Best Tips For A Spring Marijuana Tolerance Break

If you use cannabis for a prolonged period of time, body becomes desensitized to its psychoactive effects. When you constantly put THC in your body, the receptors that bind to it become compromised. Think of it as giving your receptors a chance to recuperate.

Reducing Consumption

Does reducing consumption over a full stop make a difference? This method certainly will help, but receptors are still being activated on a semi-regular basis. Many marijuana enthusiasts prefer this halfway approach and it works for some. If you consume multiple times a day, limit it to just at the end of the evening. If used as a sleep aid, consider opting for melatonin or other remedies for a few weeks as a replacement.

How long should it last

Everybody is different, but most programs last 4-6 weeks.  Taking a break for one or two days isn’t going to allow your body to adjust. THC can remain in your system for 30 days. Allowing the cannabinoid to flush through your system will do your body good. Just be careful on the first time you restart.

What if it is for medical reasons

This is a bit tricky. If you are use cannabis as medicine, it is smart to consult with the health professional who recommended it for the ailment. If you are currently consuming it as an aid in chemotherapy, PTSD, pain relief or any other serious ailment, it is key to balance the desire to medicate with the desire to lower your tolerance.

The best advice is to stay active. Go for long walks or to the gym. Releasing endorphins may assist in preventing or lessening the negative effects.

If you find this to be a difficult task, it may be a warning sign that you are becoming dependent on the drug. But try to focus on this silver lining: If you take a protracted break from cannabis, you’ll be saving yourself a chunk of change. And who couldn’t use a few extra bucks in the bank account?

What About Experimenting With Marijuana

It is legal to 50%+ of people and people are buzzing about it….so what about experimenting with marijuana

How you experiment is also a consideration.  If you are passed a joint, a bong, or a vape, you are likely to have a high fairly quickly. As it fades, you can make a decision on whether to continue in the moment or reflect if you would try it again.  One hit doesn’t really make you a consumer or stoner.  If you use an edible, start low and slow, a gummy might relax you, but don’t expect to buzzing like two martinis.  Give it 45 minutes and then see how it goes.

Or just curious?  All are ok reasons, but it good to know why so you can see if it accomplishes your goal.  A study published in the Journal of Affective Disorders found that marijuana reduces symptoms of anxiety, depression, and stress. Researchers found those hoping to reduce stress should use high-CBD/high-THC strains while high-CBD/low-THC varieties best help limit depression.

“Cannabis reduces perceived symptoms of negative affect in the short-term, but continued use may exacerbate baseline symptoms of depression over time,” researchers concluded.

If you have a condition like IBS, anxiety, or another medical condition is helps, it can be life-changing.  Otherwise it could just make you happy and open your mind – and you can decide if it is life-changing.

The Best Activities To Maximize Your Weekend

Sometimes you have a week of 5 Mondays and it seems a half of Saturday – here are some tips to make the most of your weekend and be ready for the next round of Mondays

Most people work 5 days then have a weekend – for some it is Saturday/Sunday for others it is more flexible. But what should be flexible is going to your mind and body a break so you can head back to work refreshed and energized. The better you are at relaxing and resting, the better you will be at working. Downtime is essential for increasing attention, boosting mood, unlocking creativity, and solving problems. It’s also necessary for improving learning and memory and restoring mental health at work.

A Stanford study demonstrates that over working has clear limitations, with employees showing a sharp decline in productivity when they clocked in more than 50 hours per week. People in the study who worked more than 70 hours per week managed to get the same amount of work done than people who worked 55 hours per week. Where does all of that time go?

Studies like these highlight how important is to have time for yourself, where you can reflect, think, rest and do things that bring you pleasure. Downtime can significantly improve mental and physical health and personal relationships. One study, for example, found employees who unplugged and took time off reduced serious health issues like coronary heart disease.

It’s important to remove yourself from work over the weekend, digitally and physically, so that you feel that you had some days off and were able to rest. This is easier said than done, especially if you need to get work done over the weekend. What you can do is make a weekend work schedule that allows you to check emails and make calls without the time you’d spend doing other more pleasant things.

Minimize your chores

Chores tend to pile up over the week, resulting in weekends where all you manage to do is clean up and fix stuff around your apartment. To avoid this, try scheduling your chores throughout the week, making them a part of your day to day routine and giving you more time to relax over the weekend.  Laundry can be done in small amount rather than a chunk of a Saturday afternoon.

Work out

This is kind of hard but it works if you’re the type of person who has a hard time easing yourself back into the week. Inconsistent wake up times over the weekend disturb your circadian rhythms, resulting in you feeling very tired and groggy despite the fact that you slept more than you do regularly. This uncomfortable feeling can also seep into your Mondays and throw the rest of your week off balance.

Use your mornings as your “me time”

Your mind achieves peak performance two to four hours after you wake up, resulting in really gratifying morning activities where you’ll get to have better workouts and enjoy whatever it is that you’re doing.

Prepare for the week

By planning some of your work ahead of time, your weeks will be much more productive. You’ll  skip the entire “set up” stage of your Mondays, jumping right into your work and making your week feel much more pleasant and easy going.

Resting during the weekend gives your body and mind a chance to recharge and recover from the stresses of the week. This can help you feel more energized and productive when you return to work on Monday. When you’re tired and overworked, it’s easy to become irritable and short-tempered but fully rested improves your mood and outlook.

What To Know About Chemotherapy And Cannabis

Nausea, lack of energy, taste, aches – chemotherapy is tough – but medical marijuana can help.

Even the hesitant becomes curious about medical marijuana when dealing with chemotherapy.  Studies have shown medical marijuana in the right dose can help relieve some of the side effects of chemotherapy. Nearly 25% of cancer patients receive chemotherapy during a given year.   And the exhaustion is real and could last months even when the treatments are over.

Data demonstrates you can take cannabis with chemo and radiation, but it is wise to have a conversation with your oncologists as you consider blending it in to your regimen. Cancer is a life-threatening illness which knows no boundaries.  The medical community is now open and researching on how to use the benefits of medical marijuana for healing parts of cancer.  Here is what to know about chemotherapy and cannabis.

During chemotherapy, cancer patients experience a range of side effects. If you’re on a strong chemo regimen, usually the day after is when you’ll experience the worst symptoms and symptoms range from dizziness to nausea and vomiting. Patients need chemotherapy because it is a powerful treatment that kills the body’s growing cancerous cells, however, these side effects often make it a gruesome experience.

Aside from the fact that cannabis helps to mitigate some of the symptoms associated with chemotherapy, it also plays a supportive role in helping the body fight back cancerous cell growth when they get into chemotherapy and radiation.

One of the earliest side effects of chemotherapy is feeling nauseous, which is a disrupting factor for cancer patients. Many patients undergoing chemo complain of feeling excessively tired, headaches, high body temperatures and so on. By incorporating cannabis with chemotherapy you can significantly reduce the bulk of these side effects.

Like most medications, medical marijuana works over a period of tine with the right dosage. Taking it once doesn’t always provide the greatest benefits immediately.

A key benefit is it helps with a patients appetite, which is important for body maintenance. Patients complain after chemo they couldn’t eat or feel hungry.  With cannabis, often the appetite returns with an increased craving for food and an urge to snack more.

Another side effect of chemotherapy is exhaustion. Coupled with feeling overwhelmed by the process they end up mental and physical challenged to move forward.  A sativa “wakes” the body up and helps through the difficult times. CBD and THC posess properties that can keep patients alert and active throughout the chemo treatment process.

Another side effect can be insomnia, despite the exhaustion, they struggle to have a decent sleep. Since chemo patients are given steroids beforehand to help with the side effects, the majority also experience insomnia. Combining cannabis can help patients feel well-rested throughout the day, thus making it easier to sleep.

You may feel exhausted when combining cannabis or any other medication with chemotherapy. It can be an overwhelming experience if it isn’t done right. Here are some pointers to help you derive the best from using cannabis:

  • Always start low and go slow: don’t take so much cannabis at the same time.
  • Always consult your doctor or oncologist if you feel like you need to take more or lessen your dosage
  • Avoid using too many products simultaneously: sometimes, you may not get the best out of cannabis because you are taking too much medicine.
  • Cannabis is very safe when used with a doctor’s guidance.

Patients are often concerned about the “method of application” of cannabis when they are in chemo: they wonder if they should smoke it, chew it or consume it via other means.  The easiest is through a tincture or oil. Under the tongue and it acts quickly without having to put stress or the lungs and it doesn’t have to be swallowed if there is nausea.  If there is no nausea a gummy or maybe a cannabis beverage can be absorbed, but it may take time.  The last way to consume is either through a vape or smoking.  It is important to discuss this method with your health professional to avoid aggravation of the respiratory system.

Does Kevin Bacon Use Weed

He is the ideal rebel for a generation – but does Kevin Bacon use weed?

He is a symbol of rebel – his defining roll in the movie Footloose set a music and rebel tone for a generation. The classic movie is about one teen’s desire to dance changed the mindset of a small town. When it premiered, marijuana was not legal anywhere in North America. The movie was filmed at Payson High School in Utah, and now Bacon is returning for the school’s prom on the 40th anniversary of the premier.  And boy, have things changed.  In 2018, Utah approved and started legal medical marijuana, a first step toward recreational. So now patients in Payson can dance and consume.

Bacon’s career continued in such diverse vehicles as Frost/Nixon, X-Men: First Class, Crazy Stupid, Love, and I Love Dick Six Degrees.  There is even a fun game/meme of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon where players try to connect actors or people to others within 6 connections – and the less connections the better.  After all this, does Kevin Bacon use weed and chill?

The 80s classic move Diner

Well, the answer is Bacon cuts loose and enjoys the plant. He is very open about it and in fact shared. “Different people react differently to it,” Bacon said. “I’m okay as long as I’m in a super, super safe kind of situation … I need to be like in bed, or something’s on. Like work, never, never, never … otherwise I can get a little paranoid.”

But sometimes, things happen. Kevin Bacon revealed to Seth Meyers he got high on marijuana with co-star Daniel Stern before filming a scene for the 80’s hit Diner. Thinking they had the day off, he and Stern head to a movie theatre to chill and watch a film.  Partially through the movie, he got called to return to the set.  Stern was not need and laughing is head off.

“I was fine. It turned out that the scene was just me walking in the background or something like that. Plus the adrenaline just straightened me right up,” Bacon said.

It is great Bacon has kept up the fight to open people’s minds about new things.

Harris was speaking at a meeting at the White House with people who received pardons from marijuana-related offices from the President. Joseph Cartagena aka the Rapper Fat Joe and Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear (D) were among the crowd.  But has Kamala Harris changed her stance on Marijuana or is this another campaign promise which will take years to follow through.

When it was a key issue about the state voting for legal marijuana, Harris opted out of the discussion.  It wasn’t until 2020 with the presidential campaign she appeared to change her mind and followed Biden’s lead in promising the cannabis industry a friend in power.  But it would be 3.5 years before any real action took place.

In 2020, the cannabis economy was just gaining major steam, but now with federal resistance, chaos in New York and California and flower price compression, it is critical something change.  Marijuana isa Schedule 1 drug as ruled by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The classification designates the plant as similar to heroin, LSD. It is seen as a dangerous drug with no medicinal uses. Science, the medical community and cannabis advocates have campaigning for the federal government to either reschedule marijuana to a different category or deschedule it entirely since it has proven medical benefits.  Alcohol is considered a drug but is not scheduled.

President Joe Biden, running for re-election, has again brought marijuana into the picture, even mentioning it in his State of the Union address.  But he said he would work with the industry in 2020, took office in 2021 and finally, tentatively suggested a change in 2023.  Harris hasn’t been given a public role in the conversation until the meeting.

Researchers at Rutgers University suggest in a study marijuana can help ease the suffering of patients with severe IBS symptoms.  They analyzed data of Nationwide Readmissions Database from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, comparing IBS patients who were cannabis users vs. non-cannabis users.
