Why does so much weird stuff happen on local news? While we can’t answer that question, one British kid couldn’t help continuing the trend when the local news station came to the neighborhood.
In the bucolic UK town of Kent, KMTV reporter Cameron Tucker was covering an illegal cannabis grow house. Tucker appears the consummate professional, plain-faced and evenly toned, as he reports the story. But one teenager couldn’t resist the opportunity to prank the journalist and most of the media world.
As Tucker begins his report, the teenager walks from behind the house carrying a leafy green plant. When the teen notices the camera and reporter, he appears spooked, and takes off sprinting. You might quickly assume it to be a cannabis plant on first glance, considering the circumstances.
Upon further review, it looks like a brilliant troll job from the teenager. The plant doesn’t really look much like a cannabis plant. But that didn’t dissuade major media platforms like Jimmy Kimmel and BBC from playing the clip and joking about the cannabis plant.
For the record, Tucker attested this prank wasn’t set up by himself or the news station. Since the teen ran off, the reporters didn’t have a chance to interview him after the fact about his intention behind the stunt.
Kudos are in order here. First to the teen for pulling the whole thing off but also to Tucker for staying calm under the circumstances.
