Likely Godparents Of Meghan And Harry’s Baby

It’s almost that time! Baby Sussex (“Who?” – Prince George) is going to arrive any minute now, setting off a domino effect of even more anticipation. First, is it a boy or girl? What is his or her name? What is his or her title? And who are the likely godparents of Meghan and Harry’s baby?

It’s a busy time for U.K. betting site Ladbrokes, which is already taking bets on likely baby names (Grace is the frontrunner) and due date. And according to them, the leading picks for godparents include Harry’s longtime friend Charlie Van Straubenzee (1/8 odds) and Meghan’s close friend and stylist Jessica Mulroney (1/3 odds).

According to People, it won’t be a surprise if Charlie is chosen because the two have known each other forever, first meeting at prep school. Harry was a classmate of Charlie’s late brother, Henry, who died in a car crash in 2002. And Prince William is a close friend of Charlie’s other brother, Thomas, who is a godfather to Princess Charlotte.

As for Jessica, all three of her kids served as attendants in Meghan’s wedding; her young daughter, Ivy, was one of Meghan’s bridesmaids, while her two sons were page boys. Jessica also helped Meghan plan her wedding, pick out her wedding dress designer (Jessica is a stylist, after all) and attended her baby shower in NYC.

Although it’s unlikely, Meghan and Harry’s celeb pals George and Amal Clooney are frontrunners for potential celebrity godparents (8/1 odds). Meghan’s good freind Serena Williams is next with 10/1 odds, and David Beckham has a 20/1 chance. Elton John, who performed at the couple’s wedding reception, and Oprah are last with 33/1 odds.

But it’s totally possible Harry and Megs will choose more than one set of godparents.  Prince George has seven godparents, Princess Charlotte has five and Prince Louis has six.
