Clooneys Expect To Be Godparents Of New Royal Baby

The Duke and Duchess’s new baby is causes all sorts of excitement among the royal couple’s friends. Celebrity pals Gayle King, The Beckhams and more are gushing and cooing to be even closer with the ducal family.  But the word it the Clooneys expect to be godparents of the new royal baby.

The Daily Mail spoke exclusively to the actor’s cousin, Ben Breslin, who said that Clooney would “make a wonderful godfather, he’d make a wonderful just about anything – he’s a good guy.” But Breslin says George isn’t the main reason the couple is considering him to be a godparent. It’s his better half. “Amal is beautiful and wonderful and a great addition to our family. We’ve loved her ever since we met her. He sure picked a winner with her.”

According to Breslin, other family “insiders” reveal that George considers himself almost a ‘shoo-in’ to be asked by the royal couple.

George and Amal are close with Meghan and Harry, even flying them in a private jet to their Italian compound on Lake Como after they got royally hitched in May. Nice wedding gift, eh?

Plus, the Hollywood couple has two kiddos of their own — one-year-old twins — so they’re old hat at this parenting business.

A source close to both famous couples told DailyMail.com: “Amal and Meghan have been close for years, and Harry and George have become buddies because of that. They’re much closer than the headlines let on.”

The same source tells the site that George Clooney has already “told a couple of people he has a strong hunch” that he and Amal will be among those asked to be godparents to the new royal Sussex baby.

According to The Daily Mail, Harry and Meghan are expected to attend a dinner party next month at George and Amal’s London home, with Barack and Michelle Obama on the star-studded guest list. Yowza. You wonder if the Clooneys expect to be godparents of the new royal baby before or after the soiree?
