Commonly known as a wiener dog or sausage dog, with its long-backed body and low silhouette, the dachshund is one of the more lovable purebred dogs. Despite its small size, the dachshund’s loud bark and tireless personality make it an ideal watch dog.
The larger wiener comes in standard size with a weight of 16-32 pounds, and the smaller miniature wiener at 11 pounds or less. And they exhibit one of three coat types: smooth, wirehair, or longhair.
