Angelina Jolie’s Tattoos: What Each One Means And Who Did Them

Angelina Jolie is a talented actress whose celebrity is sometimes eclipsed by a mysterious and rebellious persona she can’t seem to shake no matter how many awards she wins.

Aside from messy relationships, blood vials and wonderful performances, she’s also known for her elaborate and mysterious tattoos. She’s offers no explanations for them, but we have the inside scoop.

Here is an accounting:

Shoulder Tattoo

This tattoo has seem some alterations. It started off as a dragon, with the name “Billy Bob” written on top. After that relationship ended, Jolie claimed that she’d never get a man’s name tattooed on her body again, and she lasered it off. Now, the tattoo has the geographical coordinates where each of her kids were born.

Buddhist Inscription

Probably her most famous tattoo to date, her shoulder has a Buddhist inscription for her son Maddox. The tattoo was done in traditional Thai style, with long needles and a hammer. She also had to kneel in prayer as the tattoo was made.

Bengal Tiger On Lower Back

This tattoo was made by the same artist who made the shoulder tattoo, Noo Sompong Kahnpaiin. He supposedly chanted a hymn as he worked.
