Prince William Made This Common Parenting Blunder When George Was Born

As Meghan Markle and Prince Harry expect the arrival of their first child any day now, a cautionary tale is making the rounds involving the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Back in 2013, when Prince George was born, Kate Middleton and Prince William, proudly presented their newest bundle of joy to the public on the steps on the Lindo Wing, where he was born. Kate looked as fresh as ever, just hours after giving birth. And George was wrapped in a white blanket.

After the royal “show and tell” was over, William placed his newly born son into his car seat, still swaddled. And here lies the issue. Blankets can prohibit the buckles from properly doing their job.

According to ChildCarSeats.co.uk states, the seat belt should be worn as tight as possible.

“It should be quite tight, so that only one or two fingers can fit between the child’s chest and harness.”

According to Express.co.uk, a police agency in the Grampian, Scotland used the royal car seat blunder as an opportunity to remind parents to use car seats properly:

“They may not be third in line to the throne, but you need to make sure that your little prince or princess is sitting in the correct seat when travelling in your carriage (or family car),” they wrote on Facebook.

For what it’s worth, Kate and Will took proper car seat precautions with their second child, Princess Charlotte.
