This Is The Crazy Effect Meghan Markle Is Having On Baby Names

Meghan Markle’s reach has far extended beyond the palace walls. She’s so popular, more babies are being named “Meghan” than ever before.

After Markle and Prince Harry got married, the name Meghan (with an “h”) spiked 49-percent, according to the website Baby Center, which assumes her own baby’s name will also be influential in 2019.

When Markle and Harry’s in-laws, Prince William and Kate Middleton, welcomed baby Louis in April, the name jumped 17-percent in popularity for boys.

It’s also expected that the assumed offspring of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, who got hitched in October, will also play a role in influencing baby names when/if it arrives.

In related news, according to International Business Times, the “Meghan Markle Effect” has also extended its tastemaker status to fashion. Global fashion search platform Lyst reports searches for halter neck dresses were up by 40-percent after her royal wedding in May. The term “halter neck tops” spiked 20 percent.
