While giving a speech at your wedding is pretty traditional for us common folk, giving a speech at the royal wedding is not. It kind of breaks royal traditions.

According to The Independent, Meghan Markle wants to deliver a few words after her wedding takes place, if her father, who’s rumored to walk her down the isle, doesn’t speak for her. Her speech will include an “affectionate” tribute to the queen, Prince Harry, and all of their friends and family that are expected to be in attendance. The royal wedding is planned for May 19, 2018 at St. George’s Chapel, where they expect around 800 guests.
While it’s cool that Meghan is writing her own speech, and is set on doing things her own way, it’s stupid that speaking at your own wedding is something that goes against royal traditions.
Hopefully, Markle will help bring the Royal family a little closer to the 21st century and will also deliver a kick-ass speech in the meantime. Considering her work on Suits and the UN, we’re sure she’ll be amazing.
