Is Cannabis Now The #1 Sleep Aid

Sleep is vital to a function, happy life…but sometimes is so hard to achieve. But good news – is cannabis now the #1 sleep aid?

Post hoildays, pre-summer, extra work and more – all leading to less sleep and even struggling to fall asleep. Roughly 14.5% of adults had trouble falling asleep and 17.8% of adults had trouble staying asleep. It is such an issue, people tend to drink more coffee in the winter months, especially January. But is cannabis now the #1 sleep aid? More people are turning to marijuana for help, with promising results for those struggling with insomnia and other sleep disorders.

A recent study published in Exploration of Medicine revealed that over 80% of participants reported cannabis helps them relax their mind and body for sleep. Additionally, 56% said it helps them achieve deeper sleep, and 41% reported longer sleep duration. Sleep issues can interfere with work, relationships, driving, and more. It can lead to trouble learning, focusing, and reacting. Sleep deficiency also can make you feel frustrated, cranky, or worried in social situations.

Benefits of Cannabis for Sleep

Cannabis may offer several advantages for sleep:

  1. Faster sleep onset: THC can reduce sleep onset latency, helping users fall asleep more quickly.
  2. Increased sleep duration: Some users report longer total sleep time when using cannabis.
  3. Improved sleep quality: Cannabis may enhance slow-wave sleep and overall sleep satisfaction.
  4. Reduced nightmares: THC can decrease REM sleep, potentially benefiting those with PTSD-related nightmares.

Comparison to Conventional Sleep Aids

Many users find cannabis more effective than traditional sleep medications:

  • In a 2022 study, 39% of participants stopped using their sleep medication after starting cannabis use, with 71% reporting improved sleep.
  • Cannabis users reported feeling more refreshed, focused, and better able to function the morning after use compared to conventional sleep aids.
  • Over 80% of survey participants no longer use sleep medications, preferring cannabis instead.
While research continues, these findings suggest cannabis may be a promising alternative for those seeking better sleep. However, it’s important to note individual responses may vary, and consulting with a healthcare professional is advised before using cannabis as a sleep aid.

Will Representative Dina Titus Help Cannabis

Representative Dina Titus (D) Nevada is the new chair of the cannabis caucus in Congress – will it make a difference?

She has been appointed co-chair of the Congressional Cannabis Caucus, succeeding retiring Congressman Earl Blumenauer. This appointment, announced on January 2, 2025, positions her as a leading voice on cannabis-related issues in Congress.  But will representative Dina Titus help cannabis?  Her co-chair is Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and both are in the minority party. The causcas has included bi-partisan chairs, but it is troubling at critical point, the marijority is not represented in leadership.

Titus represents Nevada’s 1st Congressional District. This includes Las Vegas, home of the national largest dispensary Planet 13 and soon to open Cannabition, an immersive cannabis experience. But does she have the political savvy and clout to make headway, especially since the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson (R-LA) is against the green plant?

As the doyenne off of the Nevada delegation, she has established herself as an effective lawmaker, focusing on issues such as affordable housing, transportation infrastructure, and environmental protection. With a background in education, Titus taught American and Nevada government at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas for 34 years before retiring in 2011. She serves on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee.

Some of her positions have run counter to the current admisntartion including legislation to ban bump stocks and her vocal support for the DREAM Act and comprehensive immigration reform. Titus has championed policies supporting children, seniors, and people with disabilities5. Her commitment to public service and her constituents has made her a respected figure in Nevada politics and on Capitol Hill.

Titus aims to address several key issues:

  • Banking services and tax treatment for cannabis businesses
  • Veteran access to medical cannabis through the VA
  • Reforming the federal scheduling of marijuana

While 24 states have legalized recreational cannabis use, it remains a Schedule I drug under federal law. Titus advocates for federal recognition of the cannabis industry’s responsible practices in these states. Titus has emphasized the need for federal reform, stating, “It is time for the federal government to recognize that and treat it accordingly”. Her appointment is seen as a step in advancing cannabis policy reform at the national level.

Cannabis industry leaders and advocates have expressed strong support for Titus’s appointment, citing her long-standing advocacy and knowledge of the challenges faced by cannabis businesses. With Mike Johnson and others seeing cannabis as an enemy, it will take wisdom, strength, ally building and more to have movement.

5 Key Benefits of Self Pleasure

More people seem to be irritable and angry…just so you know and little alone “private time” can be good for you.

Things are a bit wacky right now and some people seem a bit crabby.  Maybe a little alone time could help. An additional benefit is masturbation, a natural and healthy aspect of human sexuality, offers numerous benefits for both physical and mental well-being. Here are 5 key benefits of self pleasure.

RELATED: 5 Crazy Self Pleasure Myths Debunked

Masturbation is a powerful stress reliever and mood enhancer. When you engage in self-pleasure, your body releases endorphins, oxytocin, and dopamine – often referred to as “feel-good” hormones. These chemicals not only improve mood but also help reduce cortisol levels, the hormone associated with stress. The release of these neurotransmitters can induce feelings of relaxation and contentment, contributing to better overall mood and well-being.
Regular masturbation can serve as a healthy coping mechanism for managing life stressors and may even help alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression. The act of self-pleasure can provide a sense of control and empowerment, further contributing to stress reduction and improved mental health.

One of the lesser-known benefits of masturbation is its potential to enhance sleep quality. The release of endorphins and oxytocin during orgasm induces feelings of relaxation, making it easier to fall asleep and experience deeper, more restorative rest. For individuals struggling with insomnia or sleep disturbances, incorporating masturbation into their bedtime routine may offer natural relief.
The relaxation response triggered by masturbation can help quiet down internal dialogue or racing thoughts, promoting a sense of calm that is conducive to better sleep. This improved sleep quality can have far-reaching effects on overall health and daily functioning.
Self-pleasure provides an opportunity to explore one’s body and sexual desires without the pressure of a partner. By becoming more familiar with your own preferences and responses, you can communicate more effectively with your partner and experience greater sexual satisfaction together.
Masturbation can contribute to the strength and flexibility of the pelvic floor muscles. The rhythmic contractions that occur during orgasm help exercise these muscles, which play a critical role in bladder and bowel control, as well as sexual functioning1. For individuals experiencing pelvic pain or discomfort, gentle self-stimulation may provide relief by increasing blood flow and reducing tension in the pelvic region.

Strengthening the pelvic floor muscles through masturbation can also help reduce the risk of incontinence and other pelvic floor issues. This benefit is particularly relevant for women, as it can help improve sexual function and reduce the likelihood of urinary tract infections.
Some studies suggest that regular masturbation may have additional health benefits. For men, research indicates that frequent ejaculation might lower the risk of prostate cancer, although more studies are needed to confirm this connection. Masturbation has also been associated with improved immune system function, potentially contributing to overall health and well-being. For women, masturbation may help reduce menstrual cramps and muscle tension by triggering the production of pain-relieving hormones. Additionally, some research suggests that orgasms achieved through masturbation might even help speed up childbirth.
In all these 5 key benefits of self pleasure can be good for your well being.

Is Hemp The Future Instead Of Marijuana

He has a big audience and a huge voice with the administration – so what about Joe Rogan and marijuana?

In a surprising turn of events, hemp is starting to rival marijuana in sales, marking a significant shift in the cannabis industry landscape. As of 2025, the industrial hemp market has experienced explosive growth. Meanwhile, marijuana has acceptance by almost 90% of the country, but the 10% against it include leaders in DC. The small group seems to have blocked a path for profitably for thousands of mom and pop marijuana companies. Currently, it is unclear what the new administration will do with the rescheduling, SAFE Banking and more. But amid the chaos, hemp hums along ibeing carried in mainstream retailers like Total Wine and convience stores, allowing them access to large customer bases.

RELATED: Veterans With PTSD Are Given A Little Hope

“Hemp is living the cannabis dream. No 280E tax or punitive state excise taxes exist, while direct-to-consumer sales and interstate commerce are allowed. Intoxicating hemp is being treated like a regular commodity, while cannabis remains in the penalty box.” shared Jesse Redmond, an executive at LEEF Brands.

The surge in hemp’s popularity can be attributed to several factors. Firstly, the legalization of industrial hemp farming in many countries has opened up new opportunities for large-scale cultivation and production. In the United States, the 2018 Farm Bill paved the way for the cultivation and sale of hemp, separating it legally from marijuana by establishing a THC threshold of 0.3%.

Hemp’s versatility has been a key driver of its success. The plant offers a wide range of applications across various industries, including textiles, construction, packaging, and personal care. Moreover, the increasing demand for eco-friendly and sustainable products has fueled the growth of the hemp market, as hemp requires fewer resources to produce compared to other crops.

The rise of CBD products has also contributed significantly to hemp’s dominance. The wellness and pharmaceutical sectors have seen a surge in demand for hemp-derived CBD, further boosting the market. In fact, the top 10 best-selling THC beverage brands, many of which are hemp-based, represented 59% of in total cannabis drink sales in the year ending June 2024. Another example is Wana Brands, one for the largest edible companies in the industry, has started to produce hemp products.

Daniel Shortt, one of the partners at the Seattle firm Salzhauer & Shortt shares “At this stage, it is anyone’s guess how the new administration is going to approach cannabis. The new president has sent mixed message about cannabis, but it is clearly not a priority for the next few months which could be good for the largely unregulated hemp-derivative market.

The new administration began before the cannabis rescheduling process concluded, and an administrative law judge has now paused that process for at least 90 days. With the future of federal reform so uncertain, it’s likely that hemp products will continue to be sold widely across the country under the 2018 Farm Bill, despite significant pushback at the state level—unless Congress amends the next version of the Farm Bill. The current version of the Farm Bill governs the production of hemp but does not specifically regulate the manufacture and distribution of hemp products. While the FDA has opposed these products, it has done little to enforce actions against them. It seems unlikely that halting the spread of hemp products will be a priority for new adminstration’s FDA.”

Joe Rogan Continues To Champion Cannabis

He has a big audience and a huge voice with the administration – so what about Joe Rogan and marijuana?

The marijuana industry is struggling and thousands of mom and pop business are in limbo waiting for the federal government to add clarity to the future of the plant. During this difficult time, Joe Rogan continues to champion cannabis. Known for his candid discussions on controversial topics, Rogan often highlights the benefits of marijuana legalization, both in terms of personal freedoms and societal impact. His advocacy for cannabis reform is rooted in his belief in individual liberty and the potential benefits of marijuana use. He has argued adults should have the right to make their own choices regarding cannabis consumption, emphasizing its relatively low risk compared to substances like alcohol. In various episodes of his podcast, Rogan has pointed out that marijuana can foster creativity, relaxation, and even community bonding. He has also discussed its medicinal potential, particularly for veterans and individuals suffering from mental health conditions such as PTSD.

Rogan’s stance on cannabis legalization has intersected with political discourse. For instance, during the 2024 presidential campaign, he revealed Kamala Harris’s team declined to discuss marijuana legalization during negotiations for a potential podcast appearance. Rogan found this amusing given Harris’s prior public support for cannabis reform but speculated her prosecutorial record on marijuana offenses might have influenced this decision.

This incident underscores Rogan’s commitment to openly discussing cannabis policy, even when it challenges political figures. In addition to his advocacy for legalization, Rogan has debated the topic with guests who hold opposing views. For example, in a discussion with Congressman Dan Crenshaw, Rogan defended recreational cannabis use by comparing it to alcohol, which is federally legal despite its risks. He emphasized cannabis is a safer alternative and criticized stereotypes about marijuana users being unproductive. These debates reflect Rogan’s dedication to fostering nuanced conversations about cannabis policy.

Overall, Joe Rogan’s support for legal cannabis aligns with his broader philosophy of personal freedom and open dialogue. His platform continues to serve as a space for exploring the implications of marijuana legalization, from its social and economic benefits to its challenges. Through his podcast, Rogan has become a prominent voice in the ongoing debate over cannabis reform.

TikTok’s Double Standard on Marijuana And Alcohol

The cannabis industry shouldn’t be a fan of TikTok considering their double standard with alcohol.

While it seems the administration is a fan China and their most famous tech company, the cannabis industry is not. Alcohol use disorder is a public health concern in China, especially among men.  Culturally they are know for hard drinking, heavy smoking and occasionally illicit opium use.  But the government is very anti marijuana  lead to TikTok’s double standard on marijuana and alcohol. Despite a significant number of medical institutions recognizing the medical benefits,  China and TikTok still hate on the green plant.

TikTok has established distinct policies regarding content related to cannabis and alcohol. TikTok strictly prohibits any content that depicts or promotes cannabis. This includes not only direct advertisements for cannabis products but also any visual or verbal references to cannabis use, sales, or trade. The platform’s community guidelines explicitly state that users should not post or share content that glorifies or encourages the use of drugs, including cannabis, regardless of its legal status in various regions.

While cannabis brands can create educational content about cannabis culture and personal experiences, they must avoid showing any actual product usage or making promotional claims. For instance:

  • Allowed Content:
    • Educational videos about cannabis culture
    • Discussions on the benefits of cannabis
    • Personal stories relating to cannabis experiences
  • Not Allowed Content:
    • Videos showing cannabis use
    • Product promotions or sales pitches
    • Tutorials on making cannabis-infused products

This strict enforcement means that many users find their content removed if it even indirectly suggests cannabis use, such as showing smoke without clear context.

But, in contrast to its stance on cannabis, TikTok has updated its policies to allow advertising for alcoholic beverages under specific conditions. As of August 2024, TikTok permits alcohol ads but requires that they target users who are 25 years or older. The rules around Alcohol ads are they must not feature individuals under the legal drinking age and promotions cannot depict excessive drinking or irresponsible behavior.

Panama And Cannabis

In the news today regarding the famous canal – but what about Panama and marijuana?

Panama is the only place in the world where the sun rises in the Pacific Ocean and sets in the Atlantic Ocean. It is slightly smaller than South Carolina but has more bird species than the continental United States. It’s also home to many natural attractions, including whitewater rafting, snorkeling, and birding. Long a friend, it was the first Latin American country to use the US dollar as its currency.  Now it is the news with the new administration. Considering the talk here, what about Panama and cannabis?

RELATED: Cannabis Can Help With Holiday Stomach Issues

The economy of Panama is based mainly on the tourism and services sector, which accounts for nearly 80% of its GDP and accounts for most of its foreign income. Services include banking, commerce, insurance, container ports, and flagship registry, medical and health.  Enjoy a significant number of travelers who enjoy adventure, outdoor activities and chilling, the country’s stance on marijuana is evolving.
Panama has made significant strides in the realm of cannabis, particularly regarding its medical use. In 2021, Panama became the first Central American nation to legalize medical cannabis when President Laurentino Cortizo signed Law 242, allowing for the medicinal and therapeutic use of cannabis and its derivatives. This law was a response to growing demands from patients suffering from various medical conditions, including epilepsy and chronic pain, who had previously resorted to smuggling cannabis products due to a lack of legal options

In September 2022, the Panamanian government established regulations to support the implementation of Law 242. These regulations created a National Directorate for the Monitoring of Activities Related to Medical Cannabis, which operates under the Ministry of Public Security. This body is responsible for overseeing the cultivation, production, and distribution of medical cannabis products, ensuring patient data protection and product traceability from cultivation to sale. The Ministry of Health (MOH) is tasked with issuing licenses for manufacturing and commercializing cannabis products, with an initial cap on manufacturing licenses set at seven for the first five years. Regulations aim to ensure that all medical cannabis produced in Panama adheres to strict quality standards.
The government envisions creating a robust local industry that not only meets domestic needs but also positions Panama as a potential hub for international medical cannabis trade. While they are making advancements in medical cannabis regulation, recreational use remains illegal in Panama. The law against recreational cannabis is often unenforced, leading to a culture where its use is tolerated among the youth.  Both the public and tourist find it an easy atmosphere.

Panama has one of the fastest growing economies in Latin America and has as stable government. Like the United States, it is a republic and engages the public.  They have evaluated cannabis as a benefits and have moved to integrating into their healthcare.

Does Your Dog Really Care When You Are Sad

They are more popular than dating apps and are consider a best friend – but are they really there when you need them emotionally?

They are man’s best friend with 38% of Canadians and roughly 50% of Americans having a dog. In the US more men have dogs and in Canada more woman have the furry companion.  While they are fun, loving and play, does your dog really care when you are sad? Dogs have long been known as loyal companions, but recent research suggests that their emotional intelligence may run deeper than mere companionship; they can actually empathize with their owners’ feelings, particularly during times of distress.

RELATED: Can Pets Use Medical Marijuana or CBD

A study published in the journal Learning & Behavior explored how dogs respond to their owners’ emotional states. Researchers found that dogs not only recognize when their owners are upset but also take action to provide comfort. In the experiment, 34 dog-owner pairs were observed in a controlled setting where owners either cried or hummed a cheerful tune. The results showed that while the dogs opened a door to reach their owners at similar rates, those who heard crying did so significantly faster—averaging just 23 seconds compared to 96 seconds for the humming group. This indicates that dogs are more inclined to respond quickly when they perceive their owner is in distress.

Interestingly, the study also noted physiological responses in dogs when their owners cried. Dogs that opened the door displayed lower stress levels than those who did not, suggesting that while they were affected by the owner’s crying, they were not overwhelmed by it. Conversely, dogs  who showed high levels of stress likely cared deeply but were too anxious to act. This highlights a range of emotional responses among dogs, similar to human reactions.

The bond between dogs and their owners plays a crucial role in these empathetic behaviors. Dogs with stronger attachments to their owners exhibited quicker responses to distress signals. This bond is essential as it fosters a mutual understanding of emotions, allowing dogs to act on their instincts to comfort their human companions. As research continues to unfold, it becomes increasingly clear that our canine companions are not just pets; they are emotionally attuned partners capable of providing significant comfort during our most challenging moments.
