Moms Keep Confusing Ohio State’s Helmet Stickers With Marijuana Leaves

The Ohio State Buckeyes have been a college football team for more than a hundred years. Anyone who barely watches football is aware of their existence. They are easily one of the biggest brand names in college sports that we have.

You would think, because of this, most people would also be aware that Ohio State decorates their helmets with buckeye stickers. It’s a 50-year plus tradition, where players are rewarded for big plays by receiving a sticker. If the athlete is an exceptional player, his whole helmet is usually adorned with these stickers.

But guess what. A whole lot of moms think those stickers actually resemble marijuana, as SB Nation pointed out. In Ohio State’s nationally-televised game against Penn State this past weekend, Twitter users kept posting about their Moms and marijuana leaves.

But this isn’t a new trend, it turns out. SB Nation documented that tweets stretch back to 2010 of moms mistaking the buckeye leaves for pot stickers. And if this is something people have been posting about since then, it’s pretty easy to reason people have been saying it privately before 2010.

Moms of the world: We love you, but no Ohio State doesn’t have marijuana leaves on their helmets. The state of Ohio just legalized medical marijuana two years ago. Though we have to admit: the marijuana heads sound like a dope football team name.
