You Can Now Enjoy Pumpkin Spice With Your Cannabis

Depending on which camp you fall into, you either love pumpkin spice season or you hate it. The lattes, the donuts, the muffins, even simple flavored coffees all offer the distinct flavor around this time of year. For this reporter, the rich spices and creamy pumpkin flavor are yearly favorites and I celebrate the season with gusto.

Now, if you’re in California, there are medicated pumpkin spice blondies! That’s right, spicy space cakes that melt in your mouth and carry with them 10mg of THC. We have Oakland California’s GOOD CO-OP to thank for this innovative baked goodie. If you want to get your hands on some, they will be sold exclusively in all cities where Eaze is available.

Peter Cervantes is this very particular blondie’s inventor as well as being the CO-OP’s head of Research and Development. These cookies are lovingly made with “real pumpkin, a special blend of spices, and organic Humboldt cannabis butter.” Yum.

“I wanted to incorporate the warmth and nostalgia of Autumn into a delicious low dose edible,” Cervantes said. “As a baked good, we felt we could one-up the iconic seasonal latte by incorporating organic pumpkin and our own proprietary spice blend, which complement the herbal notes of the cannabis.”

It sounds like he knows what he’s talking about and, even if across the country, it’s possible to conjure up just what that taste is when the herbal cannabis notes play with the spice blend. The cookie recipe sounds like it went through some serious development stages, but if you don’t live in California and LOVE the pumpkin spice craze, remember you can always experiment at home with the right herbs and some organic pumpkin. We can’t guarantee the novice’s results, but some things sound too good not to try.

Starting today and going through until the end of November, you can get these pumpkin spice cookie delights exclusively in California through GOOD CO-OP. They’re going for three cookies at $15 and are a phone call away. These pumpkin spice blondies can be delivered to your door in under 20 minutes. Enjoy, Oakland!

This Mom Needed To Break The Law To Get Her Sick Child Medicine

A mother heartbroken and frustrated over not being able to help her daughter control her seizures has resorted to making her own cannabis oil.

“The cannabis oil I’m using, it is illegal,” Katrina Spraggon told The Sunday Mail. And while it may be illegal, Spraggon is certainly not shy about telling people. She’s been open and honest about it since using it on her daughter Kaitlyn for the past three years. The nine-year old girl deals with chronic pain from spinal and hip problems — severe physical issues that see the little girl in-and-out of the hospital often.

“It’s all public on Facebook,” said Spraggon. The single mother from Queensland, Australia says the THC in the raw cannabis oil she used stopped the pain, which triggered Kaitlyn’s seizures.

She told The Sunday Mail that Kaitlyn had been prescribed a cocktail of strong opioids and other prescription drugs to deal with her 19 medical conditions but they left her heavily sedated. And that after back surgery, Kaitlyn would be “knocked out for two to three days in the hospital.” And when Spraggon started implementing cannabis oil after her daughter’s back surgery’s, it was like night and day. “Eight or nine o’clock at night, same night [as the surgery], she’s up in the ICU bed dancing. You just have to look at her for yourself.”

Spraggon is now trying everything in her power to get Queensland Health to prescribe medical cannabis, but says Lady Cilento Hospital threatened to no longer treat Kaitlyn if she continued with the homemade oil. Spraggon says police even searched her home the day Kaitlyn returned from the hospital.

A spokesman for Health Minister Cameron Dick said doctors could prescribe raw cannabis if they believed it would benefit patients. “Ms. Spraggon was advised that under Queensland’s new legal framework an application for medicinal cannabis could be made by Kaitlyn’s pediatric specialist if the specialist considered it could provide a clinical benefit.”

He says to date, 20 applications have been submitted from medical practitioners across Queensland to prescribe medicinal cannabis

5 Things Women Should Know Before Trying Out Kinky Sex

Kinky sex is a very broad term that can include as many things as you want. For some people it can mean BDSM and roleplay, while for others it can mean a little light spanking and some dirty talk. No one’s here to judge, especially when it comes to women who often don’t feel comfortable expressing themselves sexually. If you find yourself thinking about spicing up your sex life and trying out different things, don’t be afraid of exploring a little bit and of being intimidated. It’s part of it.

Here are 5 tips for every woman who’s felt curious about getting kinky:

Kinky Can Mean A Lot Of Things

https://giphy.com/gifs/knowledge-TI32JwHmWQEi4

As we said before, kinky sex is a very broad term. The Huffington Post gathered some intel on an interview with Claire Cavanah, co-founder of Babeland, who claims that ‘kink’ is an umbrella term that includes a variety of things. What you want to try is up to you and your partner, and you should never do something that you’re not comfortable with, or that doesn’t feel right.

Communication

https://giphy.com/gifs/parks-and-recreation-amy-poehler-rec-R55sOeBR22ogg

When it comes to good sex, communication is always a plus. When it comes to good kinky sex, communication is the foundation, making you feel safe and comfortable even when faced with a strange situation. It’s very important to talk to your partner about what each of you wants, and to express yourself if something doesn’t sound like it’s fun. Your level of comfort with your partner will probably determine whether or not you have a good time.

Boundaries

Setting rules and boundaries is important, especially when you’re trying out something you’ve never done before. Cavanah claims that a good starting point is to make a yes/no/maybe list that includes the things you’re curious or not curious about.

Research

You can never know too much, especially when it comes to yourself and your body. Think about what you like, and what fantasies you want to carry out in real life, while also investigating through the world of kink. You may find something that you’re attracted to, or modify something to fit into your life. Talk to your partner, talk to your friends, go to a sex workshop. The information is out there, so don’t be shy.

Don’t Be Afraid To Try New Things

Finally, the most important part of this list is to be open to new experiences. If you don’t like it, laugh about it and let it go. If you do like it, you’ll be thankful.

ACLU Report: Marijuana Arrests Are Increasing In Pennsylvania

Even though marijuana is more socially acceptable than it’s ever been, the number of arrests for possession of the drug is climbing in Pennsylvania. The ACLU just released the findings of a report seven years in the making that proves it.

According to the ACLU:

The report finds that between 2010 and 2016, there were nearly 178,000 marijuana-related arrests in Pennsylvania, nearly 80 percent of which were for possession. Marijuana possession accounted for about 48 percent of Pennsylvania’s overall drug possession arrests for adults in 2016.

A September 2017 poll from Franklin & Marshall College shows 59 percent of  Pennsylvania residents support legalization while 31 percent are in opposition. That’s compared to 56 percent support and 37 percent opposition from a poll taken this past May. As arrests have gone up in most of the state, racial disparities have also heightened.

Excluding Philadelphia, where there was a 5 percent decrease in arrests due largely to a “remarkable drop” in police enforcement, the report finds that arrest numbers for both adults and juveniles combined increased by nearly 25 percent between 2010 and 2016 and that “total possession arrests for adults alone increased by more than 33 percent commonwealth-wide when Philadelphia’s numbers were not included.”

The report also finds the state’s marijuana-related arrests increased significantly among black adults.

In 2010, the arrest rate among Black adults for marijuana possession was 6.5 times as high as the arrest rate among white adults. By 2016, the rate was 8.2 times as high among Black adults compared to white adults — a 26 percent increase in disparity.

Says ACLU spokesman Andy Hoover, “Legalization is the only solution to this problem.”

Back in April, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenny echoed Hoover’s statement. Responding to a police raid of a “smokeasy” party that netted 22 arrests, Kenny suggested a way to end this unnecessary use of police, saying, “The real solution to this is legalizing it in the state of Pennsylvania as they did in Colorado. We won’t have to use police resources in these kinds of activities and actions.”

Florida Medical Marijuana Patients Are Waiting Months For ID Cards

In continuation of the ongoing ineptitude surrounding Florida’s medical marijuana program, reports now indicate that prescribed patients are waiting multiple months to receive their ID cards.

Florida’s Office of Medical Marijuana Use states that it should take up to 30 days for residents to receive their medical ID card once they’ve applied. But a recent Orlando Sentinel story indicates that patients in need are waiting double to triple that time to obtain their ID cards.

One man described his interactions with the state medical marijuana office “The most frustrating experience of my life.”

“I mailed my $75 payment on July 19, received an email stating that my card was on the way on Sept. 18, and I still have not received the card,” the Jacksonville resident told the Sentinel.

In another case, a 72-year-old man with stage 4 prostate cancer, which has reached his bones and lymph nodes, hasn’t received the card he applied for back on Aug. 15. The state office told his daughter it was on its way Oct. 5, yet they still haven’t received as of last week.

“I thought they had their stuff together,” the daughter told the Sentinel.

The ongoing narrative surrounding Florida’s medical marijuana program follows an inability to properly establish the infrastructure necessary for medical patients. Reading in between the lines, part of this is by design. Back in May, the state Senate failed to pass marijuana legislation. That caused state health officials to lay the framework of medical marijuana in Florida, leaving the state with a limp system. As House Speaker Joe Corcoran said in May, this political gamesmanship “had nothing to do with the will of the voters.”

Florida’s Office of Medical Marijuana Use is in the process of hiring more workers to eliminate the sluggish wait times. In addition, the state agency is currently in negotiations to outsource the card production to a private company as a way to cut down wait times.

Here is the key paragraph in the Sentinel story:

New hires also will help things along. This year’s state budget approved 28 new hires for the Office of Medical Marijuana Use, which had hired 11 of them as of Wednesday, according to [Office of Medical Marijuana Use Executive Director Christian] Bax. Previous to the new state budget, there were just three employees processing applications for the tens of thousands of medical marijuana patients in the state.

In case the statement didn’t jump out to you: Three employees processing applications for tens of thousands of medical marijuana patients in the state. That is astounding. Bax admitted that the wait time needed to be scaled back, though stayed firm regarding the “30-day wait cycle” for marijuana cards.

“We are doing everything we can right now to crank these cards out because we know there are patients in very difficult medical situations, and we do not want to be the bottleneck,” Bax said before the Florida Senate committee last Wednesday.

Meanwhile, doctors and trained professionals reported something more disheartening in that same story. Cancer patients are dying before receiving their medicine.

Ivan Field, the Marijuana Doctor CEO that runs a chain of South Florida clinics, told the Sentinel, “When you get sick and you go to a doctor and they write up a prescription for you, you go right to the drug store and get your medicine. Here, it’s just unacceptable. We had a patient die, a cancer patient, waiting for their medicine.”

For those seeking legalized medical marijuana in Florida currently, it seems waiting continues to be the only option.

Vital Facts About Prince William And Kate Middleton’s New Baby

The Royal Family is having another royal baby. Kensington Palace announced that Kate Middleton and Prince William have a third baby on the way. That baby will soon enjoy Princess Charlotte and Prince George as siblings.

However, not all was rosy for the royals. As one source told US Weekly, “it was a difficult start to the pregnancy” for Duchess Kate.

Via US Weekly:

The third time wasn’t the charm. For the first 14 weeks of her pregnancy, Duchess Kate—stricken with a severe form of morning sickness called hyperemesis gravidarum—was confined to the walls of Kensington Palace.

However, she has been feeling significantly better as of late as the royal couple announced an expected due date of April 2018. The couple is leaving the baby’s gender a surprise this time, opting not to learn the tiny heir’s sex ahead of the birth.

What they will name the baby also remains a mystery. As People reported, bookies currently have bets on the name, with Alice being the odds-on favorite. While there is no specific rule against naming royal children—the couple is free to name them whatever they want—typically the Royal Family chooses from a list of historic royal names, such as Henry and Charles for boys or Elizabeth and Alexandra for girls.

“It should come as no surprise to see fairly normal yet regal names top the betting,” Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes told People. “Royal-watchers have been convinced over the last few weeks that an announcement was coming, and we’re paying out with a smile that their hunch was bang on the money.”

Regardless of being a boy or girl, the baby will be fifth in line for the throne, according to the Succession to the Crown Act. Though the baby will be after Prince Charles, Prince William, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte, the baby will be before their uncle Prince Harry.

The Magnificent Scent Of Cannabis Explained Through Science

A long time ago, back before the science of cannabis came of age, most people thought the forceful aroma of the herb came from THC. How silly we were! The fact is that the pungency of the plant comes from terpenes — powerful smell molecules that occur in many plants but occur in stronger concentrations in cannabis than most plants. The most common terps are key components in lemon, pepper, lavender, and pine. We’re not talking mild aromatherapy here. Terpenes in cannabis occur in seriously powerful concentrations. When dried and heated, they combine to form a tsunami of chemical cascades that, when combined with THC, direct the trajectory of the high.

One of those leading investigators into the effects of terpenes for health and for high, is Dr. Ethan Russo, physician, ethnobotanist, and the newly appointed Director of Research and Development at the International Cannabis and Cannabinoid Institute (ICCI). Recently, Ethan and Jahan Marcu, Chief Science Officer at Americans for Safe Access, published an extraordinary paper identifying the most prevalent of the 200 terps that make up what they call the “pharmacological treasure trove” in the plant.

Think of it. Kona Gold, Panama Red, Acapulco Gold, all these great 70s genetics that got some lucky people beautifully high had lower THC content than strains today, but they were rich in terpenes. The really amazing highs, the ones that take you in interstellar directions are the result of terpenes. Think of it like this: THC determines how wide the door to the brain opens; terpenes are the different paths that are illuminated once you walk through.

Photos courtesy of Dr. Ethan Russo.

Once you know a little about how these smell molecules work, and if you’re lucky enough to live in a legal state where the chemical components of each strain is posted, you can pretty much predict the effects. A strain like Bubba Kush has a higher concentration of myrcene and linalool (hops and lavender) terps that cause relaxation and chill. Lemon Haze is richer in pinene and limonene (pine and lemon), which makes it more uplifting and clear.

The great thing is that you needn’t be a scientist to know the major aromas at play. Listen in!

Largest Marijuana Park East Of The Mississippi Happening In Michigan

It sounds like an autumnal offshoot of Disneyland, and for some it kind of is, but Michigan’s Harvest Park in is on track to become an epic medical marijuana facility, creating hundreds of cannabis-related jobs in its wake.

Jeff Donahue, Harvest Park Development LLC’s managing director, tells Lansing State Journal he expects to see a creation of  “ancillary businesses” that specialize in fields like packaging, machine operation and data analytics.

The 63-acres of Harvest Park, located in Windsor Township in Eaton County, is portioned off into 10 lots, each for sale. And according to the LSJ, “land will be available to marijuana cultivators, processors, secure transporters, testing labs and suppliers. All will need approval from the township and state to operate. Two of the lots are already under contract with the company.”

Says Donahue, “I think the location is perfect, It’s an area ripe for development.”

Michigan state law allows cities and townships to make the call on whether or not to allow marijuana businesses — and which types — to operate.

This new park could be a financial windfall for Windsor Township, with experts predicting revenues of more than $700 million in medical marijuana annually, should it ever become fully legal.

Harvest Park is targeting spring as their official opening.

WATCH: Microsoft Employees Can Now Work From A Giant Tree House

Because free beverages, on-site restaurants and unlimited foosball isn’t enough to get the average tech worker through their day, Microsoft has unveiled a luxury tree house built for its employees who need to get work done, but also be inspired by the wilderness and gentle breezes of nature.

The roomy tree house —complete with wifi and electrical outlets — is located among the 500 acres of forest that surrounds Microsoft headquarters in Redmond, Washington (about a half hour east of Seattle). And while reading a description of the “outdoor meeting spaces” on the company’s blog, one gets the sense they’re in the presence of Henry David Thoreau.

To get to Microsoft’s most unexpected new meeting space, embark on a leisurely outdoor stroll up a planked, accessible switchback ramp. At the top, a secure wooden gate swings open to reveal a deck suspended by timber beams and cables. A minty pine perfume infuses the air. Two angled cedar awnings jut out from tree trunks, protecting employees from the elements.

Whomever wrote this post is definitely angling for a book deal.

Aloft, the usual corporate sounds of clicking doors, conference calls, and heels on concrete melt away. A fall wind sweeps through emerald branches. Every once in a while, a pinecone drops to the deck with a soft thud. A sudden ruckus breaks the gentle morning hush: a squirrel scrambling for breakfast charges across the arms of nearby hemlock and western red cedar.

It gets better. According to the blog, the treehouse is one of three new branch-based meeting spaces created by Pete Nelson of “Treehouse Masters” on Animal Planet. He reportedly kicked off the project by spending his first day on the site “connecting with the trees” for hours, according to Microsoft’s Bret Boulter, who headed up the project. He says the treehouse was built to “flex and expand as the trees grow” with an expected lifespan of at least 20 years.

The largest part of the three-pronged treehouse sits 12-feet off the ground and features “charred-wood walls and a soaring ceiling with a round skylight that lets in just a bubble of blue. It’s more Hobbit than HQ, with cinnamon-colored shingles and a gingerbread-house feel.” An elevated roost called the Crow’s Nest and a third sheltered lounge space (opening later this year) round out the trifecta.

And while this is all incredibly cool, Microsoft had an actual beneficial reason for building its adult tree house: scientific evidence shows working outdoors improves creativity, focus, and happiness. All that’s missing are the hot dogs and marshmallows.
