The main concern with leaving water out for too long is that it will lose its freshness and develop a slightly off taste due to absorbed carbon dioxide from the air. While it is generally safe to leave water out for a day or so, leaving it exposed for extended periods can increase the risk of airborne contaminants settling into the glass, especially in dusty environments.Â
