In Japanese, Shiba Inu means “little brushwood dog” — a nod to its size and coloring. It’s the smallest and most popular of the six spitz breeds of dog native to Japan. Popularized in America within the last 60 years, the Shiba Inu’s calm temperament and good-spirit makes it adaptable to both the city and country. The Shiba Inu is sturdy, compact, and muscular with short and even fur on its fox-like face, ears, and legs. Their markings are a variation of white, tan, red, sesame and black.
Here, we find five of the most foxlike Shiba Inus of Instagram.
