Why Rihanna’s Stance On Body Shaming Is Amazing

Let this be a lesson to everyone: Do not come after Rihanna. Not because she will appropriately shut your body shaming comments down, but because Rihanna is one of our last remaining embodiment of “living life my way.”

We have an entire blog post in me about Rihanna being the Frank Sinatra of this generation but that’s not what this is about.

Regardless, Rihanna silenced a small contingency who were body-shaming her with an amusing Gucci Mane meme. On her Instagram are two pictures of Gucci side by side. Bubbly meme text over the photo reads, “If you can’t handle me at my 2007 Gucci Mane / You don’t’ deserve me at my 2017 Gucci Mane.”

This is all in response to a minor internet controversy following a Barstool Sports writer Chris Spagnolo posting an article titled, “Is Rihanna Going to Make Fat the Hot New Trend?”

Here is a small sample of what he wrote:

A world of ladies shaped like the Hindenburg loaded into one-piece bathing suits may be on the horizon now that Rihanna is traipsing around out there looking like she’s in a sumo suit.

No good. The article ignited serious vitriol from fans and caused Barstool founder Dave Portnoy to delete the post, suspend Spagnolo indefinitely, and explain the situation on the website.

Hopefully now that this controversy is over Rihanna may continuing what she does best: trolling Kevin Durant.
