Weed Makes Seth Rogen ‘So Smart, So Focused, So Creative,’ Say Charlize Theron

Anyone who’s ever enjoyed a smoke session in a college dorm room likely had a philosopher guy in their group. He was the dude who, as soon as he lit up, would begin rhapsodizing about Nietzsche or the consequences of Einstein’s Theory of Relativity. Memorably, this moment was captured in Richard Linklater’s 2016 film Everybody Wants Some!!

“What is language? Language is a construct man, you know,” says Wyatt Russell’s Willoughby in the film, like he’s the first guy who ever said this ever.

In Hollywood circles that guy is apparently Seth Rogen, according to Charlize Theron. During an appearance on The Tonight Show to promote the pair’s new rom-com Long Shot, Fallon unsurprisingly brought up Rogen’s weed habits. “He comes across as a stoner but he really puts a lot of thought into everything,” said Fallon.

Theron went on to praise Rogen’s understanding of story structure and writing, adding, “and then he lit a joint and took a hit off it. And it was like I was in the presence of Einstein. It was off the charts.”

Apparently when Rogen smokes weed, “he gets so smart, he gets so focused, he gets so creative. On days I would literally follow him and [beg him,] ‘Please smoke. We need a hit. We need this movie to be great, please.’”

So to all you wise guy stoners at there, you should now recognize Seth Rogen as your philosopher king. Or something like that.
