Dr. Pimple Popper Says You Should Apply Antiperspirant At Night

Dr. Pimple Popper says applying antiperspirant every night before bed is much more effective than putting it on every morning. Here’s why.

Sandra Lee, aka Dr. Pimple Popper, is an internet sensation. Having hundreds of followers and a board game called Pimply Pete, it’s easy to forget that she’s also a certified dermatologist who knows how to do other things aside from popping pimples.

In a video for Harper’s Bazaar, Dr. Lee shows the world her nighttime routine, shocking everyone when she said that this is the time of the day when she applies deodorant/antiperspirant. Her opinions are backed by other dermatologists who claim that this is the most effective option for your body.

She explains that sweat glands become dormant in the evening, meaning that it’s the best time for them to absorb the components in your antiperspirant or deodorant, making their effects stronger and longer lasting.

An article from Thompson Tee explains the difference between antiperspirant and deodorant, and how applying antiperspirant at night gives much better results over applying it in the morning. While deodorants mask smells, antiperspirants prevent your sweat glands from producing sweat, blocking them with aluminum. Once your glands start producing sweat — something that occurs every morning whether you realize it or not — antiperspirant is no longer doing its effect.

While you might be a little freaked out to learn that every time you put on antiperspirant aluminum blocks your sweat glands, studies claim it’s safe and that the links that have appeared between it and cancer are false. You could still choose to use deodorant, which is less effective at treating bad smells, but at least there’s nothing too weird going on.
