It can’t be easy being the spouse of a famous person, especially a royal like Prince Harry, where you’re required to adhere to a certain code of conduct and scrutinized constantly by outsiders.
That’s exactly why Prince Harry preferred to marry a celebrity — someone who was already used to being in the spotlight.

That’s according to his buddies by way of The Sunday Times, which reports that Harry was already contemplating a celeb collab way before Meghan Markle because he knew a plebeian wouldn’t likely be able to handle the pressure of being his Forever Plus One. It’s believed to be the main reason several of his prior relationships hit the skids.
And while he reportedly wasn’t looking for a famous girlfriend when he met Suits actress Markle, it was likely a check in the plus column. A “close source” of Harry’s tells the Times:
It makes sense that he has ended up with a celebrity… he feels comfortable being with someone who has already come to terms with the price of fame in the way that his other girlfriends never could.
And as The Daily Beast points out, during Markle and Harry’s first sit-down interview, she definitely down-played her celebrity, saying: “There’s a misconception that, because I worked in the entertainment industry, that this is something I would be familiar with. But even though I had been on my show for, I guess, six years at that point and working before that, I’ve never been part of tabloid culture. I’ve never been in pop culture to that degree and lived a relatively quiet life, even though I focus so much on my job.”

The couple just celebrated their first wedding anniversary on May 19, less than two weeks after they welcomed their first child, Archie.
