This year, the exhibit was called ‘Magic & Mayhem’ and it depicted the world of Harry Potter, including Platform 9 & ¾, the Diagon Alley and many other amazing places that are giving us tons of FOMO.

Here are the coolest pictures of the Halloween Harry Potter Boutique at Roger’s Gardens:

No Harry Potter themed place could exist without Platform 9 & 3/4, and Roger’s Gardens found the perfect way to use this, cleverly making it the entrance of the building.

Knockturn Alley

This alley always gets the short end of the stick when it comes to being depicted in Harry Potter themed things, eclipsed by the Diagon Alley. People rarely remember how cool and creepy it can be.

Gossip: Royal Aides Are Making Plans For Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s Wedding; Teresa Giudice In Hot Water

Prince Harry’s aides have been told to start planning for a royal wedding, The Mail revealed. Senior members of the Royal Family are understood to have been asked to look at their diaries to shortlist a series of suitable weekends next year – the clearest sign yet that an engagement announcement is imminent. The news comes days after Harry and his girlfriend Meghan Markle held a private meeting with the Queen, seen by insiders as a sign that Her Majesty has given the union her blessing.

It is unlikely there would be any official announcement until after the celebrations for the Queen’s 70th wedding anniversary on November 20. It may be significant, too, that the Palace chose to release news of the Duchess of Cambridge’s April due date comparatively early. A wedding is believed to be out of the question until Prince William and Kate’s third child is born.

One important consideration both for courtiers and the Church of England is Meghan’s status as a divorcee. Under Church rules, she would be unable to have a religious wedding and, although it could take place in church, a ceremony would be a blessing instead, with a civil marriage taking place separately. This could lead to the choice of a comparatively low-profile venue, such as the Royal Military Chapel at Wellington Barracks at St James’s Park.

Meghan is currently in Toronto filming scenes for her legal drama Suits, and work will not finish on the series until the middle of November. Sources in her circle believe she will then move into Kensington Palace, where Harry occupies the two-bedroom Nottingham Cottage. Meghan is believed to have told studio bosses that she will not return for another series of Suits next year, reportedly telling friends she was ‘happy to make this career sacrifice’ in order to concentrate on her charity work and her new life as a senior Royal.

Meghan, who made her first official public appearance alongside Harry at the Invictus Games in Toronto, is also planning to travel to India for the charity World Vision, of which she is a patron. Palace aides have already been advising Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, a 60-year-old yoga instructor and therapist who lives in Los Angeles – a sign of how seriously the relationship is being taken in Royal circles.

Teresa Giudice In Hot Water

Teresa Giudice has gone through a lot in the past few years, and it all seems to be catching up with her. Teresa spent a year in prison thanks to her husband Joe Giudice who got caught in an illegal money-making scheme. Now that she’s back home, he’s locked up for a few years which has left her feeling lonely and overwhelmed with responsibility. Her mother passed away, and her father moved into her full house.

All of these people to take care of and loose ends to tie up may be draining her wallet. Can she cut back her bad spending habits, or will she be filing for bankruptcy again in the coming months?

This Start Up Is Shaking Up The Cannabis Industry With Its 3-D Printed Inhaler

What started with a covert operation of delivering marijuana to sick patients has grown into a revolutionary medical marijuana start-up in Jerusalem. Perry Davidson is the guy behind Syqe Medical, Israel’s leading medical marijuana firm. And he’s already raised $33 million for cannabis technology that allows patients to received metered doses of marijuana.

“I was a 26-year old schmuck, and I was dealing with hundreds of cancer patients. How did we get to a situation where if I didn’t wake up in the morning, these cancer patients would or wouldn’t get their medication?” he tells The Jerusalem Post.

The Syqe Inhaler is created using a 3D-printer and, according to the Syqe website:

…utilizes selective 100 microgram dosing precision, realtime thermal & flow controllers, lung interfacing and wireless connectivity. This new level of precision will allow patients to reach the coveted optimum balance between symptom relief and psychoactivity, regaining their quality of life.

It’s so effective, pharmaceutical giants are now partnering with Syqe to distribute the device, which has patients knocking down Davidson’s door. “There are people calling us once or twice a week, asking, ‘Is it in the market, is it in the market?’” he says.

According to the Post, the  device is the only metered dose marijuana (and medicinal plants in general) inhaler in the world, approved by the Health Ministry more than two years ago.

It takes up to five minutes for the cannabis concentrate to take effect after inhaling. Loaded with “uniquely identified preloaded cartridges and a linked clinical database serving physicians, researchers and healthcare entities,” the inhaler will be available for distribution outside of hospitals sometime in 2018, according to the website.

“We are able to deliver a plant with the same rigor, safety and precision as a [traditional] pharmaceutical,” says Davidson.

As the Post notes, Israel is the home of Professor Raphael Mechoulam, who in the 1960s, became the first person to identity marijuana’s main psychoactive compound, THC.

Currently, patients in Israel are allowed to get medical marijuana prescriptions, but it’s not easy; they can only get a prescription if no other treatment worked within the past year.

The Fresh Toast Marijuana Legislative Roundup: Oct. 23

Last week in marijuana legislative news, Dallas improved its marijuana possession law, the city of Henderson, Nevada approved five retail stores and Maine signaled a delay in recreational sales. Find out about that more in our weekly marijuana legislative roundup.

Maine:

On Thursday, Governor Paul LePage proposed legislation to delay the start of recreational sales to 2019 in order to give the legislature more time to amend the state’s voter-approved recreational marijuana law. The legislature is planning to convene this week to consider a bill that would increase the sales tax on marijuana from 10 percent to 20 percent, require municipalities to “opt in” to the state’s legal cannabis market, and make a number of changes to the way cannabis is regulated at the state level. The bill came after months of work by a special committee tasked with implementing the legalization measure approved by voters in 2016. LePage’s bill is seen as an effort to scrap the proposed regulatory package. Recreational sales have already been delayed until February 2018 at the earliest.

Texas:

On Tuesday, Dallas County commissioners approved a bill to create a “cite and release” program for minor marijuana offenses. The program will allow officers to issue misdemeanor court summons to those found in possession of four ounces or less of marijuana, rather than taking them to jail. The program will take effect on December 1.

Nevada:

On Tuesday, the city of Henderson approved licenses for its first five recreational marijuana dispensaries. Nearly four months after recreational sales began throughout most of the state, city officials approved applications from five medical marijuana dispensaries to begin selling marijuana from recreational use. The large city outside Las Vegas had placed a moratorium on legal cannabis sales in February that lasted through September. The businesses still require state licensing and inspection before they can start selling recreational marijuana.

Condo Dwellers In New York City Have Front Row Seat To Park Sex

0

There’s a dirty little secret among some luxury condo owners in New York City. The towering views they were promised include public park sex nearby.

Over on 5th Avenue in Harlem, home owners overlooking Marcus Garvey Park tell the NYC neighborhood blog DNAinfo.com that they basically live in the equivalent of box seats at a porn theater.

“I saw a lot of b—jobs, guys having sex, guys masturbating, I really saw the whole gamut,” says Marie Gelot, who lived in her spendy condo for five years before moving out in August.

https://giphy.com/gifs/dude-ranch-13O8lsCUU4jTuU

According to the blog, the high rise is such a great viewpoint that the NYPD uses it as headquarters for sting operations. Who wouldn’t want their home to be on an episode of “Law & Order: SVU”?

This down-low public sex lookout has been a thing for nearly a decade, when construction workers noticed the orgy like atmosphere of the nearby park before the building opened in 2009.

Doorman David Lamboy says he was skeptical…until he was totally shook by an image that is forever burned into his brain.

I’m a lifelong New Yorker. I’ve seen many things, but what I saw that day shocked me. Not to be too graphic, but it was one gal and three guys.

Lamboy says residents will often call police when they see such…free love going on in the park, but once officers leave, the sex continues.

The most popular spot is an area just off a popular footpath that’s littered with condom wrappers. The blog sent one their reporters to do a little recon and the findings were not exactly family friendly.

When a DNAinfo New York reporter visited the area Thursday afternoon, one man was seen performing oral sex on another man. Below them, at grade level in the park, older people played chess on park benches, while dogs frolicked and a group of kids played a flag football game on the field.

This dichotomy could be a major turnoff for potential homeowners, who would otherwise be blown away by the beautiful park and the luxury condo’s amenities (dog run, basketball courts, pool). But if you ask longtime residents, they’ll tell you they see public sex year-round. Says building superintendent Nelson Flecha, “In the winter, you notice it more because all the leaves are gone.”

The good news here is that an organization has been created, Marcus Garvey Park Alliance, to specifically help restore the park to a more innocent time, pre-perv. Members organize events in the park’s “problem areas” in order to increase foot traffic and create awareness. Here’s hoping that plan works and isn’t just another attraction for exhibitionists.

See It: These Canadian Students Built A Better Marijuana Bong

For most cannabis consumers, figuring out how to operate a bong is a rite of passage. It takes a little more technique than simply toking on a joint or passing around a pipe. The bong, or water pipe, requires a little practice and can be intimidating for the newbie.

Enter BRBT Designs, a Canadian cannabis accessory brand founded by University of Alberta students in Edmonton. Simon Grigenas, co-founder and CEO, and his team decided to break the traditional bong design and revolutionize the experience.

“BRNT provides a more sophisticated alternative to the various other smoking accessories that do not provide the benefits of precision engineering and airflow design,” said Grigenas. “With hundreds of varieties to choose from, consumers are not always aware of the availability of newer and better ways of administrating cannabis.”

For Grigenas, his company’s innovation is mostly about function, but he is equally excited about the form of his new product. “We plan to give our customers these functional benefits in a product that is so aesthetically pleasing that you can proudly show it off on your coffee table at home.”

So, what makes the design so unique? The device, dubbed the Hexagon, is made of a ceramic-glass blend. It is safe to put in the dishwasher and can be placed in the freezer for a smoother smoke. Other ceramic bongs are similar, but the Hexagon’s stylish design gives it an artistic aesthetic.

“My mom has been using it as a flower vase,” Andrew Feltham, one of the co-creators of the bong, told CBC News. “It’s got a modern, minimal feel.”

The company is funding its venture via the crowdfunding route and is scheduled to launch the campaign this week. The retail price for the high-end bong will be $188 in Canadian dollars (about $235 US).

According to the company’s official website, the Hexagon is “professionally engineered while leveraging air flow dynamics. It hits perfectly every time, no exceptions. It’s a superior thermal insulator, leaving the bong cool to the touch.”

Cannabis Consumption: Demographic Reports For October 2017

Legal marijuana is becoming big business—with this maturation of the marketplace, business analysts are attempting to understand consumer demographics and purchasing habits. Bottom line: the entire cannabis industry—with all of its ancillary products and start-up companies—is totally dependent upon the successful cultivation and subsequent sale of marijuana. As such, sales drive revenues, these revenues, in turn, keep businesses operating. Consequently, it is essential for cannabis industry entrepreneurs to understand exactly where revenues are being generated so they can position their business accordingly.

The Fresh Toast partners with Headset, a Washington State cannabis analytics firm, to gain some insight into the purchasing habits of the modern cannabis consumer. Headset provided a detailed report discussing point of sale purchases at cannabis dispensaries for various marijuana products across Washington State throughout 2016-17.

While Headset’s findings are accurate with their sample population, there numbers can still be somewhat askew do to a lack of information on black market consumption. Also, consumption patterns in states without recreational and medical marijuana programs are probably much different than those presented here—due mostly to the fact that cannabis users in these locales have far less purchasing options than those in legal arenas of the industry.

Age Demographics

In their market research concerning age demographics, Headset divided the cannabis consumer base into three categories: millennials, Generation X, and baby boomers. Millennials currently consume more cannabis than any other generation, as they account for approximately 50 percent of all dispensary sales in Washington State the last two years. Following behind the millennials is Generation X with approximately 35 percent of sales and finally baby boomers with around 15 percent of sales. There are a variety of influences on these results, namely that young people are still more likely to smoke marijuana than older generations. Moreover, millennials are probably far more accustomed to purchasing sheik, branded cannabis products at a dispensary—while older generations could very well continue to procure marijuana from alternative sources.

Purchasing Habits

Headset also provided some valuable insight into the purchasing habits of the aforementioned demographics, adding the “silent generation” (ages 76+) to their findings. For every age demographic featured in the study, flowers far outsold all other cannabis products, holding at least 58 percent of the market share across the board. Looking more in-depth at flower sales, hybrid strains easily outsold pure Sativa, Indica, or CBD strains with a minimum of 46 percent of the market share in all generations. However, these number could reflect necessity, not choice, as flower selections at cannabis dispensaries are almost always dominated by hybrids.

Perhaps the most interesting findings of the Headset report have to do with a comparison between the purchasing habits of age demographics concerning other cannabis products. For example, millennials purchased almost twice the amount of concentrates as any other generation. This finding is probably a reflection of young people’s tendency to be swayed by trends—in this case “dabbing.” Looking at baby boomers and the silent generation, these older consumers purchased far more cannabis-infused topical products than their younger counterparts. For these elder marijuana users, it is evident that medical application—as opposed to recreational use—is the primary priority in their consumption habits.

He is interested in utilizing his M.A. in the Humanities to critically explore the many cultural and business facets of this youthful, emergent industry by way of his entrepreneurial projects.

Are Illinois Democrats Poised To Legalize Recreational Cannabis?

When Illinois democrats got up to debate Wednesday on who is to become the next governor, legalizing cannabis was a hot issue. Not whether to legalize it, but who wanted to legalize it the most. One candidate even called for full decriminalization.

So, if Illinois goes blue in 2018, there’s a great chance that they’ll be among the next few rounds of states to go green, too.

This is just another bit of proof in the pudding that cannabis is no longer taboo, in fact, it’s getting to be pretty much mainstream. Even Kathy Bates tried her hand at pot comedy in the Netflix sitcom “Disjointed.” There are examples everywhere, perhaps the most convincing the 29 states plus the District of Columbia going the green route.

This shift in not only policy, but outlook is not to be taken lightly. The War on Drugs has claimed many lives, including in the way of incarceration, and ingesting cannabis had naught to do with any of the deaths and quite a bit to do with the incarcerations.

In 2016, a Gallup Poll showed 60 percent of Americans in favor of legalization. It’s hard to get 60 percent of our nation to agree on most politicized issues out there, but especially something so sensitive as a plant that’s been labeled a drug and scheduled as being a high potential for abuse and with no medical benefits.

In 2018, five states are primed to go the legal road and as more legislation is introduced, more states are going to be joining the bandwagon. It only makes sense.

All the fears over all the years that legalization would bring devastation to our country have been debunked and studies show that after Colorado went legal, youth usage did not go up, neither did traffic fatalities. And in Washington, crime went down post-legalization.

In what was not a surprise to the cannabis community, but perhaps to its opponents, cannabis has also shown itself to be a warrior in the opioid epidemic. Cannabis is known to be a treatment for chronic pain and studies show that people reduce and even stop their opiate use when also utilizing cannabis. Many doctors balk at the idea of mixing medicines, even to the betterment of their patients, but the times are changing and cannabis is winning.

Will it win in Illinois? Well, if it does, Illinois would be the winner. With fiscal concerns that would be helped by cannabis taxes and revenues and the fewer arrests, trials and incarcerations to deal with and spend money on, we hope the answer is yes.
