Can I Toss Cannabis Into A Salad?

A reader asked us, can I toss fresh, raw cannabis into my salad….and here is our answer

A reader asked us if they can use raw cannabis in a salad.  The answer is yes, but why?

if you are wanting to enjoy the effects of marijuana, it doesn’t make much sense to eat it raw.

The effects of marijuana come from its active ingredients: delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabidiol (CBD), and cannabigerol (CBG). These three ingredients are not naturally present in marijuana. They occur as a result of a chemical process called decarboxylation. With exposure to light or heat from smoking or baking, the carboxylic acid group detaches. This process is called decarboxylation. Without the carboxylic acid group, these three compounds have the potential to cause a therapeutic effect. It is only then that THC can result in a high.

Another semi-trend seen online is the marijuana smoothie which is just another form of having raw cannabis. When incorporating raw cannabis into your diet, there are side effects to consider, including allergic reactions, possible ingestion of insecticides and pesticides, and compromised immune system from possible pathogenic exposure. Consuming raw cannabis isn’t the best solution for fast symptom relief.

Researchers are interested in raw weed, but there the difficulty associated with studying the effects of THCA is its instability. The carboxylic acid group detaches easily from the compound.

For example, researchers have demonstrated that THCA is unstable in ethanol. After 10 days at 77ºF (25ºC), only 33% trusted source of the THCA remained in ethanol. Losses of THCA even occurred after freezing.

Although researchers suggest that there are many possible medicinal uses of raw weed, they must ensure its stability to prevent THCA from converting quickly to THC, which causes a high.

Back to the salad, we surveyed a group of people about eating raw cannabis and found only one who had it natural.  Brandon in Seattle once had to quickly hide his stash so he ate it and said the flavor wasn’t that good. Brandon continued to say “given all the hybrids out there now, I’m sure the taste has improved. There are things I’ve smoked that would probably taste better.”  There are many way to consume marijuana, including in both sweet and savory foods.  A company call DeepCell Industries developed a cannabis salt that can be used on a salad and give a better experience.  We suggest exploring those before having it raw.

Spring Is Here, Time to Plant Tomatoes, Cannabis And Marigolds

The sun is out, the temperatures are up and it is time to start your garden!

It is the time of year you body craves the sun and your mouth begins watering for freshly grown vegetables.  Yes, spring is here, time to plant tomatoes, cannabis and marigolds.

Nothing is better than a fresh tomato sandwich, pasta sauce, or even cherry tomatoes popped into your mouth!  Marigolds can liven up a yard, a table or a romantic bedside table. And marijuana can bring a smile, a laugh and even a little fun next to the bedside marigolds.

While tomatoes do not grow exactly like cannabis, for planting purposes, they are almost identical. Mid-May is the planting season for all three and here are some tips.

Tomatoes, marijuana and marigolds need full sun; at least 6 hours or more of direct sunlight daily is best, and they require consistent moisture, so access to a water supply will make growing easier on you. They also require good drainage, air circulation and consistent soil moisture will help prevent disease. For tomatoes, if you are planting in the ground, protection for bunnies and other critters that finding them equally appealing.

Find the right seedling or plant, use a reliable source and make sure everything looks healthy.

Like Real Housewives, tomatoes and cannabis will compete – for the sun and spotlight, so do not place then near each other.  Additionally, fallen tomatoes can be acidic (like some Real Housewives) and that is not good for the soil around marijuana or marigolds. Give them all room to grow.

When you’re ready to plant, begin by soaking the plant – if a seedling ( in a 4” pot – in a solution of liquid seaweed or root stimulator. Then dig the planting hole, sprinkle a balanced in a fertilizer and fill with good soil. (Alternatively, you can sprinkle fertilizer around the plant in a ring after planting). Some people swear by fish fertilizer, it is iffy but can do the job.

Next, prune a few lower leaves off the plant and plant it deep, so that the bottom of the stem is under the soil. Additional roots will grow from the stem. Finally, water the plant thoroughly, watering around the base and try keeping water off the leaves.

Next, let them grow and mature.  For tomatoes it is 50-80 days, cannabis 57-84 days and marigolds about 55 days. Water in the morning and keep tools clean to avoid pests and fungal diseases. Drip irrigation works well to keep water off the leaves.

In the heat of summer, you may need to water twice a day, especially for tomatoes grown in containers. Remember to after the first fruits have started to develop and reapply every two weeks thereafter.

Monitor your plants daily for any appearance of pests or diseases and always use organic sprays or soapy water. Some gardeners believe that “companion planting” – planting certain herbs or flowers in an edible garden – can control pests, but this technique can only work when the companion plants are heavily planted in a mass.

When they have matured, pick and enjoy, knowing you have created this little piece of joy yourself!

Does Marijuana Play A Role In Mass Shootings?

Fox News, the New York Post and more claim marijuana is a factor leading to violence – but is it true?

Certain segments of American has been quick to point the blame of mass shooting to everything from marijuana to video games to side doors.  As May 2023 starts, the US has had more than 200 mass shootings.  The discussion around addressing this uniquely American problem is coming to the forefront.  Most people want an easy answer, and for some, marijuana is the cause of all the problems.  The trouble is, data doesn’t back them up. Does marijuana play a role in mass shootings?

Cannabis use, and especially heavy cannabis consumption, has been on the rise since 1992, and the national homicide rates have fallen more than 50% over the same time.

A 2013 Rand Corporation study commissioned by the federal government found that “marijuana use does not induce violent crime, and the links between marijuana use and property crime are thin.”

Experts are skeptical about the supposed connection between marijuana and violence. Marijuana use is higher in young men, people with serious adverse childhood experiences, antisocial personality, low income, low education and use of other illicit substances. All of these are well known risk factors for violence in their own right.

So yes, many mass shooters have proven to be marijuana users, experts said. But that doesn’t mean pot made them pull the trigger.  They also watch violent movies, eat fast food and take hot baths, but that doesn’t give the motive or means to shoot up an outlet mall.

A study published in The Economic Journal in 2017 found that states on the US-Mexico border that legalized medical marijuana saw a decrease in violent crimes of 5.6 to 12.5 percent. And in Colorado and Washington, it had little to do with crime rates.  Mass shootings do not regularly occur in countries where marijuana is legal other than the United States.

Champions of marijuana being the cause of violence and leading to mass shooting cite a book by Alex Berenson. But the book has been a source of controversy since it was published. The book uses flawed methodology and data.  A public letter signed by 100 scholars and clinicians refuted findings and accused Berenson of cherry-picking data and presenting correlation as causation.

Katherine Newman, System Chancellor for Academic Programs, the Senior Vice President for Economic Development at UMass Amherst and the author of a book on school shootings. “There is no link whatsoever between marijuana and extreme violence.”

With regards to video games, a UK study published in February 2019 was based on interviews with 1,004 British 14- and 15-year-olds and their caregivers. The teens were asked about their gaming and the adults who cared for them were asked about the teens’ behavior.

“Violent video game engagement is not associated with adolescents’ aggressive behavior,” the study concluded.

Similarly, a 2018 study by Stetson and Florida State University researchers found that the role of violent video games “in the development of youth psychopathology or crime is very little, if any.”

Facts and information matter when it comes to the lives of our fellow citizens.

Studies Shows Legal Marijuana Has Positive Effect On This Group

In each state fight to legalize marijuana, the cry comes up “what about the kids”.  Now two new research studies give an answer to the question.  And the doomsayers are not going to be pleased with the result. Studies show legal marijuana has positive effect on this group.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS), published recently, found that teen use of all monitored substances—including marijuana, alcohol and prescription drugs—has “decreased linearly” over the past decade.

The federal study shows high school student use was trending up from 2009-2013—before legal marijuana dispensaries started opening—but has been generally on the decline since then. The first state recreational legalization laws were approved by voters in 2012, with regulated retail sales beginning in 2014.

Another study analyzed data from the Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health Study, which follows tobacco and other substance use over time among 49,000 US youths and adults. A strength of this study was the longitudinal design allowing a look at changes among the same people over time as opposed to other national studies which compare different groups of people across time.Using marijuana may affect your ability to think and plan, study says

Substance abuse dropped in teenagers between ages 13 and 17, according to the study published in the journal JAMA Network. The study points out using marijuana may affect a youth’s ability to think and plan.

Cannabis use among teenagers ages 13 and 15 dropped by 3.4 percentage points in 2020 compared to 2018 and 2019, while tobacco use declined by about 4 points, the study found. The use of other illegal or misused prescription drugs also fell 2.5 percentage points in this age group. Use of marijuana in teens ages 16 and 17 dropped 7.3 percentage points in 2020 compared to 2018 and 2019. Tobacco use fell by over 10 points and misuse of drugs sank by nearly 3 percentage points. Binge drinking dipped by 1.6 percentage points across the age group.Marijuana use rose in adults but dropped in teens, according to the study.

Everyone agrees teenagers should not be allowed to indulge, and especially over indulge, in alcohol and marijuana as they develop.  But fear mongers is interesting considering how long it took to move the drinking age from 18 to 21, despite all the science and common sense.  Louisiana, South Dakota and Wyoming had to be dragged into it.  Threats were used on the state of the New Orleans “the Big Easy” to get them to comply. Regan signed a bill passed by the United States Congress which would punish any state that allowed persons under 21 years to purchase alcoholic beverages by reducing its annual federal highway apportionment by 10 percent.

Suffer From Motion Sickness, Maybe Cannabis Or CBD Can Help

If you are afflicted with motion sickness, the thought of a car trip, even across town, feels you with dread – there might be a solution.

This summer is expected to be a banner year for travel. Millions will be climbing into cars, boarding airplanes and setting sail on cruise ships. “This summer, travelers are clearly ready to dust off their passports and embrace jet lag as they set off overseas,” says Melanie Fish, head of Expedia Group brands public relations. Bur if you suffer from motion sickness, maybe cannabis or CBD can help.

For those suffering from motion sickness, this isn’t an exciting prospect.  About a third of people experience motion sickness at any given time. Women, and children age two to 12 are most at risk. Medications exist for motion sickness, but it does not work effectively for everyone. An effective alternative to these medications that a lot of people are unaware of is cannabis.

What is Motion Sickness?

Motion sickness occurs when your brain can’t make sense of information sent from your eyes, ears and body. Lots of motion — in a car, airplane, boat, or even an amusement park ride — can make you feel queasy, clammy or sick to your stomach.

RELATED: Cannabis Offers Immediate Nausea Relief, Study Shows

For example, if your eyes cannot see the movement, it might send a signal that there is movement to your brain. If your other senses can feel the movement and send the information to your brain, it leaves the brain confused.

Types of Motion Sickness

There are three major types of motion sickness:

  • Air Sickness: This usually occurs when traveling in an aircraft, including airplanes, helicopters, gliders, parameters, and jets.
  • Car Sickness: This typically happens when you are moving in a vehicle on land, most likely a car.
  • Sea Sickness: Seasickness occurs on water, usually in boats or ships.

Categories of Motion Sickness

Motion sickness can be classified into three categories based on the source of the trigger:

  • Motion sickness that is triggered by motion that you cannot see but you can feel. In this case, while your nerves send the correct message to your brain, your eyes cannot do the same resulting in motion sickness.
  • Motion sickness that is triggered by motion that you can see but cannot feel. In this case, while your eyes send the correct message to your brain, your eyes cannot do the same resulting in motion sickness.
  • Motion sickness that is triggered when your auditory and visual systems detect different types of motion. In this case, they send different signals to the brain resulting in motion sickness.

Symptoms of Motion Sickness

The symptoms of motion sickness are usually not too serious, but can cause great uneasiness. The common symptoms of motion sickness include sweating, shortness of breath, drowsiness, nausea and vomiting, pale skin, and yawning. Regular occurrence of this condition results in more serious issues like a fear of travel.

Who Is At Risk of Having Motion Sickness?

There are two classes of people that have the highest risk of suffering from motion sickness: pregnant women and children. These factors increase your chances of getting motion sickness:

  • Anxiety and fear about traveling
  • Using an unfamiliar mode of traveling
  • Poor ventilation in the vehicle
  • Having no access to a window and being unable to see the motion.

How Cannabis Helps With Motion Sickness

In recent years, medical cannabis has been suggested by advocates as a possible remedy for motion sickness. Medical marijuana is used to ease chemotherapy-induced nausea, and research has shown that it can help with motion-induced nausea as well.

What Are The Hot Trends To Consume Marijuana?

Most are cool with marijuana consuming – but what is the trend on how people are doing it?

We are all about the current and upcoming trends – whether is it tinned food dinner parties,  scrapped cooking, glitter & sequins, to moon parties…certain generations are obsessed.  About 55 million people use weed at least once a year in the US and Canada.  And over two-thirds believe marijuana should be legal and fully accept it, what is the trend for consuming?

From age 21 to 100, using cannabis is almost as socially acceptable as drinking and way more popular than cigarette smoking…and now more people are doing it openly.  The days of locking yourself in the basement or sneaking outside to a corner of the yard are waning as people are using on walks, family events and public activities.  BDSA, a leading data company in the cannabis industry shared some insight on what is hot right now.

Flower still rules – for now

About 17% of people subscribed to a food meal kit delivery service. Of them, 90% referred others to the service to which they had subscribed.  Marijuana flower is the meal kit of the weed industry. According to BDSA, roughly 39% of all legal cannabis purchases are flower.  This represents $8.2+ billion in sales.  The number is over $10 billion when you add the black market.   With flower, you can consume in a variety of hand crafted way – joints, bongs, bowls, butter, etc.  Aficionados love it and it gives a personal pre-journey experience as you craft it exactly how you want.  Your own micro-production company at home.  Flower tends to be the go to a choice for experienced users who don’t mind the extra work and smell.

Vaping gains ground and is much more public

Continuing to gain ground not just in sales, but in public acceptance is vaping. Despite some hiccups like the Juul incident, vaping is increasing popular.  Owning 26+% of the legal market, vaping represents over $5.4 billion in sales.  The reason for the gaining ground and for it to be trending heavily?  New users love it and find it easy to use, discreet, the ability to control dosing, and very portable.  Another key reason is it eliminates most of the skunk smell around you – allowing appearances at public places like restaurants, black tie events, and weddings without calling attention to the user.  Cigarette companies have paid attention and the technology for all vape development includes ways to consume marijuana and cbd.  Nice joint technology you could say.

Edibles/ Beverages

Cannabis beverages are popular along with gummies, candies and even some food. But they come in third on trending representing 13% of market and almost $3 billion in legal sales.  Of course, this doesn’t count your aunt’s “special brownies”.  While they can be delicious, the issue is the time between ingesting and the start of the experience. Misdosing can also spoil it when you have a bit too much.

Pre-rolls

With a retro vibe of whipping at a joint and taking a long puff, store bought pre-rolls own 11% of the market, around $2+ billion in legal sales.  We are going to puff, puff, pass on making an assumption of how they do in black market as joints are still the iconic imagery of marijuana use.

Oils, suppositories, and other ways fill in remaining amount of sales.  But with the growing acceptance, especially among the under 25 set that prefers cannabis over alochol, use and way to consume will only increase.

Can Cannabis Help With A Broken Heart?

Everyone’s been there – a breakup, sleeplessness night, tears, sadness and a mind racing with what ifs.  Maybe marijuana can help

Life is full of ups and downs but nothing, it seems, is a rough as a breakup.  Whether it is a first true love, the connection you finally think you got right, or a long term figuring it out where we are going type of relationship – it hurts and sometimes it hurts bad.  Days of self recrimination, over or under eating, tears, no sleep, no smile, no joy.  Well, while consuming want mend the hurt, it might help gently move a better place.

A broken heart can causes intense emotional pain. According to a study, people experience the same brain activity for both emotional and physical pain. This means that the body responds to a heart break as if you’re literally breaking your heart.

Cannabis, however, could help you deal with this emotional stress. When consumed marijuana releases cannabinoids, which the body naturally produces to control your mood.  As you go through the stages of accepting the loss, your body and mind are not sending direction for your body to relax.  It can help stimulate a healthy balance of cannabinoids inside the brain so someone can relatively control how much sadness they are feeling.

The CB1 receptor in the brain triggers from consuming cannabis, which gives a euphoric or happy feeling as well. Cannabis has a THC content that stimulates the chemical compounds in the brain that control mood, emotions, and behavioral attitudes.  THC itself can boost the amount of “happy” chemicals released into the body.

Prescription pills also produce dopamine, however, cannabis is natural and a safer choice. There are not harsh side effects, like the ones you find in most prescription pills. And there is less chance for dependency.  The nice things about marijuana is it can help in small dose, there is no need for blackouts, drunken scenes, etc.  you can just chill and listen to your favorite music and fall back in love with yourself.

Once you have gotten to emotionally stable ground, consider a walk, hanging with friends and building a wonderful relationship with yourself.  A strong you makes for a stronger us.

Maryland Legalizes Weed, What You Need To Know

Another state has gone legal and is about to, hopefully, benefit from a growing legal revenue source and wipe out the black market and all the issues that surround the illegal side of the industry.  Governor Wes Moore of Maryland signed Senate Bill 516 regulating the legal commerce of adult-use cannabis after state legislators sent it to hime for approval in April..  By July 4th, legal sales can start in the state (making for an excellent holiday weekend). YAY, Maryland legalizes weed, what you need to know.

During the signing ceremony for the legislation, Moore expressed that the new law would guarantee the fair distribution of opportunities to introduce recreational cannabis in the state. He acknowledged the damage caused to low-income and communities of colour by the past criminalization of marijuana.

He emphasized the importance of ensuring that the legalization of marijuana now benefits these communities in a significant way.

Maryland Voters Legalized Cannabis In November

Question 4, a state referendum that gained almost two-thirds of the vote in November, legalized recreational marijuana in Maryland. The bill signed by Moore paved the way for enacting this legalization. It allows individuals aged 21 and over to possess a maximum of 1.5 ounces of cannabis and cultivate up to two cannabis plants at home.

The passing of Senate Bill 516 also creates a structure for regulating recreational marijuana in Maryland. The legislation involves the formation of a new division for regulation and enforcement under the existing Alcohol and Tobacco Commission. The division will be renamed the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Cannabis Commission.

As shared in the site Cannabis.net Below is a summary of the Maryland cannabis regulation legislation, approved by legislators as SB 516 and HB 556:

  • A tax rate of 9% will be applied to recreational cannabis sales, while medical marijuana sales will be excluded from this tax.
  • A community reinvestment fund will receive 35% of the revenue from marijuana taxes. A Cannabis Public Health Fund, Counties, and a Cannabis Business Assistance Fund will each receive an additional 5%.
  • The newly established Maryland Cannabis Administration will regulate the program.
  • Existing medical cannabis dispensaries will transition to dual licensees upon payment of the required fee once legalization takes effect on July 1.
  • By July 1, 2024, regulators will begin approving additional licenses for marijuana businesses.
  • Ultimately, there will be a licensing limit of 300 dispensaries, 100 processors, and 75 growers. Smaller micro businesses will have a limit of 100 cultivators, 10 dispensaries, and 100 processors.
  • The State Department of Commerce will establish a Capital Access Program to promote industry opportunities for social equity applicants and provide low-interest loans.
  • The sale of delta-8 hemp products on the broad market will end, and intoxicating cannabis products must be sold through licensed marijuana businesses.
  • Localities cannot levy additional taxes or prohibit existing medical cannabis businesses that convert to dual licenses from operating in their region.
  • Medical cannabis patients can grow a maximum of four plants for personal use. They will not be required to pay taxes on medical marijuana products.
  • New dispensaries will not be permitted within 500 feet of childcare facilities, schools, playgrounds, libraries, recreational centres, or public parks. They must also be at least 1,000 feet apart from each other.
  • The conversion fee for existing medical cannabis businesses to become dual licensees is 10% of gross income from growers and processors, capped at $2 million, and 8% of gross revenue for dispensaries at the same cap.
  • Under the new law, a single business entity cannot own more than four dispensaries.
  • At least 25% of dispensary shelf space must be reserved for cannabis products from social equity licensees.
  • There will be a 10-license cap on microbusinesses, and there is no provision for regulators to authorize more in the future.
  • On-site consumption facilities will not permit smoking indoors, but outdoor patios at licensed facilities will be available for smoking.
  • Dispensaries will be permitted to repackage products under the new law.
  • Regulators are required to create rules for internet marijuana sales by July 2025.

The applicant must have at least 65% ownership by an individual who has lived in a “disproportionately impacted area” for five of the last ten years or attended a public school in such an area.  How MSOs like Nature’s Medicines will work with the social equity applicants in Maryland will be similar to how partnerships work in other states like Massachusetts and the newly formed New York market.

Starting in 2025, Maryland will allocate $5 million annually for grants to existing medical cannabis dispensaries that form “meaningful partnerships” with social equity applicants. These partnerships must include training, mentorship, or shared business space. This program encourages collaboration between established businesses and social equity applicants to promote a more equitable and diverse cannabis industry.

Democratic Del. C.T. Wilson stated during a March committee hearing for Senate Bill 516 that the bill establishes a new Office of Social Equity within the cannabis division. The aim of encouraging participation from individuals belonging to communities that were disproportionately affected by the war on drugs.

The new law provides for the automatic expungement of past convictions for activities that are now legal. Individuals currently serving sentences for such offences are eligible for resentencing. Those with convictions for possession with intent to distribute can petition for expungement three years after completing their sentences.

At the start of the year, some portions of the referendum became effective. Possessing up to 1.5 ounces of cannabis was reclassified as a civil offence, carrying a penalty of a $100 fine. For possessing more than 1.5 ounces but less than 2.5 ounces, the sentence was increased to a $250 fine.

Tech Hub, Marijuana Hub? Most Likely

Programmers love marijuana, so sorry Austin, Raleigh and Atlanta – it hurts hiring

A recent study conducted by the University of Michigan revealed more than a third of software programmers choose consume cannabis while on the job.  The top 5 areas with the most tech employees are the SF Bay Area, NYC, DC, LA and Seattle with an estimated 1.4 million (give or take a layoff or two).  Marijuana is more than abundant in these areas with NYC currently boasting of 1500+ unlicensed stores, California and Washington being legally recreational states and DC, well, is know you can buy anything in that area.  Some promoters say Atlanta, Boston, Austin, Raleigh, and Denver are the real hubs – but they employee about 41% of the top five.  Of that Atlanta, Raleigh and Austin are in states that do not have recreational. So tech hub, marijuana hub? Most likely yes.

The top 5 states have a younger population and a wide range of activities including diverse food, vibrant nightlife, and entertainment options including climbing gyms, outdoor activities, and multiple music options.

One tech worker in Seattle who asked to go unnamed shared “I’d probably attribute it to high levels of use at tech industry making them pick up the habit quickly. Also, some strains of weed has the effect of hyper focusing – you tend to make connections between things really well (sometimes connections that don’t exist), also, it gives you a child like focus where you can completely forget everything which doesn’t really happen as adults”

The study found that some programmers regularly use cannabis while programming (18% of our sample do so at least once a month), many choosing to use cannabis for both personal and work-related projects. Furthermore, they found cannabis use while programming is primarily motivated by perceived enhancement to programming-related skills and increased enjoyment rather than by medicinal reasons. Finally, it found programming employees, managers, and students use cannabis while programming at similar rates, despite differences in cannabis perceptions and visibility.

Such cannabis usage, however, is in conflict with anti-drug policies currently enacted for many software engineering jobs: 29% of the sample reported they had taken a drug test for a programming related job, a hiring practice that may limit developer application pools. Thus, the results have implications for programming work-places that currently have anti-drug policies and motivate future research into the effects of cannabis use while programming.

The federal government, the nation’s largest employer is the largest enforcer of drug testing and employment discrimination regarding marijuana – even in legal states. But now, it too is sort of relaxing drug screening rules as agencies struggle to replenish the ranks of a rapidly aging workforce in a tight job market. Agencies like the CIA and the FBI have adopted more lenient rules regarding past use of marijuana among job candidates, officials acknowledge.  But if you are programmer who looks to consume, why would you take a job that says no, pays less, has few benefits and not potential stock options?

Can CBD or THC Help With A Toothache

A pain in the mouth can wreck a day, a night’s sleep and keep you from eating – can CBD or THC can help?

A smile can make someone’s day but a toothache can ruin a night’s sleep. More than 40% of adults experience some kind of pain in their mouth annually, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  When your mouth and teeth hurt, people want immediate action, but seeing a dentist is usually restricted to Monday – Friday from 9-5, pain doesn’t allows keep those hours. Chronic pain and acute pains like tooth pain behave differently. But in both cases, the endocannabinoid system regulates pain levels. So compounds like THC and CBD that act on that system can lower pain levels, no matter its cause. So can CBD or THC help with a toothache?

Medical Marijuana and toothaches?

There is a lack of scientific evidence to support the use of weed for tooth pain relief. However, there are some anecdotal reports that suggest it may be effective.

Marijuana is a natural pain reliever and been shown to be effective in treating other types of pain, such as chronic pain and nerve pain. It tends to work topically, so a sublingual (oil, spray, strip) would be the best use option. Marijuana is fat-soluble, it enters the membranes and the skin which is important in the mouth.

CBD and toothaches

CBD creams and oils have potent anti-inflammatory effects, making them appropriate for faster wound healing and pain management. In addition, the cannabinoids in CBD result in speedier skin regeneration, allowing the skin to heal up to ten times faster than without CBD treatment. Severe reduction in healing time results in better patient outcomes and less pain.

While longstanding toothache pain warrants a trip to the dentist to ensure it’s nothing more serious, many people have discovered an effective treatment for pain reduction while waiting for their dental appointment. CBD oils or tinctures applied directly to the tooth with a cotton swab provide almost instant relief for the throbbing tooth pain. Since CBD has substantial antibacterial properties, it also keeps the area clean and may prevent infection.
