This Is What Princes William And Harry Were Almost Named

How different would their lives be if Prince William and Prince Harry had totally different names? It almost happened.

If you couldn’t tell by now, The Royals stick to very traditional names when it comes to naming their heirs. And that’s certainly the case with William Arthur Philip Louis and Henry Charles Albert David, otherwise known as Prince William and Prince Harry. But their dad, Prince Charles, originally wanted to name them something else until Princess Diana stepped in.

During her interviews with biographer and friend Andrew Morton for his 1992 book Diana: Her True Story (snippets of which were used in the documentary Diana: In Her Own Words — currently available on Netflix), she mentioned that she came up with her sons’ names. And from what she tells Morton, you can see why.

“I chose William and Harry, but Charles did the rest,” said the late Princess, telling him that Charles had something entirely different in mind: “He wanted Albert and Arthur, and I said no. Too old!”
