This Essential Gift Wrapping Hack Will Save Christmas

Hate gift wrapping? You could always use a cool bag instead of paper, but there’s nothing quite like the feeling of ripping apart that paper and discovering a present within. That ripping sound is even more Christmas-y than “Jingle Bells.”

Takashima is a Japanese company that’s internet famous because of their amazing and extremely watchable videos where a lady wraps several gifts in seconds.

It’s seriously easy to watch this video for hours. Anyways, while this video is awesome, it doesn’t really point out how to do things step by step, which is why people watch videos in the first place. Youtube user, BeatTheBush, figured out a way to break down this method and uploaded a video detailing every little thing you’re supposed to do, including how much the paper is supposed to measure and how to fold each little corner to make the present look as cute as possible. Now you can wrap all of your presents in a single afternoon and have time to do other things. You can wrap your friend’s presents. You can even become a professional present wrapper, since that should definitely be a job.

Here’s the gift wrapping hack that will save Christmas:

‘Twilight’ Voted Worst Movie Of All Time

Time may pass and the world might change, but there’s one constant in life: Twilight sucks. LADBible reports that Twilight was ranked as the worst movie of all time, beating out dozens of awful movies that provided some seriously tough competition.

It’s easier to choke down fruitcake than to admit you enjoy watching Twilight once in a while, and that you cried when Edward and Bella got married. It’s emotional, okay?

Despite its many many shortcomings (stoic acting, budget restrictions, awful makeup, the list goes on) Twilight did a lot for pop culture. It’s a film franchise that managed to remain in our brains for a decade, which is no easy feat in today’s world of unending content streams. Twilight made many young women and moms (TwiMoms) read, revitalizing young adult novels. But most importantly, Twilight is the main reason behind the vampire genre boom of the 2000’s, which lead to dozens of books, movies and TV Shows. The franchise made over 385 million dollars at the box office, while also launching Summit Entertainment as a respectable production company (not to mention the careers of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson).

So, is Twilight still bad? Sure, but claiming that it’s the worst movie ever made seems like a decision based solely on the fact that it’s a movie made for young girls.

Why Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Will Spend Christmas Morning Apart

0

For their first Christmas together as a married couple, you’d think Meghan Markle and Prince Harry would be spending it snuggled up together in front of the fire, perhaps drinking royal mimosas and scones like normals. But thanks to royal tradition, the couple will actually be spending the morning apart.

While both will be hunkered down at Sandringham House to spend Christmas with the Queen, former royal chef Darren McGrady says it’s tradition for women and men to have different morning routines in the royal household.

“On Christmas Day, the ladies generally opt for a light breakfast of sliced fruit, half a grapefruit, toast and coffee delivered to their rooms,” McGrady wrote in The Daily Mail, adding that the men eat a heartier meal of “eggs, bacon and mushrooms, kippers, and grilled kidneys.” And when they return, it’s straight into pre-lunch drinks. “This is where Meghan may find she can request a glass of her favourite wine, Tignanello, a full-bodied Tuscan red,” says McGrady.

As for Christmas Eve, he says that  the first time all of the royals congregate is for afternoon tea at 4pm…

It involves a large cake, usually a ginger cake or honey and cream sponge; a fruit cake would clash with the following day’s Christmas cake. Small cakes and scones feature alongside finger sandwiches (crusts off, served in squares) filled with ham and English mustard, Sage Derby cheese and Branston Pickle or Coronation chicken, with a pot of Earl Grey tea.

We haven’t even mentioned Christmas dinner yet, but if this sounds like the kind of Hollywood diet Meghan is not accustomed to, you’re probably correct. Says McGrady, “if Meghan is anything like me, she will enjoy it immensely – every member of the Queen’s staff will welcome her, and I’m sure the kitchen will rustle up green juice and chia seeds when all the festive feasting is over.”

Seth MacFarlane Got His Parents High For The Holidays

Parents can be notoriously difficult to shop for. Usually, parents already have everything they want. Either that or the things they do want are out of your price range. So why not give them an experience they’ll never forget, like smoking weed with their offspring?

That’s what Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane did for his folks one Christmas. According to MacFarlane, his parents used to brag about the drugs they used to do as kids. So one Christmas, MacFarlane and his sister brought marijuana to the house, and quickly enticed their parents into enjoying a session.

However, as MacFarlane told Jimmy Kimmel, the experience didn’t exactly go as planned.

“My mother was just laughing a lot, predictably, and my father turned to me—and I instantly regretted the whole enterprise—he said, ‘Y’know Seth, this is the first time you and I have been stoned together as father and son.”

“Lesson learned,” he later added. “Never doing it again.”

Synergy Relief takes a 1:1 ratio of CBD and THC and infuses it into a super salve that has powerful anti inflammatory properties. Being that the THC element, as are all the cream’s elements, is absorbed through the skin, there is no psychoactive effects, but there is a true synergy that happens when cannabinoids are combined like this called the entourage effect. The CBD and THC work a special kind of magic together and if you live in a legal state, looking for a salve that has both, or even more cannabinoids, is an excellent idea.

New York Gov Pushing Marijuana Legalization In 2019

New York will be one of the next states to legalize marijuana for recreational use, that is if Governor Andrew Cuomo has anything to say about it. The Democrat announced earlier this week that his administration plans to make pot reform a high priority in 2019, signaling a major shift from the opposing stance he took on the issue just months ago. It seems Cuomo has been convinced that marijuana prohibition has had a negative impact on the state and he plans to utilize the first 100 days of his third term to make a change.

In a speech delivered on Monday, Cuomo, who was expected to use the platform to outline his plan to unleash recreational marijuana in the coming year, revealed that a taxed and regulated pot market was, in fact, coming to New York. “Let’s legalize the adult use of recreational marijuana once and for all,” he told those in attendance of the highly publicized event in Manhattan.

The governor alluded that his decision to legalize weed had more to do with protecting the rights of citizens than the hundreds of millions of dollars in tax revenue that would be generated with this plan.

“We have had two criminal justice systems: one for the wealthy and the well-off and one for everyone else. And that’s going to end,” he said, pointing out that minorities, specifically blacks, have been historically caught on the wrong end of the decades-long ban on marijuana. “We must also end the needless and unjust criminal convictions and the debilitating criminal stigma.”

Governor Cuomo’s endorsement of legal weed comes after years of opposition. It was just last year that he said marijuana legalization wouldn’t happen in New York because pot is a “gateway drug” that only stands to worsen the state’s drug problem. However, Cuomo ordered the New York State Department of Health to study the concept of legalization, which brought about a striking report that was published earlier this year. It is likely the results of the analysis, which indicated “the positive effects of a regulated marijuana market in New York State outweigh the potential negative impacts,” that inspired Cuomo to see legal weed in a more common sense light.

It could have also been the money. A separate report published over the summer by New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer shows the state could generate around $500 million in tax revenue from the legalization of marijuana. The Health Department’s analysis shows the haul would be more like $700 million. So, give or take a million or so, the state stands to enjoy a nice economic boost as a result of legal weed. It’s money that lawmakers are already trying to figure out how to spend.

Legal marijuana states have traditionally allotted tax dollars for schools and road construction, but there is a push in New York to use the money generated from the retail reefer sector to pay for a proposed $40 billion overhaul to the subway system.

But there are broader implications associated with New York’s push to join 10 other states and the District of Columbia in the legalization of marijuana. A change in New York’s pot laws could influence the federal government to take legal weed to the national level. While other states have acted frightened by the anti-pot stance of Uncle Sam, especially the wrath of former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Cuomo is taking leadership on the issue.

“Let this agenda be New York’s Declaration of Independence,” he said. “We declare independence from this federal government’s policies. We disconnect from the nationalism and the racism and the chaos and the xenophobia and the misogyny and the discrimination and the dissembling of this Washington administration.”

Cardi B Defends Offset Against Bullies: ‘You Just Saw How Pete Davidson’ Feels

Cardi B is urging her fans to be kinder to her estranged husband Offset after he tried to win her back onstage.

“I see a lot of people bashing me because they feel that because I’m defending my baby father, they think that I’m gonna get back together with him,” Cardi, who shares 5-month-old daughter Kulture Kiari with Offset, said in one video. “I’m not saying that I’m gonna get back together with him. I just don’t like that bashing online thing.”

“Just earlier, you just saw how Pete Davidson was talking about how he don’t even want to be on this earth because mad people be coming at him every single day,” she continued. “I wouldn’t want my baby father to have that feeling because of millions of people be bashing him every day. That’s a nasty feeling, and I wouldn’t want that.”

Cardi’s videos came after Offset crashed her performance at Los Angeles’ Rolling Loud festival in hopes of reigniting their romance.

Cardi seemed irritated as she responded to Offset at length. After Cardi seemingly made her point, Offset walked off the stage, and a stagehand removed his tribute to her.

Jada Pinkett Smith says she used ecstasy, weed and alcohol to cope with depression

In Monday’s episode of “Red Table Talk,” Smith addressed mental health and spoke about rapper Mac Miller, who died of an accidental drug overdose in September. The actress said she could relate to Miller’s struggles because she also dealt with issues in the past.

“When I looked at [Miller’s] circumstances I felt for him because I knew that could have been me, easily. I was the same way. In my depression, using ecstasy, drinking a whole lot, you know, and smoking a bunch of weed and trying to just find some peace in my mind,” Smith said.

“It’s like, I knew [what] I was doing — I was doing ecstasy because I wanted to party,” she added. “I was doing ecstasy, weed and a bottle of Courvoisier because I wanted to get lit. I wasn’t making the connection, and I knew … I knew I was on the course of addiction. I was very clear about it.”

Smith also revealed she had a “complete emotional collapse” when she was around 20 years old that led to suicidal thoughts.

“I had gotten to LA and gotten a certain amount of success and realized that that wasn’t the answer,” the “Girls Trip” star said. “It wasn’t what was going to make everything okay. [It] actually made this worse. I was extremely suicidal, I had a complete emotional collapse.”

Julia Roberts shares how a bathroom encounter made her realize she was famous

Julia Roberts has revealed the first time she realized the extent of her fame — but the setting wasn’t so glam!

According to the 51-year-old actress, she was 21-years-old and in a bathroom stall in Georgia when she experienced the memorable encounter.

“I went home to Georgia to visit my mom and my younger sister and we went to the movies,” Roberts shared during Monday’s episode of The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast.

“It was after the movie was over and I was in the bathroom and there was a woman in the bathroom who said, ‘Hey girl in stall number one, were you in ‘Mystic Pizza’?’”

Roberts confirmed she was indeed the actress in the 1988 film — a response which was met with the fan sliding “something under the stall,” and asking for an autograph. “I thought, ‘Wait, this is different.’”

Merriam Webster Reveals That ‘Justice’ Is The Word Of The Year

0

Fittingly, it was the year where people questioned and studied the word “justice” the most. Internet users looked up this word 74 percent more times than they did in 2017, explaining why it was awarded Merriam-Webster’s word of 2018. Maybe the world will burn down but at least the people are informed.

Merriam-Webster uploaded a post explaining that the word “justice” was a huge part of this year, having an important spot in many of the country’s most important national debates.

Via Merriam-Webster:

This year’s news had many stories involving the division within the executive branch of government responsible for the enforcement of laws: the Department of Justice, sometimes referred to simply as “Justice.” Of course, the Mueller investigation itself is constantly in the news, and is being carried out through the Justice Department. Another big news story included yet another meaning of the word justice, as a synonym or title for “judge,” used frequently during the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings for the Supreme Court.”

“Justice” is a complex word that can have different understandings depending on the context in which it’s used. It can refer to something that is fair, to an administration of law, or it can also be a judge’s official title. Defintely a word worth Googling.

Runner ups to Merriam-Webster’s word of the year include “nationalism,” “pansexual,” “epiphany”, “lodestar,” and “feckless,” which are all really powerful and thought provoking words. Then there was also “laurel,” because for a hot second we were all obsessed with that Laurel and Yanny video. Hey, it’s not 2018 if there isn’t anything embarrassing on our-year end roundup lists.

Meghan Markle’s Dad Reappears To Call Her ‘Controlling’

After several months of blessed silence and no media coverage, Thomas Markle is back at it again, this time by making an appearance on Good Morning Britain.

E! News reports that Thomas Markle spent almost 20 minutes on the show, talking about Meghan’s controlling tendencies and the fact that she has completely “ghosted” him. He’s a cool dad.

Markle goes to lengths to explain that Meghan hasn’t answered his phone calls or his texts, and that he hasn’t been able to get in touch with her since they last spoke a month after her wedding took place. Thomas is adamant that there should be a place for him in her new life since he is, you know, her father.

Here’s what he said:

She has always been a very controlling person and that is part of her nature, but she has never been rude. She has always been in charge. I’ve been ghosted. I’m not sure why it’s happening. I love my daughter very much. I wish she would reach out, send me a text, anything.

Thomas addressed the Queen, who’ll surely respond, by asking her to act as a mediator, letting her know that all families, royal or not, should be able to spend the holidays together. As if the Queen was holding Meghan Markle hostage.

When asked if he’d like to say something to Meghan in particular, he said: “I love you very much. You’re my daughter and I’d really like to hear from you. Whatever differences we have, we should be able to work them out. We’re family. So, please reach out to me.”

Piers Morgan, one of the hosts of Good Morning Britain, said that Thomas wasn’t compensated for his appearance on the show. You can check out the full video below.
