That headline might be completely false, but it’s certainly presumed that fans of the Harry Potter series will be delighted to find out that butterbeer is now for muggles, at least in ice cream form.
Yuengling’s Ice Cream announced the release of their butterbeer flavor on its website. It’s made with half buttercream ice cream, half butterscotch ice cream, and twisted with a butterscotch swirl.
For those not familiar with the Harry Potter reference, its author, J.K. Rowling was quoted in Bon Appetit‘s January 2002 issue, saying: “I made it up. I imagine it to taste a little bit like less sickly butterscotch.”
Yuengling President David Yuengling says: “We are always looking for ways to inspire our fans and spark creativity. Whether it’s our flavor names and descriptions or the recipes themselves—we’re in the business of having fun. We hope we made J.K. Rowling proud with this flavor.”
Last year, Starbucks came out with their presumed version of butterbeer — the Smoked Butterscotch Latte — to mixed reviews.

As for the new ice cream, it appears to be offered nationwide, but in limited areas. Or, you can head to Orlando and get a “real” butterbeer at Harry Potter World. Either way…
