If you can believe it, the cute little guy in the photos above was once an abandoned and homeless pup. “He was such a mess – super skinny, heavily matted, dirty,” his owner Ivy Diep told Bored Panda. But soon after his rescue, Popeye the dog was fully healthy and enjoying life with Diep’s family.
“It wasn’t long before he made himself at home at my place with my other dogs,” Diep said. “And of course, my husband and I fell in love [with him].”
At the suggestion of a friend, Diep began an Instagram account for Popeye caled PopeeyeTheFoodie. “One of my friends, Jen, suggested that I create an Instagram account for Popeye because he was cute,” she said. “Jen and I liked to go on what we call ‘Instagram dates’ and take pics of our food. I’d bring Popeye any time I can.”
Photos of the Popeye at restaurants went viral, and his account now has more than 108,000 followers. But how does the formerly homeless pup behave around so much people food?
“He doesn’t lunge for food or really even care for it,” Diep said. “He just liked to be out. He’ll get nibbles of anything that’s safe for him. I also carry a bag of treats for him, in case there’s nothing he can have.”
