Meghan Markle’s Friends Must Follow This One Rule

Prince Harry’s bride knows a lot of famous types, having grown up in Los Angeles, where she enjoyed a pretty great career as an actress. Now Meghan Markle’s friends must follow this one rule. But when it comes to her private life as a Royal, mums got to be the word, or else you’re out of her and Harry’s inner circle.

A top royal source reveals to Vanity Fair that the couple enforce this strict rule to keep their friends from talking to the press. It began last year before the couple got married, when all that drama went down with Markle and her family.

RELATED: Here’s Why Prince Harry Wanted To Marry A Celebrity

The source tells Vanity Fair, “They both expect a code of silence. If you talk to the press you’re out. Harry didn’t used to care that much about what was written (in the press), he just said it was a load of shite, but he’s very protective of Meghan and defensive these days.”

According to royal editor Camilla Tominey, Harry has built “an emotional fortress” around himself and Meghan, telling Vanity Fair that the royals value loyalty more than anything else. “The princes are both very private people and have tried their best to keep the press at bay ever since their mother’s death. They are extremely protective of their wives and families and will do anything to avoid a repeat of the 80s and 90s when they felt that Princess Diana was hounded.”

But trying to silence their friends is not as easy for the couple as you might think. Their inner circle consists of some pretty well known celebs, many of whom have a large social media following.

As the Daily Express points out, Meghan’s best friend Jessica Mulroney posted an intimate photo of the Duchess on her Instagram page last year to her nearly 230K followers. The black-and-white photo of the two friends sitting on a terrace was captioned: “My favorite birthday girl”, and was quickly deleted.

Just remember, if you want to pal around with her, Meghan Markle’s friends must follow this one rule.

Kate Middleton And Prince William’s Relationship Was No Accident

We’ve all be fed a lie! A LIE! All of these stories about how Kate Middleton and Prince William met in college are apparently garbage. Word is spreading that the two may have actually met when they were kids. Kate Middleton and Prince William’s relationship was no accident!

The story we’ve all been told up until now goes something like this: Kate and William started out as friends after meeting at St. Andrew’s University in the early 2000s and eventually started dating. They broke up a couple of times and eventually got married and lived happily ever after, the end.

RELATED: Prince William Reportedly Had His Eye On This Older Woman Before Meeting Kate

In her book, Kate: The Future Queen, royal biographer Katie Nicholl reveals that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge may have met when their two prep schools played each other in hockey. She writes, “Although Kate wasn’t especially interested in boys, the arrival of one particular young man had caught her attention. Nearby Ludgrove Prep school would often play matches against St. Andrew’s Prep, and there was much excitement when Prince William, a left back on Ludgrove’s Colts team, came to St. Andrew’s to play a hockey match when he was nine years old.”

That may sound like a one-off, but according to Style Caster, there’s more evidence that Kate knew of William years before they met. Royal correspondent Matthew Bell claims that Kate’s family actually wanted her to attend St. Andrew’s just so she had the chance to meet the prince. Says Bell, “Some insiders wonder whether her university meeting with Prince William can really be ascribed to coincidence. Although at the time of making her application to universities it was unknown where the Prince was intending to go, it has been suggested that her mother persuaded Kate to reject her first choice on hearing the news and take up her offer at Saint Andrews instead.”

On top of this little nugget, it’s widely believed that Kate had posters of William hanging on her dorm room wall while she was attending boarding school. Her former roommate told Nicholl that the Duchess would say things like, “There’s no one quite like William.” Cool.

The couple even addressed this fun fact during their engagement interview back in 2010, with William joking, “She had 10 or 20 pictures of me up on her wall at university.” Kate was quick with the comeback, “No, it was the Levi’s guy on my wall, not a picture of William. Sorry!” Good girl.

Meme Of The Week: ‘Name The Film’ Is The Latest Meme For Movie Lovers

I’m sure filmmakers don’t need to hear this, but naming movies is hard. There’s an endless amount of possibilities and there will always be a moment, many years later, when the screenwriter realizes that the name could’ve been better, highlighting other aspects of your script.

The following meme requires a little bit of movie knowledge in order to be fully appreciated. In it, people upload a screenshot or gif of a movie — preferably something iconic, easily recognizable and perfect for deconstructing and misinterpreting — and then ask followers to give a name to this film.

How To Not Get Busted Smuggling Marijuana

Now that Illinois is set to start selling marijuana to adults 21 and over in a matter of six months, there is no doubt that stoners from neighboring prohibition states — Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin and Kentucky — are going to want to visit the area for the sole purpose of getting their hands on some hassle-free green. But while waiting, here are some tips on how to not get busted smuggling marijuana.

In fact, the law in Illinois allows adult non-residents to purchase marijuana from any retail dispensary as long as they have a photo ID. These consumers can only buy half the amount that is allowed to official residents. This means each non-resident will be permitted to walk away from a weed store with only 15 grams of marijuana — roughly around a half ounce. From there, finding a place to partake could prove challenging.

RELATED:

But it is not advised to travel back to your home state with marijuana in tow. You’ve got to know that it is considered federal drug trafficking to smuggle any amount of marijuana across state lines. And all of the state laws come with their own set of pot penalties that can lead to both jail and massive fines. That said, we realize that many of you will take the risk anyway and try to bring some of that Illinois marijuana home with you. However, in the interest of keeping you out of jail, we have assembled a short list of rules that should be adhered to when engaging in this illegal activity.

Travel In A Clean Vehicle

Like it or not, the reason stereotypes exist is that there is an element or two of truth in most of them. Traveling to Illinois for marijuana in an old, beat up van plastered with Grateful Dead stickers might sound like the appropriate way to go, but it is a sure fire way of getting harassed by police. It is best to travel in a newer vehicle – preferably one free of window stickers or any other decals that might allow cops to profile you as a marijuana user. You want a ride that says: “Hello, officer: I have a job, I pay my taxes and I’m a responsible, law-abiding citizen with no interest in weed.”

RELATED: Medical Marijuana Cardholders Can Still Be Busted For Stoned Driving

Make sure the vehicle is fully functional – see that all of your lights (front and back) are working properly before hitting the road.

Also, make sure the interior of the car is spotless. Cops are less likely to search a clean vehicle. Get rid of the fast food bags on the floorboard, and eliminate the various odds and ends – clothes, etc. — that people tend to toss in their backseats. If an officer does pull you over in Iowa, you want them to see the inside of your car as close to showroom spotlessness as possible. We don’t wish to give them any reason to suspect that there might be weed in the car. Clean vehicles just provide the illusion that the person driving has their act together and is not someone who would smuggle drugs. This doesn’t come with a 100 percent guarantee, but it will certainly help.

Do Not Smoke Marijuana in the Vehicle

We realize that sometimes a road trip is just better with a little buzz. We totally get it. But if you are smuggling any amount of marijuana from a legal state into an area of prohibition, this is one of the biggest mistakes a person can make.

RELATED: What TSA Would Do If You Got Caught With Marijuana

In the event a police officer does pull you over for whatever reason (swerving over the center line, speeding) you had better believe they are going to search your vehicle as soon as they catch a whiff of weed. In fact, if you have ever smoked pot in your car before, it might be best to find an alternative ride before making that visit to Illinois. We want to eliminate any chance whatsoever of a cop “thinking” that he or she smells weed during a traffic stop.

Obey the Traffic Laws

This is a no-brainer, yet we feel compelled to reiterate the importance of obeying the rules of the road. Anyone in possession of marijuana that insists on driving like an idiot is just begging for trouble. Just travel like a safe, responsible citizen and you should be fine.

Travel With Edibles and Vapes As Opposed to Flower

Although a lot of people still prefer flower, it has a potent odor that all cops by now have come to recognize. The thing about pot odor is, no matter how much you try to contain them, they permeate. This might make it easier for a cop to smell it in the vehicle (even if you can’t) and it will certainly get a K-9 riled up. Our advice is to travel only with edible pot products and disposable vapes. These types of items do not reek like raw flower and they are less conspicuous.

Marijuana’s Classification Is Based On Politics

Current drug control policies and prohibition are arbitrary, and aren’t based on pharmacological research, rather historic precedent that overly relies upon a presumed ‘good and evil’ distinction between legal and illegal drugs.

When it comes to cannabis reform, lawmakers across the country will often point to lack of empirical research as reason not to legalize or decriminalize the drug. Currently, marijuana’s classification is based on politics, not science. Which means marijuana laws are not based on data or proven information, at least according to a report from the Global Commission on Drug Policy.

The report, which is titled “Classification Of Psychoactive Substances: When Science Was Left Behind,” calls for the reclassification of illegal drugs such as cannabis, heroin, cocaine, and more to better reflect the current positions of scientific literature and the community writ large. Those drugs were either evaluated 30 years ago or never evaluated at all, which thwarts the legitimacy of international drug control.

“The international system to classify drugs is at the core of the drug control regime – and unfortunately the core is rotten,” Ruth Dreifuss, former president of Switzerland and chair of the commission,” told The Guardian.

RELATED: Why The US Led ‘Global Call To Action On The World Drug Problem’ Is A Bust

The report also found that legal substances like alcohol and tobacco have more damaging to communities than illegal ones such as ecstasy and cocaine. In turn, the commission is urging governments from around the world to reclassify these illegal drugs as well as regulate the market for of otherwise illegal substances.

Decisions around scheduling, which typically classifies the availability and medical efficacy of the drug in question, have “become subjected to political considerations and an inherent bias” against substances like ecstasy and LSD, which was rated two of the least harmful drugs in the report. These substances have also demonstrated newfound medical capabilities, which should by the nature of the system, reconstitute the classification system.

Current drug control policies and prohibition are “arbitrary,” reads the report, and aren’t based on pharmacological research but historic precedent that overly relies upon “a presumed ‘good and evil’ distinction between legal and illegal drugs.” To overcome the negativity brought by the War on Drugs and these laws, the commission recommends “implementing a more rational policy of scheduling, controlling and regulating psychoactive drugs.”

The Global Commission on Drug Policy includes 14 ex-heads of states from around the world, with representation from countries like Mexico, Portugal, New Zealand, and Colombia.

Cannabis May Treat Fibromyalgia Pain, According To New Study

Cannabis has only been fully legalized in Israel since April, but that hasn’t stopped the nation from being one of the leaders worldwide on cannabis research.

A new study out of Israel shows that fibromyalgia patients who use cannabis saw reduced pain as a result.

Fibromyalgia is experienced by 2-8% of the worldwide population, and affects the way the brain processes pain signals. One of the predominant symptoms of fibromyalgia is widespread pain across the entire body, in the form of a dull ache. Patients also often experience severe tension headaches, anxiety and depression.

RELATED: Cannabis: Beneficial Yet Effective Treatment Method For Fibromyalgia

Pain, headaches and depression are all symptoms that initial studies have shown cannabis to have some impact on, but . And now a study conducted by the Rabin Medical Center and the Cannabis Clinical Research Institute at Soroka University has studied specifically the impact cannabis can have on the pain suffered by fibromyalgia patients.

The study looked at 367 patients between 2015 and 2017 and concluded that medical cannabis is “a safe and effective alternative treatment for fibromyalgia symptoms.”

Women are more likely to be diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and of the participants in the study, 82% were women.

RELATED: The One Thing You Need To Know About Marijuana And Fibromyalgia

The study was conducted via questionnaire, of all patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia who entered Israel’s medical marijuana program between 2015-17. Patients began consuming a low dose of cannabis, then gradually increasing the dosage until they felt “therapeutic effect,” which in layman’s terms means it began to make an impact on their symptoms. Of the 367 patients with fibromyalgia, 239 completed the study, and 81.1% of those saw “at least moderate improvement in their condition” without severe side effects.

The study asked participants to rate their pain on a scale from 1-10. At the beginning of the study, the median pain level for patients was 9, and after six months the median pain level had reduced to 5. Furthermore, only 7.9 percent of the 193 participants who reported a pain level of 8-10 at the beginning of the study reported the same pain intensity after six months of cannabis treatment.

In addition to pain, the study also looked at the impact on depression. A little over 50% of patients in the study reported experiencing depression, and 80.8% of those also experienced an improvement in their depression symptoms while taking cannabis.

There were some downsides; 92.9 percent of patients reported experiencing sleep problems at the beginning of the study, but that improved in 73.4 percent of the patients and disappeared entirely in 13.2 percent of patients.

Cory Booker ‘Absolutely Disappointed’ Marijuana Reform Wasn’t Discussed In Debate

Wednesday night officially kicked off the 2020 Election season with the first Democratic presidential debate, with Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Cory Booker featured as the standout candidates. Though 15.3 million viewers watched the candidates discuss a variety of topics pertinent to the American voter, Booker expressed disappointment over the one topic not debated—marijuana legalization.

“I am absolutely disappointed that wasn’t an issue when you see voters turning out this issue all over the country,” Booker told Business Insider after the debate.

RELATED: 2019 Could End Up Being The Most Disappointing Year For Marijuana Legalization

Considering Booker’s behind one of the most progressive cannabis reform bills in Congress, his chagrin is understandable. Earlier this year Booker re-introduced the Marijuana Justice Act, which would remove cannabis from the federal controlled substances list, automatically expunge the convictions of those who served federal time due to marijuana use or possession charges, as well as reinvesting in communities most negatively impacted by the federal War on Drugs.

Booker was dismayed he didn’t have the opportunity to lay out his vision to American voters regarding one of his biggest platform points.

“I would like to see the federal government end its making marijuana illegal and pull back and let the states do what the want,” Booker said. “But I am also one of those people that thinks you cannot talk about marijuana legalization if in the same sentence you’re not talking about expunging the records of those Americans who have criminal convictions for doing things that two of the last three presidents admitted to doing.”

RELATED: Bernie Sanders Blasts War On Drugs And Emphasizes Need For Marijuana Reform In 2020

The lack of marijuana legalization is worthy of Booker’s criticism. Not only is Booker responsible for the Marijuana Justice Act, the bill was also co-sponsored by Warren and four other candidates who will hit the debate stage Thursday night—Sens. Bernie Sanders, Michael Bennett, Kamala Harris, and Kirsten Gillibrand.

Almost all of the Democratic presidential candidates have laid out some platform around federal cannabis reform on the campaign trial. The lone exception to the Democratic green rush remains former Vice President Joe Biden.
