Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made their first official evening public appearance at the Endeavor Fund Awards on Thursday. Once again breaking protocol, Markle wore a black suit while Harry was wearing a light blue one.
During the event, Markle took the podium for her first ever royal speech, where she was supposed to introduce a speaker and hand out awards, celebrating the achievements of injured and sick service men and women who’d taken part in sporting and adventure challenges over the past year. This was a surprising move since Markle still isn’t part of the royal family.
Unusually, since she isn’t yet a member of the Royal Family, #MeghanMarkleis handing out an award tonight @EndeavourFund pic.twitter.com/R36MJIYsfE

While the first part of the speech ran smoothly, when it was time to introduce the speaker, Daniel Claricoates, there was an awkward moment as he fumbled through the speech papers, not finding his mark.Â
She stood by awkwardly, smiling to the crowd, until she had to jump in and help him find his part, prompting laughs from the audience. When Markle thought Claricoates had it, she backed off, only to return to his aid when he kept on struggling. The awkward exchange lasted for about a minute.

While the speech was a little awkward by the end of it, you can’t blame Meghan for Claricoates’ fumbling. In the end, she was simply standing by him and tried to make the best out of a crappy situation.
