Another Virginity For Sale: This Time, With Bonus Drama

0

Remember Katherine Stone, the young woman selling her virginity in a legal brothel to the highest bidder? Another entrepreneur is making headlines with a similar auction—and for a very similar reason. But this one’s less plucky Pretty Woman, more Jerry Springer Show.

The blog Coed reports that 18-year-old Aleexandra Khefren posted this message to an escort service site:

I was already waiting till i become 18 so i finally could sell my Virginity. Money gives you a lot of Opportunitys. I can travel around the world, study in a good University and my parents are poor, i can buy them a house. There are so many Options and i want to use them now where i am young. A lot of Girls giving their Virginity for nothing to a man who leave her after most times. Thats not worth it. So i want to use my Virginity for something that its worth it. Something that will create a better future for me. And i think the money for this auction can give me definitely a better life.

The price? A cool $1,067,995, according to The Mirror. She says she was inspired by the movie Indecent Proposal, a film about a married couple who takes a millionaire up on his offer to pay them one million dollars for a night with the woman. No plot holes in that one, surely.

Like Katherine, Aleexandra says she’s trying to raise money to better her own future and buy her parents a home. But her parents say that her story doesn’t hold up: They’re claiming to be totally fine without her auction, and don’t need a house. They’re threatening to disown her if she goes through with it.

Whatever her motives, she’s determined to do what she wants. “They have begged her not to do it, but she told them, ‘I’m 18 and I can do what I like with my body’.” Tell ‘em.

Cop Charged With Assaulting Guy In Bunny Suit Blowing Airhorn

0

On November 17, Kevin Hemmerich and his brother Jason Hemmerich went to the Hopatcong, New Jersey police station so Kevin could turn himself in on an outstanding warrant. For whatever reason, the brothers decided it’d be a good prank for Kevin to dress in a bunny suit and repeatedly blow an airhorn while in the station’s lobby.

Based on video recorded by Jason, everything seemed to be going as planned—the brothers were laughing and enjoying themselves, and the woman behind the counter was clearly very annoyed—until two officers emerged from the back of the station to angrily confront the two.

“Who’s blowing the fucking airhorn?” Officer Nicholas Maresca, Jr. can be seen asking on the video.

“Me,” Kevin sheepishly answers.

“Why you doing that?” Maresca asks.

“I don’t know,” Kevin replies.

“You don’t know?” Maresca asks before slapping violently Kevin in the head. The other officer later knocks the phone out of Jason’s hand as he was recording.

On Friday, Maresca was charged with one count of simple assault for the slap. He will remain on desk duty until the case is resolved.

“Officer Maresca acted appropriately and in accordance with his training and experience as a police officer on that evening in Hopatcong,” Anthony Iacullo, Maresca’s lawyer, told NJ.com. “We are confident that when this matter proceeds to trial Officer Maresca will be vindicated of the one charge against him.”

Kevin was detained and has since served his time in jail for failure to complete 12 days worth of work with the Sheriff’s Labor Assistance Program, which he’d been sentenced to for not having auto insurance at the time of a crash. Charges of harassment, obstruction, and disorderly conduct for his filming of the incident are still pending against his brother Jason, though Sussex County First Assistant Prosecutor Greg Mueller said his office was reviewing the “the appropriateness of the charges.”

Colorado Cracking Down On Weed Home Grows To Out Black Market

0

Colorado governor John Hickenlooper is pushing to get some legislation on the books that may help distinguish the legitimate pot growers from those operations cultivating for marijuana black market sales.

As it stands, Colorado has some of the more liberal marijuana laws in the United States. The rules of the medical marijuana program give authorized patients the freedom to cultivate up to 99 plants, while the average stoner is permitted to grow up to six plants under the language of Amendment 64. It is the state’s “generous allowances” that Governor Hickenlooper credits for creating a powerful black market, and he wants it to end.

Getting A Handle On The Situation

Therefore, a number of proposals are set to go before the Colorado General Assembly in 2017 intended to trip up the pulse of the illegal cannabis sector. Some of the bills expected to be heard is one designed to put a stop to collective recreational grow operations, as well as another intended to hold medical marijuana patients more accountable for the weed they grow.

Colorado officials are concerned that if they do not make it a point to start cracking down on the grey areas of the state’s legal cannabis trade, it will only give the government administration more of a reason to send in the dogs of the drug war to shut it down.

“We do need to clean up this system and make sure we’re beyond reproach for how well we’re regulating marijuana,” Andrew Freedman, Colorado’s Director of Marijuana Coordination, told the Associated Press.

Although the Obama Administration has taken a hands off approach to legal marijuana, giving state’s like Colorado the benefit of experimenting with a taxed and regulated pot market as long as certain rules are followed, there have been some complaints over the past couple of years that the state worries could attract unwanted attention when the Trump Administration takes over the nation in early 2017.

Federal officials have already cautioned those in charge of keeping the Colorado cannabis industry from spiraling out of control that cases of interstate drug trafficking and evidence of a black market operating comfortably in the shadows of legalization is reason for panic.

However, Hickenlooper’s plan does not appear to be that destructive to the sanctity of Colorado cultivation. Reports indicate that he is seeking a 12-plant limit in private residences, which is already the imposed restriction in some of the state’s larger jurisdictions.

Yet, some cannabis advocates argue the proposed changes are only being used as an excuse to drive the entire market to a “taxed model” – something for which the medical marijuana sector remains adamantly opposed.

California’s Edible Market Will Hit $11 BILLION Next Year

0

OutCo, a Southern California based fully vertical cannabis company has partnered with Monocle Research in Orlando to conduct groundbreaking research on the new state of cannabis in California and California’s edible market.

The recent approval of recreational marijuana use in the state of California has generated an immense amount of interest from both businesses and consumers, as they attempt to grasp the size and scope of the impending changes. With so many questions surrounding the issue, OutCo set forth to gain insight on the growing industry and its impact through this report.

The study leveraged a qualitative and quantitative approach to ensure both breadth and depth of understanding for a diverse and representative population. Research methods included in-person interviews, focus groups and online surveys cast across the entire state of California targeting users and non-users of cannabis over the age of twenty-one. Additional variables included: varying usage levels, recency-of-use and acceptance.

Report key findings include:

  • Marijuana consumables expected to grow to $11 billion by the end of 2017.
  • Industry growth will be spurred by the entrance of 7 million new or returning marijuana users into the California marketplace.
  • The rise of CBD use (a cannabis compound that has significant medical benefits). Many users and non-users expressed interest in the health benefits of CBD oils.
  • As a growing user segment, millennials are replacing alcohol outright in favor of cannabis.

“One of the most interesting findings came from the users’ viewpoint, in that the lines between medical and recreational use are blurring,” said OutCo CEO, Lincoln Fish. “With more than half of all consumers stating that they use marijuana for both medical and recreational purposes.”

The report further revealed that users are turning to cannabis to help satisfy a wide spectrum of needs from helping them to sleep, to obtaining a new perspective on life, and even to be more productive. Users were quoted as saying, “cannabis is my key to a normal life” and “cannabis is my daily vitamin,” and finally, “cannabis makes moments more memorable.”

“Our main objective is to become a leader in the cannabis industry, which is why we decided to spearhead this research. We recognize our obligation to the growing consumer base and wanted to gain a better understanding of why and how they are using cannabis,” said Fish. “OutCo is looking to set a new standard in the cannabis space by embracing the scientific and providing quality products that support customer needs.”

This Hockey Brawl Ended With 871 Penalty Minutes And Every Player Ejected

0

In the sport of hockey, brawling can happen at any moment. Though stick play, skating, and scoring triple dekes constitutes the bread and butter of play, that one man can punch another in the face whenever instills black hurricane sparks of electricity into the proceedings.

We did not know this included the cordial sportsmanship aspect of the game: the handshake line.

A hockey match in Sweden proved us wrong. Following a U18 junior game between Åker/Strängnäs HC and Flemingsbergs IK, players broke out in fight during handshakes. The brawl resulted in 871 penalty minutes and 33 game misconducts. That is absolutely insane and incredible and our new favorite fact about Sweden.
No players skated away from the scuffle without receiving penalty minutes—that is except each team’s backup goaltenders.

Feast your eyes upon this bonkers scroll of a box score.

Not a normal day in hockey. There was 871 penalty minutes altogether in a Swedish junior league game

Trying to figure out what the hell happened requires some help. A post from Afton Bladet corroborates reports about the fight breaking out during a testy handshake line, resulting in the referee throwing out everyone in the game.

The following quote from Flemingsbergs coach Fredrik Strandfeldt, comes courtesy of SBNation, who translated the original Swedish post into English.

“Me and the supply guy jumped on the ice and started to tell the guys to stop it and get away from each other. It all started with a push at the handshake line and then it continued with more pushes. I don’t think it was that bad, it calmed down quite fast and no one got hurt. It stopped quite fast in the rink,” says Flemingsbergs coach Fredrik Strandfeldt.

Using Google Translate, we also have this quote from Akers coach Jimmy Albin, who says the score sheet makes it look worse than it was, though still not an ideal look for the league.

“It is disaster and not good. Certainly, no damage, but it does not look good and it was trash talk that started it all and we have some guys who are hot. So this should not behave in an Ice Hockey,” Albin said. “We will talk about this in the team.”

Unfortunately no footage exists of the event. However, if you’re wondering about the biggest fight in NHL history, that would be the 2004 match between the Ottawa Senators and Philadelphia Flyers. That brawl resulted in 419 penalty minutes between the teams. Compared to the junior players, that figure seems like child’s play.

Yesterday, a tweet brought my attention to the wonderful Instagram account biggypop, which consists solely of videos of legendary rocker Iggy Pop and his pet cockatoo, Biggy. The account launched earlier this year and so far has just 17 posts, all of which show Iggy and Biggy doing something adorable and strange together.

For example, here’s one of Iggy doing sit-ups with Biggy perched on his knee.

Dispensaries Can Open Immediately For Montana Marijuana Patients

0

In a resounding victory for the Montana marijuana program, a judge ruled on Wednesday that dispensaries can open immediately.

District Judge James Reynolds of Helena ruled the error that a drafting error in a voter-approved initiative should not delay implementation of the law.

“The folks that are maybe the most in need are the least able to provide, to grow their own,” Reynolds ruled. “I think speed is more important than niceties.”

The initiative, approved by voters in November, reversed a law passed by the Montana Legislature that limited medical marijuana providers to three patients each. The onerous limit took effect Aug. 31 after a five-year court battle, forcing dispensaries across the state to shut down and leaving thousands of registered patients left out in the cold.

The Montana Cannabis Industry Association, authors of the initiative, intended for the three-patient limit to be ruled illegal immediately.

But, according to the Associated Press, “a last-minute flurry of activity between initiative sponsors and state officials resulted in two new sections being added to the measure, changing the numbering of the sections in the initiative.” The language  that laid out the effective dates of the various sections of the measure was not updated to reflect the final changes.

The Montana Cannabis Industry Association took their case to Reynolds, who had twice ruled to block the three-patient limit. Reynolds said the effective date issue was a clerical error.

The judge also noted that federal and state laws regarding marijuana remain in conflict. “We’re in a morass here,” he said. “Folks are speaking with their votes.”

Kate Cholewa, lobbyist for the Montana Cannabis Industry Association, was pleased with the ruling. “The people who work providing marijuana in Montana were, let’s face it, they were jerked around quite a bit,” she said. “They are somewhat used to it and very good at coming back.”

Listen As Marshawn Lynch Narrates That Epic ‘Planet Earth II’ Iguana Run

0

The greatest run ever witnessed on a grass field was performed by a beast. When he needed to dive deep within himself and harness the bestial fury within him, that’s exactly what Marshawn Lynch did.

If you’re even a casual fan of professional football, you recognize the run to which I’m referring. That would be former Seattle Seahawk Marshawn Lynch’s “Beast Quake” run in the 2011 NFC Wild Card Game against the New Orleans Saints. To quote the Indianapolis Colts linebacker, “That’s the greatest run I’ve ever seen.”

The clip above includes an interview from Lynch describing his memorable run. But that’s not the greatest run ever documented by a beast. That would instead be this clip from Planet Earth II, featuring an iguana escaping a valley of snakes. Because the internet is wonderful, a Reddit user synced the audio from Lynch’s interview with the Planet Earth II footage.

It’s stunning, it’s glorious, and most of all, it’s hilarious.

Watch as the iguana, running his favorite “Power” handoff, slips off tacklers from the would-be tacklers. Just when they think they’ve wrapped him, the iguana stays on his feet, churning those legs, until he pokes through. “Uh-oh, might be trouble,” the iguana’s thinking. But he stays up, as Tracy Porter—a real snake if you ask me—tries to bring him down. The iguana delivers a devastating stiff arm to Porter, causing him to collapse, ending his career (or something along those lines).

Without really knowing how he got there, the iguana found the end zone. Which in this case is not being eaten alive by snakes. Congratulations, iguana, on the best run and stiff arms the animal kingdom has ever seen.

Did You Know That NBA Legend Phil Jackson Used Marijuana For Pain?

0

New York Knicks President Phil Jackson made two admissions regarding marijuana Tuesday night: One about his personal use 47 years ago and the other, more importantly, about the league’s current culture.

Jackson, considered by many the greatest coach in league history, said that, like Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr, he used marijuana to treat back pain. Jackson, who missed the entire 1969-70 NBA season after having back surgery, admitted he used cannabis as a pain reliever at the time.

“I don’t know about its medicinal ability,” Jackson told CBS Sports. “I had back surgery, and the year I was off, I was smoking marijuana during that period of time. I think it was a distraction for me as much as a pain reliever. But I’ve never thought of it as ultimately a pain medication for that type of situation. I know ocular things, stomach, digestive issues and other things, I think it is regarded quite highly.

But it is his comments about the current status of the league that is most relevant.

“We’re in a situation that’s in flux,” Jackson continued. “We have states — Washington, D.C., Colorado — have legalized marijuana. Those are going to raise issues. We also have a testing regimen that we go through in the NBA, so we’re kind of in conflict with what is going to be the law. I see that as a matter of a decision that — I don’t know if we can equate it to gay marriage or whatever else, but it’s a decision that’s going to be made by our population at some point. They’re going to come out and make that decision for us, I think, instead of legislatures trying to make the decision. I think that we have tried to stop it in the NBA. I don’t think we have been able to stop it in the NBA. I think it still goes on and is still a part of the culture in the NBA. I think it is something that we either have to accommodate or figure out another way to deal with it.”

When one of the league’s most respected executives says that marijuana is “part of the culture of the NBA,” it speaks volumes.

Earlier this week, Kerr admitted to trying marijuana to help with back pain following surgery. He also said players should not be punished for using marijuana for medical use.

Former players are also speaking out in favor of cannabis instead of opiates. In a story for the Players’ Tribune earlier this year, former Chicago Bulls guard Jay Williams said he became addicted to painkillers following a motorcycle crash that ended his NBA career.
