Apple Cracking Weed Jokes At The World Wide Developer Conference

Apple announced a slew of new products and features at their World Wide Developer Conference this week. One of those included a massive update to MacOS. As usual, Apple named this software update and this patch earned the moniker “High Sierra.”

You may be thinking that name allows for some ripe weed jokes, if you were such a person inclined to make those type of one-liners. It turns out Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering, is that kind of guy.

When announcing the new software, Federighi joked the name is “fully baked.” And because he couldn’t resist, Federighi also said Safari on High Sierra “smokes the competition,” as Mashable reported.

Federighi understands Apple’s WWDC can be a dull tech conference. Nerds talking nerdy and such. So Federighi has delivered some on-point dad humor since he began presenting Apple events in 2013.

Last year as he introduced Apple’s new Metal processing system, he threw up devil horn rock fingers and smirked. In 2015 he sneakily rickrolled the audience.

And in 2014 he made another weed joke involving macOS. He teased that Apple had considered naming the new software “OS X Weed” before settling on OS X Yosemite.

With all the dad jokes we can’t help but wonder if Federighi gets “High Sierra” himself.
