Watch The New Red Band Trailer For ‘CHIPS’

0

No doubt inspired by the success of the 21 Jump Street remakes, the 1970s TV show CHIPS is being remade as an R-rated, foul-mouthed film staring Dax Shepard and Michael Peña. Judging from the film’s brand-new red band trailer, Peña plays an FBI agent working undercover as a California Highway Patrolman. His partner is Shepard, a rookie CHP officer who is an expert at riding motorcycles (he competed on the X Games) and not much else. The film’s humor looks to be exponentially more raunchy than the original TV series, with plenty of dick jokes and references to analingus. Maya Rudolph, Adam Brody, and Shepard’s real-life wife Kristen Bell co-star. Check out the full trailer below.

Inside Higher Leaf: The New Marijuana Store In Washington

0

Bellevue, Wash., a suburb just east of Seattle booming with growth, is home to some of the largest tech companies in the world: Microsoft, Nintendo, Expedia, T-Mobile, the list goes on. It has appeared on national lists for best places to live, best places to launch a business and wealthiest zip codes. It’s also home to the burgeoning cannabis industry.

On Tuesday, the latest — and fourth — retail store in Bellevue opened its doors. Higher Leaf which also has another location in neighboring Kirkland, had a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, welcoming new customers to the state’s’ fifth largest city.

The city, like many suburbs across the nation, initially fought the industry from opening shop. When Washington legalized recreational use of marijuana in 2012, the city leaders announced a moratorium on any cannabis businesses in the city limits. But after two years, the city council relented.

“We believe in personal freedom and that we can create a retail marijuana store that is not only welcoming and fun, but one that is part of a state-wide industry that has high standards of quality and transparency,” said Molly Honig, owner Higher Leaf locations. “We hope our store is a fun place to visit, echoing the fabulous quality of other retail shops, restaurants and businesses throughout the Eastside.”

Two years ago, Higher Leaf became the first marijuana retailer to open in Kirkland. And business is soaring.

“When we opened in Kirkland in February of 2015, we started with 11 employees. By December of last year, we had 27 employees in that location. Now with the our Bellevue store, my best guess is that we will have 40 employees by early spring. Business is good,” Honig said.

According to state data, Higher Leaf is already the sixth most popular retailer in the state and the highest in sales on the eastside of Seattle.

The store’s street entrance is located next to a drive-through Starbucks on 156th Ave SE and is just down the road from the Washington State Patrol office. The facility offers on-site parking and is near  several bus stops within walking distance.

And the company has been welcomed by the business community. It is a member of the Chambers of Commerce in both Kirkland and Bellevue, making it one of  the first marijuana retailers to become a member of any Chamber of Commerce nationwide.

“As an organization dedicated to supporting the growth of our members, The Kirkland Chamber of Commerce is excited about Higher Leaf’s upcoming expansion,” said Samantha St. John, interim executive director of the Greater Kirkland Chamber of Commerce. “We appreciate their community partnership and responsible business practices, and wish Higher Leaf continued success in Kirkland and Bellevue.”

Reporter Doesn’t Recognize NFL Star Adrian Peterson in Interview

Earlier this week, John Donnelly of Fox 26 in Houston was interviewing people on the street for a segment on road rage. At one point, he stopped a man in a purple tank top who looked an awful like NFL superstar Adrian Peterson and asked the man if he’d ever dealt with overly angry drivers. The man was polite and answered the questions thoughtfully.

I tell my wife, my brothers and sisters, that when you’re driving around just avoid any kind of road rage. You see anyone that’s heckling you on the road, just go around them, let them win. Life is too short. You never know what people, how they will react to it”

“And your name?” Donnelly asks.

“Adrian Peterson,”

“Wait. You’re not…,” the reporter asks.

“Yeah,” Peterson says with a grin.

“I knew he looked familiar,” an off-camera producer says, laughing.

Petersen even agreed to pose for a photo with Donnely after. Watch the video and check out the photo below.

Think Twice Before You Build Your Diet Around Juice

If you’re thinking about trying a juice-based or juice-supplemented diet, you might want to think again: In addition to often being high in sugar, fruit and vegetable juices remove much of the beneficial fiber when they’re blended up.

“There are things that you’re going to have in the whole fruit that you can’t get into the juice,”Dr. Keith Ayoob, Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, told ABC News about the findings of a recent American College of Cardiology study. “Also the other side is to remember that your gut is a great juicer, it just works more slowly. Let your teeth and digestive tract do what it’s supposed to do. And the fiber in fruits and vegetables is critical to a healthy diet.”

If you do have a craving for juice, remember to keep it to a small container. Sixteen ounces of apple juice reportedly contains nearly 225 calories, while the same amount “healthier” options like carrot, kale, or beet juice have over 190 calories. For comparison’s sake, 16 ounces of Coca-Cola only has 190 calories. Of course, you’re getting some nutrients with the juice that you don’t in the soda, but you should still consume them in moderation.

That said, some juices are better than others. Pomegranate juice, for instance, could help with a variety of ailments, including heart disease, inflammation, and maybe even cancer. Wheatgrass juice is packed with vitamins and minerals and is relatively low calories as is lemon juice.

Giant Gator Eats Huge Fish At Golf Course

Golfing using involves jokes, maybe a drink, clubs and sunshine. And in Florida you might see a reptile.  Rarely are you seeing a giant gator eats huge fish at golf course! Earlier this week, a woman at the Seven Springs Golf and County Club in Trinity, Florida filmed a gigantic alligator walking across the course with a huge fish in its mouth.

“Wow, what a sight,” Norma Respess said in the video. “I don’t want to get near you. I’m glad you got the fish.”

The Tampa Bay Times reports that Repress and her friend, brother, and sister-in-law were playing a round of golf at the club Thursday. Around noon, Repress’s brother shouted, “Look behind you! There’s a gator!”

Repress grabbed her phone and started filming the huge reptile. Her friend was less calm—she reportedly threw her club in the air and sprinted away

“We’ve seen several gators,” Respess told the Times. “There’s quite a bit of them over there … but we’ve never seen anything like this. We will never forget it.”

An estimated 1.25 million alligators live in the state among the 5 million across the southeastern United States, according to Defenders of Wildlife. Based on that number, alligators can be found anywhere there is water. That includes lakes, ponds, rivers, marshes, swamps and man-made canals. In fact, alligators are found in all 67 Florida counties, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says.

Basic tips to abide by while living among alligators and crocodiles in Florida include: never feed a gator, keep your distance if you see one, swim only in designated swimming areas during daylight hours and keep pets on a leash away from the water.

All alligator’s diets depend on their size and what’s available to eat, according to the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agriculture. This means they could eat, “anything including fish, frogs, birds, turtles, insects, snakes, small mammals, other alligators, white-tailed deer, wild hogs, and sometimes people’s pets.”

Did you know alligators typically swallow their meal whole? When its prey is too small to swallow whole, they stash its kill underwater, pinning it under a submerged log or anywhere it can be wedged for safekeeping, UF IFAS says.

This Video of Kermit The Frog As Ryan Gosling In ‘La La Land’ Is Perfect

‘La La Land’ was the movie that generated the most buzz and conversation of 2016, making haters and musical lovers alike claim that movies were back and better than ever. ‘La La Land’ got an almost record-breaking 14 Academy Award nominations, tying ‘Titanic’ and ‘All About Eve’ as one of the most recognized films in Academy Awards history. The movie took 6 Oscars during the much talked about event, making it the biggest winner of the night (even if it didn’t win best movie, but we all know what happened there).

Funny Or Die has done God’s work and made the mash-up of our dreams with this re imagination of ‘La La Land, called ‘Muppet Muppet Land’, starring a romantic and musically-gifted Kermit The Frog.

The video is no cheap photoshop exercise either, displaying some great moments of Kermit dancing and arguing with Emma Stone. In addition, he moonwalks, plays the guitar and the piano, has some great lines of dialogue, and sings a more nasal version of ‘City of Stars’.

The Muppets characters are no strangers to internet memes, appearing in several viral phenomenons via Evil Kermit and Evil Miss Piggy, where normal versions of the characters battle their hooded selves over their deepest and most hidden desires.

11 Senators From Legal Weed States Beg Jeff Sessions To Keep DOJ Policy

0

Eleven senators from eight states with some form of legalized marijuana have singed a letter urging new Attorney General Jeff Sessions to continue the Department of Justice’s current approach to law enforcement regarding the drug, the Associated Press reports. The letter comes a week after White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said he expects “greater enforcement” of the federal law against recreational marijuana use.

“It is essential that states that have implemented any type of practical, effective marijuana policy receive immediate assurance from the DOJ that it will respect the ability of states to enforce thoughtful, sensible drug policies in ways that do not threaten the public’s health and safety,” the letter reads. “This ensures that state infrastructure, including tax revenue, small businesses, and jobs, can be protected; DOJ resources can be used most effectively; and most importantly, that marijuana can be properly regulated to improve public health and safety. We hope that you solicit input from state and local officials to learn about their ongoing efforts and gain their perspectives on this matter.”

Senators Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker, and Lisa Murkowski are among those who signed the letter.

Under the Obama administration, the Department of Justice choose not to enforce federal laws against recreational marijuana in states that had voted to legalize it.

YouTube Unveils Streaming Service That Could Change The Way We Watch TV

0

The YouTube subscription service will cost 35 dollars a month and will offer a package that’ll be available to stream through the web, taking advantage of the fact that many people have decided to part ways with cable TV.

With Youtube TV the company joins many others, like Sony and AT&T, that’ve tried to come up with new and better ways for users who don’t want to keep paying 100+ dollars for channels that they don’t even watch. Sony Vue, Sling TV, and AT&T’s DirecTV NOW are some of the streaming services that are available at the moment, with rumors of Hulu’s and Amazon’s new streaming services joining them soon.

The main problem with these subscription services are the glitches that they’re known for having, especially during high profile events and shows where a lot of people tune in and expect a similar experience like the one you’d get with cable TV. While cable is crazy expensive and includes a bunch of channels you’ve probably never even heard of, there’s no risk of you missing out on anything important, like say the most important touchdown of the game or the moment where they announce best picture at the Oscars.

These issues are to be expected considering that these streaming services are amongst the first of their kind. Youtube TV has a great opportunity to take advantage of the knowledge that they have over their competitors, use it to improve their interface, and succeed on taking out cable once and for all. They’re also one of the few companies out there that have had direct experience with successful live online videos, which should give them an edge.

Youtube TV will offer basic channels like CBS, Fox, ABC, and NBC, which include some of their popular affiliated cable channels like ESPN, Fox News and MSNBC. Of course, for the price of 35 bucks, Youtube’s streaming service won’t be able to include some of the best shows and programs out there, provided by premium channels like HBO, CNN, Comedy Central and AMC. You can’t win them all.

Inside The Fresh Toast Seattle Oscar Party

Take a look inside the Fresh Toast Oscar Party. The evening was in partenrship with Piper Heidsieck and together hosted a glamorous Oscar party in downtown Seattle on February 28th.  Seventy-five well heeled guests sipped chilled champagne and feasted on appetizers and Chinese food during the evening. As the Best picture was announced, there was a gasp and a ripple in the crowd as the now well-documented snafu occurred.

Among the 75 guests attending were bold face names Robby London, one of the creators of the cartoon “He-Man,” philanthropist Betty Tong and former Seattle Times and Vulcan CFO Buster Brown. Also was Carie Fowler Antonelli, noted horsewoman and a board leader of Mary’s Place.

Global leader Piper-Heidsieck is a Champagne house founded by Florens-Louis Heidsieck in July 1785 in Reims, France. Heidsieck joined with Piper in October 1839. In the late 1980s, Piper-Heidsieck became part of the Rémy Cointreau wine and spirits group. It was sold in 2011 to Européenne de Participation Industrielle, a privately owned holding company of French luxury brands. Marilyn Monroe was one of the House’s earliest supporters, rumoured to have kept a month’s supply of champagne in her kitchen.[4]

Also attending was the Seattle costume designer  who has designed clothing for films, several television series and commercial productions for over 30 years and dressed celebs James Earl Jones, Dolly Parton, Parker Posey, Kurt Russell, David Lynch and many others.

Piper Heidsieck champagne is a major partner of the Academy Awards, their champagne flows at the ceremony and at swanky LA after parties. They also host a few select viewing parties around the nation. Piper has a tradition of being at the center of celebrations, and The Fresh Toast joined in the tradition while sommeliers, artists, business leaders, fashionistas and media gathered together to celebrate the evening.

The Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, are awards for artistic and technical merit for the film industry. They are presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences(AMPAS), in recognition of excellence in cinematic achievements as assessed by the Academy’s voting membership. They are considered the most prestigious, significant awards in the entertainment industry in the United States and worldwide.

The major award categories are presented during a live televised Hollywood ceremony that is typically held in February or March. It is the oldest worldwide entertainment awards ceremony. The 1st Academy Awards were held in 1929, the second ceremony in 1930 was the first one broadcast by radio, and the 1953 ceremony was the first one televised.

Lorde Lets Loose Explosive Emotions On March’s Best Track, ‘Green Light’

Lorde doesn’t hide in her music. She may subvert and distract, but she’s never in hiding. Fans of the New Zealand pop star might disagree since four years have passed since her career-launching and pop-inverting 2013’s Pure Heroine dropped. Though Lorde maintained a pop presence by lending her anesthetized-yet-earnest wailing in a Disclosure collaboration and executive producing The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 soundtrack, she had yet to release a proper follow-up to her debut album.

What enticed listeners Lorde’s direction revolved around the multiplicity within her expression—on the inescapable “Royals,” her mood flips between seditious then somber then back again. She often utilizes her ample range to produce this effect. “Ribs,” Pure Heroine’s secret gem, displays a throaty, grumbling growl drenched in moody vibrato in its verses. “It drives you crazy getting old,” she sings. The ethereal ambience of the song’s opening leads into a manic, desperate chorus where Lorde reaches into a sweeter falsetto. Between verse and chorus, the lyrics repeat, but how she sings them changes their meaning, casting aside flippancy and opting for vulnerability.

If you’re looking for any correlation in the pop singer’s gestating evolution, it’s in that record. Lorde’s new single “Green Light” explodes her talents and tensions in every direction. The blasé teen has transformed into a bitter 20-something, weary and world-worn from first heartbreak and fame. “She thinks you love the beach, you’re such a damn liar,” she snarls, capturing the tiny white lies of former lovers that lead to massive irritations.

The millennial angst of “Royals” is now confused anguish. “Did it frighten you / How we kissed when we danced on the light up floor?” Lorde whispers in a menacing staccato.

But the massive success of this single lies in the ensuing key change. A dancing piano and thumping kick drum instills forward momentum in the spirit; the record lifts. Lorde strips away any usual effects and wink-smiling moodiness she’s leaned on in the past, and belts out a giant beast of a hook. It’s the most exposed her voice has ever sounded and it’s wildly powerful. Whereas she projected apathy previously, the opposite is true—she’s apathetic toward your feelings and your reactions while she ruptures externally everything that was once just internal.

We see this too in the “Green Light” music video. Her dancing is erratic, yet carefree, appearing as if she’s wearing no makeup at all. Everything is out in the open. Even though she’s had love and lost, she’s still relentless in her pursuit of that Gatsby-esque green light. As Lorde revealed to Zane Lowe upon the record’s release, “I realized this is that drunk girl at the party dancing around crying about her ex-boyfriend who everyone thinks is a mess. That’s her tonight and tomorrow she starts to rebuild.”

This is just the first single off Lorde’s second LP Melodrama. If “Green Light” is just her tonight, we want it to be tomorrow already.
