Here’s How Marijuana Can Help Increase Intimacy During Sex

0

Studies and anecdotal evidence suggest that cannabis has a positive effect on sexual intimacy, providing both emotional and physical results. Here’s how.

Not a lot of studies have been conducted on personal marijuana use, much less about the effect that the plant can have on couples. Still, as the years have passed and as interest in the topic has increased, a variety of cannabis products targeting people’s sex lives have appeared.

On the whole, it appears marijuana improves sex, especially for women, who often link cannabis with more intense orgasms, more arousal, and greater sexual satisfaction. A study published in the journal Sexual Medicine indicates that the more a woman uses cannabis, the more likely it is for them to experience better sex overall, with less pain and discomfort.

Another study finds a key difference between alcohol and cannabis in sex. The study, published in the journal Cannabis, claims that, unlike alcohol, cannabis has a positive effect on couples when consumed together, increasing the odds of intimacy and providing more opportunities for bonding.

The study was a small one, collecting data from just 183 married or cohabitating couples, all of them claiming to be active marijuana users. Authors of the study asked the couples to monitor their cannabis intake for a period of 30 days, with participants reporting their experiences through their smartphones before and after consuming cannabis.

Couples were asked to write a brief report each morning, indicating whether they’d consumed marijuana and if they’d had an “intimate experience” with their partner, specifying the time of this encounter. The study’s definition of an intimate experience was wide, ranging from sex and meaningful conversations, to interactions that expressed love, support and care.

After the 30 days passed and participants’ input on the study concluded, researchers analyzed the data and found that smoking cannabis increased the couples’ likelihood of having an intimate experience, especially within two hours of consuming the plant. This increased intimacy remained even if only one partner used marijuana, disproving other studies that claim that personal drug use adds stress to a relationship.

Cannabis dosage is key for any positive sexual encounter since too much of it could result in a negative sexual experience, increasing effects such as paranoia and anxiety. It could also result in sleepiness and disorientation.

In order to comprehend the full extent of marijuana’s influence on relationships and intimacy, more studies need to be conducted, particularly ones that focus on larger samples of couples, monitoring their progress over longer periods of time. Still, the majority of users who enjoy cannabis tend to enjoy cannabis and sex together, suggesting that any discomfort is likely associated with dosage, and that there’s little room for significant negative side effects.

Trick Or Treat: Tips For Keeping Candy Edibles Away From Children

0

Everyone wants to enjoy their edibles safely, so when there are kids or pets in the household, it starts with keeping them out of their reach.

Since spooky season is upon us, it won’t be long before everyone is indulging themselves in their favorite sweet treats. And for many of us, those treats could contain cannabis.

As many canna-consumers know, there is a wide variety of products on the market capable of satisfying a sweet tooth while delivering a buzz. The problem is that those treats can be easily accessed by unsuspecting children. Fortunately, there are numerous ways consumers can keep that from happening. Here are a few tips to keep kids away from cannabis.

Open and Empty Them Into a Tightly Sealed Container

One of the aspects of edibles that attracts the attention of children is the fact that they often look like the treats that they’re used to. Additionally, as effective as child proof seals can be on packages, every now and again there are kids who are smart enough to get into them anyway. That’s why one of the most effective ways of keeping them out of their hands is by removing them from the packaging altogether and keeping them in a tightly sealed jar or container. Doing that allows consumers to keep their goodies fresh, without catching the attention of children.

Keep Them Out of Sight

Storing edibles in a separate container, out of the sight of children solves numerous problems for consumers. Among the biggest are dealing with kids who accidentally eat them thinking they’re regular treats they’re used to, along with conversations about why they aren’t allowed to have them.

RELATED: No One Is Giving Your Kids Marijuana For Halloween

By having a designated location for them, the only time they come out is when you’re ready to enjoy them. That eliminates a lot of the worry that comes with consuming edibles while children are present. The key to storing edibles out of plain sight is not forgetting where they are, so they don’t go bad.

Dispose of Them Correctly

As great as edibles are, they can pack quite the punch. With that in mind, it’s easy to feel the effects of an edible set in quicker than you might have anticipated. When that happens, and consumers prefer to dispose of edibles that they can’t eat, it’s important to get rid of them safely.

RELATED: Why You Need To Be Careful Using Edibles The First Time

In many cases, leftover edibles can be conserved with foil and safe storage as mentioned earlier. On the other hand, there are cases when consumers prefer not to save their leftovers, so if that’s the case it’s best for consumers to finely break up any remnants of an edible and blend it with the rest of the waste in the garbage can.

One of the great things about consuming marijuana nowadays is the fact that consumers aren’t restricted to smoking; people can enjoy their cannabis in numerous forms like brownies, cupcakes and gummies.

New York Cannabis Board Declares Marijuana Gifting Illegal

One attorney commented that this should have been expected, considering that the state is obliged to put consumer safety first.

By Nina Zdinjak

Some seven months after former Governor Andrew Cuomo signed recreational marijuana into law, New York cannabis regulators are still figuring out which rules and guidelines are needed to make this complex program function properly.

Just last week, the Cannabis Control Board proclaimed marijuana gifting to be illegal,  writes WSKG.

Tremaine Wright, former state assemblymember who leads the regulatory body for the state’s cannabis industry, addressed the increasingly popular cannabis gifting activity. “There is no gray market in New York state,” he said. “This conduct is not legal and must stop. Individuals who do not cease run the risk of severe financial penalties.”

Wright, however, failed to provide more details regarding the penalties though she explained that marijuana from unlicensed and unregulated sources is not tested or confirmed as safe.

HempSol CBD Gets The Ball Rolling

In September, the Rochester-based HempSol CBD hit the headlines for giving away an eighth of an ounce of cannabis with the purchase of a $65 T-shirt. At the time, the shop owner said the promotional “gift” was legal under the state’s adult-use cannabis law, which allows for adults to gift each other up to three ounces of marijuana.

RELATED: New York’s First Cannabis Control Board Meeting Is On The Books!

HempSol’s idea seemed to have inspired others to do the same, with cannabis “gifting” becoming more common. Meanwhile, Jim Mackenzie, HempSol CBD owner, revealed he is looking for legal assistance and refused to comment on the situation.

Consumer Safety As Top Priority

Jason Klimek, who co-leads law firm Barclay Damon’s cannabis team, said he had his doubts around the idea of promotional pot gifting for a while now. According to him, the new remarks from the head of the state’s Cannabis Control Board should be enough to clear up any confusion around what is legal and what is not.

Klimek added that this should have been expected, considering that the state is obliged to put consumer safety first. He recalled the 2019 vaping crisis when 68 people died after using THC vape cartridges that contained vitamin E acetate.

The attorney added that now that the cannabis board has provided a clear stance, it is more likely that law enforcement will act upon cannabis gifting.

“Perhaps law enforcement is more likely to engage at this point, and if they were to do that, they would probably go after a sort of bigger operator to set an example,” Klimek said.

In the end, Klimek advised all businesses practicing promotional cannabis gifting to stop.

Florida Judge Rules In Favor Of Online Cannabis Ordering

In the ruling issued on Monday, the judge ordered Florida’s DOH to “immediately discontinue reliance on its policy…regarding the online ordering of medical marijuana through third-party websites.”

By Jelena Martinovic

As of Monday, medical patients in Florida can resume purchasing cannabis products online from licensed medical marijuana dispensaries.

The decision from Judge Suzanne Van Wyk comes months after Florida’s Department of Health announced it would fine any licensed cannabis dispensary that used third-party services to process orders.

“Contracting with Leafly.com, or any other third-party website, for services directly related to dispensing is a violation,” wrote Courtney Coppola, former Health Dept. chief of staff in a Feb. 2021 memo.

Shortly after the state’s Department of Health threatened a $500,000 fine, Florida-based medical marijuana operators started to sever the ties with third-party online companies, wrote High Times.

Prior to the February memo, Leafly worked with 277 stores in the Sunshine State, assisting in the processing of the orders of more than half a million patients.

Judge Van Wyk’s new ruling comes after the company’s legal team argued that Leafly does not take part in the dispensing of cannabis products, as it does not engage in payment transactions and distribution of products.

Leafly’s legal filing claimed that the Florida Department of Health’s memo was an “unadopted and invalid rule.”

“By certifying Ganjiers, we are creating an army of voices that deeply understand every aspect of cannabis quality and can use that expert experience to provide the highest level of service to consumers,” said Max Simon, CEO and co-founder of Green Flower, an industry leader in cannabis education.

The firm’s content and technology platform provide customized learning and compliance solutions for cannabis businesses of all sizes to make an impact in the modern cannabis industry.

“This is why there is so much excitement and demand around the Ganjier program, why we have seen such a deepening level of support from the Ganjier Council, and why we have had to double capacity for this incoming class,” Simon added.

According to Derek Gilman, managing director of Ganjier, “the legal cannabis industry is flooded with mid-grade product parading as top shelf, and true connoisseur cannabis is being drowned out. Every other epicurean industry, such as coffee, wine, beer, or chocolate has trained professionals that assess the quality and guide consumers in their experience and their product choices.”

5 Ways To Rid Your Home Of That Marijuana Smell

0

Burnt popcorn, hot showers, vaporizers and more. Here are a few ways to eliminate the linger scent of weed in your home.

One of the most emblematic aspects about marijuana is its smell. Equally particular as it is enticing, marijuana’s scent is one of the world’s most recognizable smells. It’s also one of the hardest to get rid of.

In order to prevent your fabrics and your home from reeking of weed, there are a few things you can do, although it’s always better to prevent the smell over having to erase it once it settles in.

Here are 5 of the most useful bits of advice when it comes to making your home as marijuana-smell-proof as possible:

Use vaporizers

While there’s a lot of people who prefer to smoke joints and use bongs, vaporizers are effective if you want to consume something discreet and that produces little to no smell. These devices heat up marijuana instead of combusting it, creating no weedy smell (or at least a much subtler version of it) and saving your clothes a trip to the laundry.

Have a smoke buddy with you

RELATED: How 5 People Cover Up The Smell Of Marijuana

Smoke buddies are a little clunky, but they’re a cheap and portable option that will help you get rid of lingering marijuana smoke. These devices allow you to blow smoke directly into them, leaving your surroundings odor-free. You can also make a sploof, which is cheaper and just as effective, only needing some dryer sheets and a cardboard toilet paper roll.

Have some Febreze and incense at your disposal

Febreze works in covering up the smell of weed, even if it leaves your home smelling of chemicals. If you prefer a more natural scent, you can try incense, which also produces a strong and distinct smell that will mask the odor of marijuana.

Smoke in the shower

RELATED: Here’s How Not To Smell Like Weed After Smoking

A common way to smoke marijuana on the low is to smoke in the bathroom while the shower is running. The water must be hot in order to create some steam, which will in turn mix up with the marijuana smoke and dissipate the smell.

Burn some popcorn

While this measure is extreme, it is an effective way of masking the marijuana smell. Burnt popcorn smells very strong and will stay in your house for hours, maybe even days. However, when choosing this option, you’re basically trading in one smell for another. So hopefully you know how to get the burnt popcorn smell out of your home.

Texas Judge Upholds Delta-8 THC Ban, New Hearing Expected In November

Just last week the FDA announced it will use Reddit to learn more about cannabis-derived products including CBD and delta-8.

By Nina Zdinjak

As more and more states embrace the cannabis plant in its “full form,” some still challenge the legality of hemp-based products.

Cannabis company Hometown Hero filed a suit against the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) last week claiming that its hemp policy was improperly revised in order to ban products with Delta-8 THC, reported Marijuana Moment. A Texas judge, however, disagreed with the lawsuit and ruled that the state’s ban remains.

What’s the deal with Delta-8 THC?

Delta-8 THC is a chemical component of the cannabis plant. Although delta-8-THC occurs naturally in very small concentrations, it can produce a mild psychoactive effect in some people similar to delta-9 THC. The new industrial methodologies allow for delta-8 THC to be converted from CBD derived from hemp.

New Ban Or Just A Clarification?

Due to the novelty of delta-8 products and legal questions around they are produced, the DSHS reportedly felt the need to take another step and ban products with more than 0.3% of any type of THC. More precisely, the DSHS’ site now states the following:

”Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 443 (HSC 443), established by House Bill 1325 (86th Legislature), allows Consumable Hemp Products in Texas that do not exceed 0.3% Delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). All other forms of THC, including Delta-8 in any concentration and Delta-9 exceeding 0.3%, are considered Schedule I controlled substances.”

RELATED: FDA Warns Consumers Of Risks Associated With Delta-8 THC Products

Though Hometown Hero was intending to get a temporary restraining order against DSHS to block it from taking action against companies that sell delta-8 THC, it seems the cannabis company will now need to wait for next months’ follow-up hearing, wrote the outlet.

RELATED: R.I.P. Delta-8 THC: Why States And DEA Want It Banned

The plaintiff’s attorney said in court that “the DSHS stance flips the hemp definition on its head,” while the department, on the other hand, claimed it has not made any policy change as delta-8 THC has been statutorily classified the same as delta-9 since hemp was legalized in 2019. The DSHS highlighted that it had only added clarification on its website as a way of responding to the many requests from hemp growers who found the situation confusing.

More Research Needed, FDA And Reddit

When it comes to the safety of delta-8 THC products, more research is needed.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently warned about delta-8 THC products causing unwanted health effects, though as yet seem to be lacking the hard science to back their claims.

Just last week the FDA announced it will use Reddit to learn more about cannabis-derived products including CBD and delta-8.

New Study Backs Claims That Cannabis Can Reduce Anxiety And Depression

Medicinal cannabis use was associated with lower self-reported depression, according to the study. Users also reported superior sleep, quality of life and less pain on average.

By Natan Ponieman

Cannabis is becoming universally known as a mood enhancer and anxiety-reducing substance. However, the plant notoriously lacks clinical research to inform its safe and correct use in specific psychiatric disorders like anxiety and depression. A new study published last month is shedding light on the plant’s therapeutic potential.

While a bipartisan group of federal lawmakers only recently introduced a bill to remove federal barriers for conducting research on marijuana, researchers have come up with creative ways to study the plant’s effects on the general population by conducting observational studies.

The paper, published in the peer-reviewed journal Frontiers In Psychiatry, found that medicinal cannabis use was associated with lower self-reported depression as well as decreased anxiety in adults. The research was conducted by Johns Hopkins University in association with the Realm of Caring Foundation.

An Observational Study On The Effects Of Cannabis In Anxiety And Depression

The research team conducted an observational study in which 538 participants over the age of 18 completed a series of surveys around their cannabis use and associated symptoms.

All participants included in the study had reported having anxiety or depression disorders, including major depressive disorder, postpartum depression, dysthymia, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, seasonal affective disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder or agoraphobia.

Of the total, 368 participants reported current use of medicinal cannabis products while the remaining 170 were considering the use of medicinal cannabis, but had not started yet. The latter group was used as a control group.

The surveys included validated self-reported questionnaires and investigator-developed measures of health outcomes.

Cannabis use was analyzed by indicating product type (dried flower, hemp extract oil, etc), chemotype (THC-dominant, CBD-dominant, and balanced THC:CBD ratio), dosing regimen and mode of administration.

The result? “Medicinal cannabis use was associated with lower self-reported depression,” according to the study. Medicinal cannabis users also reported superior sleep, quality of life and less pain on average.

Photo by Joshua Rawson-Harris via Unsplash

Users who initiated medicinal cannabis treatment during the follow-up period reported having significantly decreased anxiety and depressive symptoms — an effect that was not observed in patients in the control group who never initiated cannabis use.

The study concluded that medicinal cannabis use may reduce anxiety and depressive symptoms in clinically anxious and depressed populations.

RELATED: Here’s How Cannabinoids Quell Anxiety

Since the study relied on self-reported data, future placebo-controlled studies are necessary to replicate these findings and to determine the route of administration, dose and product formulation characteristics to optimize clinical outcomes, concluded the paper.

The study’s population also was not universal; it consisted of mostly Caucasian female adults. Research into broader populations sample is also vital to better understand the effects of cannabinoids in these indications.

5 Must-Have Marijuana Accessories For Newbies

0

You only need marijuana, a lighter and some rolling paper to get high, but these items will make your experience better and smoother.

Experimenting with a new activity is a trial and error process. Not everyone has the proper tools, and by the time you find out what you’re missing, your first crack at a new experience has come and gone, likely a little lackluster. This is the case with cannabis, which tends to be a messy, low-quality smoke session with friends the first time you give it a go.

While items like proper grinders and quality rolling papers are not necessary to smoke weed, they will definitely contribute to a better experience. If you’re new to the plant, a positive experience will greatly impact your relationship with cannabis, resulting in something that’s fun and easy, which is what most people are looking for when they’re first trying it. Here are 5 simple items that cannabis newbies should have on hand before getting high:

Grinder

While grinders are not necessary for packing a bowl or prepping a joint, they make the end product a much more enjoyable one. When picking apart marijuana with your hands, trichomes will stick to your fingers, robbing it from some of its flavor. Using scissors will make it more likely for you to lose a little bit of marijuana and will also result in big chunks of weed that make it more difficult for the joint or bowl to burn evenly, making your marijuana last less and taste poorly.

Quality rolling paper

Rolling Paper

Not all rolling papers are made equal. Quality rolling papers can make your marijuana last longer and can get rid of annoying and painful coughing fits. Raw rolling papers are made with organic materials, are cheap and can be found in most stores, making them one of your best options.

While there are people who use pens or pencils to roll their joints, giving the paper its joint shape, pens can also be used to pack the weed inside the joint. This method ensures that everything is snug in your joint, making it last longer, burn evenly and hold steady as you smoke it.

Clean pipes/bongs

Clean pipes and bongs are very important since they make it easier and healthier for you to inhale smoke and vapor and are also more comfortable to use. Before you start, make sure to thoroughly clean the pipe or bong you’ll be using by letting it soak in a solution of alcohol and salt or by washing it with soap and water. Can’t decide between a bong or water pipe? This is the one that produces a smoother smoke sesh.
