Edward Lane Fox, the guy who previously held the position, resigned at the end of the summer and has left them with a few staff members missing.
For now, Samantha Cohen, the Queen’s former private secretary and close friend of Prince Harry, has temporarily taken over the missing staff members’ duties.
