This ‘Napercise’ Class Teaches Tired Adults How To Nap Properly

Napping is both a talent and a skill, an ability you must train and develop if to be accomplished adequately. Yet in our infinite bustling world, with our mythology of hard work and success, sleep has become a deprived resource. Everyone is sacrificing sleep to make up for lost time and it’s resulting in a legion of bushy-eyed workers. That’s why one UK gym thought they should try and teach napping classes. Your new gym routine could include 15 minutes of stretching and a 45-minute nap session under an “ideal temperature.”

The promotional video claims that “napercise” can “reinvigorate the mind, improve moods, and even burn the odd calorie.” Plus it looks damn relaxing sleeping on marshmallow cloud and wearing fresh sleeping masks.

As Dreams sleep expert Kathryn Pickerson, who is collaborating with David Lloyd Gyms on the class, said to The Independent, “Sleep is a lot more important than people realise. We tend to focus on the short-term effects such as being tired or lacking concentration but it is also essential for our long-term physical and mental wellbeing too.

“In addition to a lack of sleep bringing with it a higher risk of developing anxiety or depression, when we are sleep deprived we lack the energy to exercise regularly and also the mental clarity to make good decisions about the food we eat, which could negatively impact our physical health in the long-run.”
