Mentioning Guacamole In Your Online Profile Will Get You More Dates

0

It’s no secret that food is a turn-on, but dating app Zoosk took it a step further by proving that fact with actual math.

They found that talking about food in your profile, specifically guacamole, makes you more attractive. Referencing avocado’s party girl persona on your profile is likely to get you way more messages (and presumably dates) than those who don’t.

https://giphy.com/gifs/food-seinfeld-iKbbUMQzXcbRe

The dating site crunched some 3.7 million dating profiles and more than 365 million first messages looking for every single time food was mentioned. What they found was kind of surprising. More messages were exchanged any time food was mentioned, especially guacamole, potatoes and chocolate. In fact, users who mentioned those foods in their profile saw a 100 percent increase than those who did not. But, according to Zoosk:

There are a few exceptions however. Interestingly enough, despite the fact that it is both delicious and wonderful, mentioning fried chicken in a dating profile results in 15% fewer messages and yams are vastly unpopular resulting in 70 percent fewer messages.

Under the larger term of “foodie,” those who used this word to describe themselves received 82 percent more messages.

Though mentioning food in your profile can lead to more incoming messages, it probably shouldn’t be the first thing you talk about with someone. For the most part, mentioning food in an initial message doesn’t result in many more replies. But there are some exceptions, the most surprising of which is eggplant, which gets 10 percent more responses than the average.

Huh?

And if you’re a vegetarian or vegan, things are looking up! The study found that since 2015, when mentioning the word “vegetarian” was the equivalent of saying you’re a disciple of the Duggar family, it’s now a bonus:

Back in 2015, messages that mentioned being a vegetarian were a big no-no and resulted in 100 percent fewer replies than the average. But now that’s it’s 2017, saying you’re a vegetarian is a plus. Messages that mention being a vegetarian get 3 percent more replies than the average. Though it’s not a huge lift in replies, it is a huge difference in just two years. In addition, if you say you’re a vegetarian in your profile you can get up to 52 percent more incoming messages. Being a vegan is a plus as well. People who mention vegan in their profile get 62 percent more incoming messages than the average.

Also, fellas, don’t take your lady to a fast-food joint on the first date. Nearly 60 percent of women say this is a huge turn-off and 10 percent say it’s a total deal breaker. If you want guacamole, head to a nice restaurant, not Taco Bell.

You Will Soon Be Able To Buy Marijuana At This Canadian Pharmacy

In a landmark deal, Aphria Inc., agreed to allow Canada’s major pharmacy chains to sell its product, allowing people to buy marijuana online. While current Canadian legislation doesn’t allow for cannabis to be sold in physical retail locations, Shoppers Drug Mart will sell marijuana from Aphria Inc. on its website.

According to Bloomberg, news of the agreement caused Aphria’s stock to jump around 30 percent Tuesday. Not only is this a financial boon for the marijuana company, but could prove to ease trepidation from doctors who have never written a medical marijuana prescription previously.

“It’s really a huge reach-out to thousands of doctors….” Aphria Chief Executive Officer Vic Neufeld said on a conference call, according to Bloomberg. “When a pharmacist is involved in the process, they become a lot more agreeable or receptive or comfortable in writing a script.”

As Canada will legalize recreational marijuana this summer, major players within the cannabis industry are trying to secure long-term deals to seal their place in the marketplace. Though it is unknown whether Aphria Inc. will be the sole provider of medical marijuana to Shoppers Drug Mart, it’s an extreme advantage moving forward.

The medical marijuana market is estimated to produce $1.6 billion in Canadian dollars by 2021 while the total recreational market could total more than $6 billion.

“There are 1,300 Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix locations across the country,” Beacon Securities analyst Vahan Ajamian told Bloomberg. “We see this five-year agreement as a major milestone for Aphria and for the sector at large.”

Gossip: Matthew McConaughey Was Almost In ‘Titanic’; Prince Harry Wants A Wedding Cake Made From Bananas

Kate Winslet divulged that she actually auditioned with Matthew for her famous role in Titanic.

The Oscar winner stopped by “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on Thursday to answer some of the staff’s burning “Titanic” questions, including whether Kate almost starred opposite an actor other than Leonardo DiCaprio.

“Paramount wanted Matthew McConaughey for the role of Jack but [James] Cameron insisted on Leo, how would that have changed things?” Colbert asked.

“I auditioned with Matthew, isn’t that weird? I never said that in public before!” Kate replied.

Prince Harry’s Wants A Wedding Cake Made From Bananas

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are going bananas over wedding planning! The couple, who announced their engagement last week, are said to want a wedding cake made from bananas, a source told The Telegraph. And the reason why has a romantic twist.

In addition to Harry reportedly loving “anything with banana,” the fruit has also played a cheeky role in their relationship. Just hours after their budding romance was confirmed in late October of last year, the former Suits actress posted a cryptic image of two cuddling bananas on her Instagram. Alongside the quirky romantic photo, she added the caption, “Sleep tight xx.” The unexpected banana post sent royal watchers into a frenzy over the new couple’s relationship. And now, just one year later, they’re planning to celebrate their big day with a banana cake — which would be a first for a royal wedding.

Harry and Meghan’s decision to go with a banana cake is a departure from the norm. Traditionally, the top tier of British wedding cake is a fruit cake, because it lasts long enough to be served at the christening of the couple’s first child. But they’re not the first royal couple to go their own way when it comes to their wedding day menu. Prince William’s groom’s cake was made of chocolate biscuits. He and Kate Middleton also served a traditional eight-tiered cake served at their reception at Buckingham Palace.

S.F. Cannabis Businesses May Finally Have A Banking Solution

California is less than one month away from launching its long-awaited legal marijuana program, which economists forecast will be valued at $7 billion. State and local governments will eventually be collecting $1 billion a year in tax revenue.

But what to do with all that money? Since cannabis remains federally illegal, financial institutions still won’t allow these businesses to conduct traditional banking transactions. In order to provide public safety, San Francisco may become the first city in the nation to create a public bank.

“It is unfair and a public safety risk to require a legal industry to haul duffle bags of cash to pay taxes, employees and utility bills,” according to California Treasurer John Chiang. “The reliance on cash paints a target on the back of cannabis operators and makes them and the general public vulnerable to violence and organized crime.”

In November, Chiang endorsed a study to examine the efficacy of opening a state bank for those in the cannabis industry.

San Francisco County Supervisors Malia Cohen and Sandra Fewer are backing the concept of creating a municipal bank, which also would end the liberal city’s use of large national commercial banks.

According to a policy analysis report filed last week:

Twenty‐six states, including California and the District of Columbia have legalized certain marijuana‐related activities. Because marijuana is illegal at the federal level, many marijuana‐related businesses do not have access to banking services and have to conduct all their business in cash.

Cohen believes this is not only a banking issue, it is also a safety issue. “In our long cannabis discussion, we have barely acknowledged that cannabis is currently an all-cash business — cash payroll, no banking, vaults of bills on the floors of retailers,” she said.

According to a report in the San Francisco Examiner:

The report suggests the board “request an opinion from the City Attorney’s Office on legal issues regarding serving the marijuana industry” through a public bank.

The task force, which is expected to be established in late January, is charged with issuing a report within six months, including cost estimates of establishing a public bank, staffing needs and how to provide banking services for the cannabis industry.

San Francisco is not alone in proactively searching for a solution. At least 10 other cities or states are considering public banking as an option.

See How Daily Doses Of CBD Oil Saved This Young Girl’s Life

Sophie Ryan has been a cannabis consumer for four years. She started when she was not quite nine months old when she was diagnosed with Optic Pathway Glioma brain tumor.

Sophie’s heart-warming story was featured on Tuesday’s syndicated talk show The Doctors. On the show, the Ryan family share the story of how CBD oil helped save their daughter’s life.

At 8 ½ months, Sophie was diagnosed with the brain tumor that was wrapped around her optic nerve. The doctors informed Sophie’s parents, Tracy and Josh, that the only treatment was chemotherapy. Tracy began researching CBD oil for use in pediatric cancer, and in consultation with her oncology team, they began dosing Sophie alongside the chemo.

Over the first 13 months, the tumor shrank by 85%, and Sophie stopped needing blood transfusions. Now 5, Sophie is still in treatment, but she is living a healthy, normal life, and the Ryans believe that CBD oil was crucial in saving Sophie’s life.

“The only side effects she ever had was a little sleepiness that completely went away as she acclimated to the oils,” according to Tracy. “Now her only side effect is hunger, which is amazing since the chemo can affect her appetite. Despite several rounds of chemo, Sophie continued to gain weight and has a great quality of life despite having chemo once a week with short breaks from time to time. Her hair has grown back, she is advancing developmentally, and despite the nine blood transfusions she has required she is otherwise very happy and healthy,” she added.

CBD oil is legal in dozens of states, but the demand for the oil is much greater than the supply in most states.

“Our kids have to be the guinea pigs,” Tracy says. “We’re the ones that have to try all these different approaches, and try different strains, and try different extraction processes, and see what works, because the government won’t legalize it so we can do federally funded trails.”

To help support Sophie and other children using CBD as a treatment, Tracy maintains the “Prayers for Sophie” Facebook page.  There is also a Saving Sophie site.

3 Stories You Need To Read About How Marijuana Can Help PTSD

Medical marijuana and its use on veterans who struggle with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) has been a source of much discussion and controversy.

While medical marijuana is legal in some states, there hasn’t been enough research on how it directly affects PTSD. We know of cannabis’ success due to the incredible stories that vets and their families share about their experiences with the herb and how it has helped them deal with the disorder, reintegrating them back into civilian life.

Studies suggest that around 20 percent of veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan suffer from some form of PTSD. In 2012, statistics said that 22 veterans of the Armed Forces committed suicide every day. Antidepressants like Zoloft and Paxil, which both come with a serious batch of side effects, have been the go-to drugs for these patients, and only recently has marijuana become a serious option for them, mainly due to the Veterans Equal Access Act approved in 2014. This law allows veterans to obtain medical prescriptions for cannabis, something that used to be impossible. VA doctors weren’t even allowed to discuss medical marijuana with their patients.

Several universities and facilities have been conducting research and studies that have provided some information on the subject. A study on rats in Germany demonstrated that exposure to cannabis helped the subjects with fear management, the most influential factor of PTSD. The research also suggests that while cannabis does help with fear and with managing it, prolonged exposure to the herb may make brain cells less sensitive to the chemicals that are helping in the first place, making medical cannabis a temporary option for PTSD vets.

While there’s still much ground to be covered for medical marijuana, negative opinions and taboos regarding the drug have started to change due to the large amounts of evidence that suggest that cannabis is the best option when it comes to veterans that suffer from PTSD.

5 Bizarre And Depraved Sex Stories From Mythology

0

Mythology is responsible for a lot of cool things. These tales paint beautiful scenes about war and a world that’s lost, and also have some really freaky sex stories. Myths have some moments that maybe, 2000 years ago, weren’t such a big deal. Now that we’ve lived a little longer and evolved, a few warning bells ring when we read the story where Zeus turns himself into a bull and proceeds to rape Europa. Not cool, Zeus.

It’s not only Zeus that’s a little weird when it comes to sex, there’s a whole bunch of stories from different regions of the world that will have you mumbling “What?” once you’re through with them.

Join us as we list out the creepiest ones:

Indra, AKA That Hindu God With A Thousand Vaginas.

Indra was sort of the equivalent of Zeus for the Hindu crowd of the era. Aside from being the lord of creation, he had a lot of stuff in common with Zeus, including his love for dramatically throwing lightning bolts and for transforming himself into other women’s husbands so he could sleep with them. This is all Mythology 101.

In one of the strangest myths ever, Indra disguises himself as Gautana because he really wanted to sleep with his wife, Ahalya. He pulled off the disguise and it all worked out, because Indra managed to have sex with her. When Gautana found out he was understandably mad, so he decided to curse Indra by having thousands of vaginas magically sprout out from all over his body. How about that, Indra?

Maximon, The Guatemalan Saint Of Gambling And Debauchery

This god/saint has a bad rep with the world, even the Vatican suggests not to pray to him, but he still has a devoted set of followers. This is due to his origin story, where one day, when all the men were out working the fields, he proceeded to sleep with all of their wives. After the husbands found out, they cornered Maximon and lynched him, cutting out all of his limbs and then his penis for being such a little sleaze.

As with all martyrs, Maximon is now revered and considered a saint. He represents fertility, male sexual power and wealth and he even has his own day where he is the star and where his face is uncovered as a way of honoring him.

Priapus Or That God With A Really Huge Dick

https://giphy.com/gifs/gobble-UgGPL6rtm1z44

Ok so he’s technically not a god, but he was very close to being one.

The ancient greeks were always very modest with the penises that appeared in their art, portraying them in small and respectful ways. There’s one exception to this and that’s Priapus. Greek mythology states that Hera, Zeus’ wife, was super jealous of Aphrodite and her beauty, so she cursed her child with a deformity that banned him from Mt. Olympus. He had a very very large penis.

As Priapus roamed the Earth, he got up to all kinds of crazy stuff, one time trying to have sex with Hestia as she was asleep but never achieving it because some donkey in the distance made a really loud noise that woke her up and made Priapus flee the scene. Small mercies.

Enki, The Guy Who Created The Universe With His Ejaculation

The Sumerian God Enki, literally created the universe with his ejaculation. When it came to the creation of the Middle East, Enki used his penis as a shovel and then masturbated on the holes he just dug up creating the Tigris and the Euphrates rivers. These magical rivers of semen created the first plants and sources of food for civilization.

His very productive masturbation sesh also led to the creation of the world’s first humans, who were obviously inclined to revere his magical dick.

The Wandering Vagina

The Menihaku people of the Amazon obviously speak a different language, which when translated to English makes for some strange and interesting results. The legend of the Wandering Vaginas reasons that women’s vaginas used to roam around at night searching for food. One night, a man woke up to find one of these vaginas eating all of his food, so he branded it with fire. The vagina ran away in fear, looking for her rightful owner, who woke up in agony and advised all women and their vaginas to stick together and to respect other people’s food. No wonder there aren’t any loose vaginas roaming around the world anymore.

‘Unforgettable’: Paul McCartney’s Lost Christmas Album Surfaces

Back in 1965, Paul McCartney wanted to give a present to fellow bandmates John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. So he went to the studio and secretly recorded an “album” full of experimental Christmas cheer.

Characterized more as Paul playing DJ for a radio show, only several copies were ever pressed onto acetate discs. Those discs were thought to have been lost, though bootleg versions were said to have been passed around. But someone recently uploaded the tape, called Unforgettable, to YouTube so you can enjoy McCartney’s Christmas cheer.

Writer Richie Unterberger describes the “left field” tape so in The Unreleased Beatles: Music And Film:

For years, it had been reported that Paul McCartney recorded an album at home around Christmas 1965 specifically for the other Beatles. Supposedly, it included singing, acting, and sketches, and only three copies were pressed, one each for John, George, and Ringo. In a 1995 interview with Mark Lewisohn, Paul confirmed this in some detail, explaining, “Yes, it’s true. I had two Brenell tape recorders set up at home, on which I made experimental recordings and tape loops, like the ones in ‘Tomorrow Never Knows.’ And once I put together something crazy, something left field, just for the other Beatles, a fun thing which they could play late in the evening. It was just something for the mates, basically.”

Continued McCartney, “It was called Unforgettable and it started with Nat ‘King’ Cole singing ‘Unforgettable,’ then I came in over the top as the announcer” ‘Yes, unforgettable, that’s what you are! And today in Unforgettable…’ It was like a magazine program: full of weird interviews, experimental music, tape loops, some tracks I knew the others hadn’t heard, it was just a compilation of odd things. I took the tape to Dick James’s studio and they cut me three acetate discs. Unfortunately, the quality of these discs was such that they wore out as you played them for a couple of weeks, but then they must have worn out. There’s probably a tape somewhere, though.”

If it ever turns up, it might be the earliest evidence of the Beatles using home recording equipment for specifically experimental/avant-garde purposes—something that John and Paul did in the last half of the 1960s, though John’s ventures in this field are more widely known than Paul’s.

You can listen to the tape above.

Digisexuals Are Coming And You Really Don’t Wanna Know The Rest

0

The era of virtual sex is closer than ever. Apparently people suck, technology is everywhere, and this is influencing how people relate to each other and develop meaningful relationships. It’s terrifying to watch experts coining terms like “digisexual,” and discussing marriage between humans and robots

https://giphy.com/gifs/filmeditor-mean-girls-movie-3o7aTsuMiDzGq1w80g

Digisexual, according to LADbible.com, is someone whose sexual and emotional attractions are satisfied by the virtual world, bypassing the need of romantic and sexual human partners. According to Dr. Neil McArthur, an expert from the University of Manitoba, the adoption of this term will become more popular the more technology develops.

Via DailyMail:

“Many people will find that their experiences with this technology become integral to their sexual identity and some will prefer them to direct sexual interactions with humans.”

Researchers also claim that the arrival of sex bots is imminent, and that this is something that tech experts from all over are working very hard to create. These sex dolls will have customizable personalities and looks, a group of traits that will be very valued in our near future. The robots will provide the main source of sexual and social interaction for some people, an idea that psychotherapists should get comfortable with.

With digisexuals, crazy technology, and our obsession with being far, far away from the present, the future looks pretty unpredictable to say the least.

Legendary Boxing Promoter Bob Arum: ‘Cannabis Is Good For You!’

Bob Arum, the renowned boxing promoter, is a legend within fighting circles. Though he’ll soon turn 86, he hasn’t lost any of his invective attitude, willing to dispense any opinion no matter whatever controversy it may stir up.

Recently that included Arum’s thoughts on cannabis. In reflecting upon his career, Arum told CBS Sports that marijuana may have helped with maintaining his longevity.

“The question is, if they gave me a VADA test, would I pass it?” Arum said during an appearance on the “In This Corner” podcast. “I don’t take performance-enhancing drugs, I mean, but I come from Nevada. So it’s legal now and I have a puff every now and then. I plead guilty to that. Other than that, I keep my body in pretty good shape.”

To his credit, Arum hasn’t come out as a cannabis supporter in recent years when it’s become chic for celebrities to do so. He infamously appeared in the 1975 film The Marijuana Affair. He also advocated to remove cannabis from the banned substances list in 2012 when Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. received a nine-month suspension after testing positive for weed.

At that time, he told Fight Hub TV that it wasn’t a performance-enhancing drug, so it shouldn’t adversely affect a fighter’s career.

“I’m not going to condemn a kid for smoking a joint a month before a fight to go to sleep,” Arum said. “What the f*** has happened? I mean, let’s be real about it. Let’s not be hypocrite about it.”

In talking with CBS Sports, Arum’s stance hasn’t changed in the slightest. He still believes in its decriminalization and that marijuana use will continue to be legalized around the country.

“I started [using marijuana] in 1966,” Arum said. “Kids, young kids shouldn’t do it because your brain is being formulated. But in 1966, I was in my 30s and I started. I don’t do it at work, I do it for recreation. It’s good for you, it’s good for you. Cannabis is good for you!

“It’s these damn people during the Nixon administration that really put cannabis into the position where it was a drug like heroin and cocaine and that was wrong. Now I think people in states like Nevada, Colorado, Oregon, Washington and soon California, people will be able to go into places and buy it legally like I do in Nevada.”
