Jada Pinkett Smith admits that she hated her and Will Smith’s 1997 nuptials

Jada Pinkett Smith admits that she hated she and Will Smith’s 1997 nuptials during which she was three months pregnant with their son Jaden.

During a chat on the Facebook Watch series ‘Red Table Talk’, she said, ‘I just knew I never wanted to be married,’ she said. ‘My first trimester was horrible. And I was so upset that I had to have a wedding. I was so p***ed. I went crying down the freaking aisle, I cried the whole way down the aisle.’

Jada added: ‘I just never really agreed with the construct [of marriage]. I just don’t agree with it. I still don’t. Til death do us part is real for me, but all of the rules and all of the ideas. This title “wife,” the accepted conventional definition of wife in the paradigm – I’m not that.’

Jada made it clear she felt pressured into having a wedding by her ‘crying’ mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris – rather than the two of them exchanging vows on a mountain. Wow!

Kim Kardashian Says She Had to ‘Learn How’ to Not Be ‘So Independent’ After Marrying Kanye West

Kim Kardashian Says She Had to ‘Learn How’ to Not Be ‘So Independent’ After Marrying Kanye West.

“I think being with a man like Kanye, you have to learn how to be a little bit not-so-independent,” the 38-year-old reality star dished during the Sunday, October 21, episode of the Alec Baldwin Show. “I’ve always been so independent, and working, and [had a] schedule, and when you get married and have a husband with a career and kids, your independence … you have to let it go. I had to learn that being with a man like Kanye.”

Kardashian noted that she lets “him be who he wants to be.” She continued: “I let him have his own views and opinions, even if they’re different than mine.”

The Selfish author also revealed that her once immense craving for attention dwindled down when she tied the knot to the 41-year-old rapper in May 2014.

“We’d get our hair and makeup done filming,” Kardashian said of taping Keeping Up With the Kardashians. “When we’d be done I’d was like, ‘What is the hottest restaurant Hollywood? Where can I go? Where can I be seen?’”

She continued: “It started with Kanye … everything had to be public for me back then. And so I had to kind of flip it. Now, on my time off, I’m like, ‘Where are the locations that I can go eat, go on vacation, where no one will see us?’ All I want it privacy.”

Thomas Markle Is Happy Over Meghan Markle’s Pregnancy

While some wondered how the somewhat estranged Thomas Markle would respond to hearing the news of his daughter’s pregnancy, Markle said that he was filled with “joy, love, and happiness” in an interview with the Daily Mail. He found out while he was listening to his favorite radio show, Red Eye Radio, who interrupted their scheduled program in order to congratulate “America’s favorite royals.”

“I was sitting in line waiting to cross the border when I heard the baby announcement on the car radio,” Markle exclusively told the Mail. “The first thing I thought about was holding Meghan in my arms as a newborn 37 years ago. I thought, ‘My baby is having a baby.'”

This marks Thomas Markle’s first interview since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s pregnancy was announced. During his talk with the Daily Mail he reminisced about the birth of Meghan, who was born in Canoga Park hospital on August 4th of 1981. “It was in the middle of the night when Meghan was born by caesarean section. Doria was sleeping and so I was the first person in the world to hold Meghan.”

Kensington Palace was the first to announce of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s pregnancy. Doria Ragland, Meghan’s mother, was very excited to welcome her first grandchild. It’s believed that Ragland will be relocating to the UK in order to help care for the baby.

For his part, Thomas Markle is only saying positive things about his daughter and her marriage despite the intense scrutiny and presence of the paparazzi. “She’s always been wonderful with children and most of her friends have families so she’s used to being around kids. She will make a fantastic mother.”

How Would Marijuana-Fed Pigs Taste

The myriad conversations regarding cannabis ethics tend to focus on legalization, medicinal benefits and expungement reparations to past victims from the War on Drugs. We believe in expungement clinics, or prioritizing exclusive licenses for people of color in the industry. Because of the pressing politics inherent in these issues, they tend to dominate any media noise regarding cannabis.

But what about sustainability? Though Canada’s legalization of adult-use cannabis is worthy of applause, the government also requires the industry to destroy tons of waste that’s created in cannabis production. This is not good. Canadian growers have bemoaned the lost opportunity, citing T-shirts, animal feed, and juices as possibilities from the waste byproduct.

On a recent episode of Eater’s YouTube series “Prime Time,” hosts Brent and Ben showcase how sustainable cannabis practices can provide feed to animals, like pigs. Moto Perpetuo Farm in Forest Grove, Oregon raises its swine on cannabis, making up about 20-25 percent of their diet. (And no, the pigs don’t get high, nor will eating them get you high either. These pigs are not edibles.)

But how does that affect the taste of the animal? Vitaley Paley, the Chef and Owner at Imperial in Portland, cooks this pork at his restaurant. Executive Chef Matthew Jarrell sums it up nicely.

“For me it doesn’t really impart the flavor of cannabis or what we understand that flavor to be,” Jarrell says. “What I do taste is a healthier animal. It’s juicier pork, the texture is more resistant, there’s no mushiness involved whatsoever.”

Less waste and better tasting meat? That’s a win-win for everyone.

Is It Possible To Work Yourself To Death?

Americans have a work problem, crunching in more work hours than other first world countries such as Germany and Sweden. Working a lot sounds great in theory, but in reality is a complex problem. This trend of overworking is almost always accompanied by negative side effects and made worse by the fact that America has a notoriously bad track record with paid vacations, parental leave benefits, laws that prevent overwork, and more.

Popular Science reports that this belief that forces us to work like crazy without caring for our health has a hand in more than 150,000 U.S. deaths each year. The situation is worse in China, where a million deaths are influenced by overworking.

The book Dying for a Paycheck argues that this damaging work culture encourages sedentary lifestyles, insomnia, and stress, all factors that are a blow to your health. While jobs nowadays aren’t literally dangerous—most of us work from an office—they encourage long hours where we’re sitting down, exposed constantly to blue light and stress. The accessibility of our work also complicates matter further, never allowing us to fully separate ourselves from our jobs.

All of these factors damage our health, with The Guardian reporting that more than 13 hours of sitting down doubles our risk of mortality. There’s also a phenomenon called “karoshi” first seen in Japan, where workers literally drop dead from working overtime. A study from European Heart Journal also argues that your heart is particularly influenced by work stress, reporting findings that say that those who work for more than 10 hours a day are more likely to have heart problems than those who work 7 hours or less.

While we all need to look for ways to be more active in our work spaces and to find other activities that bring us some sort of joy, our work culture has to change and citizens need to be protected. There’s not a lot workers can do unless the laws change, and the people responsible take better care of their employees.

North Dakota Poll Sees Chance Of Passing Marijuana Legalization

North Dakota is not messing around when it comes to the legalization of marijuana. It was just two years ago that voters approved the herb for medicinal purposes. According to a new poll, there is now a distinct possibility that the people of the Roughrider State could legalize it for recreational use when they hit the ballot next month during the midterm election. But it’s going to be a close one.

Next month, voters in North Dakota will have to decide whether or not to support a proposal (Measure 3) aimed at legalizing a recreational cannabis market.

The gist of the suggested deal is that it would allow adults 21 and older the right to possess, use and grow marijuana while creating an automatic expungement process for those people with a cannabis-related conviction. As of now, 51 percent of the population is prepared to buy into this scheme, while 36 percent oppose.

But unlike marijuana legalization measures pushed through in other states, this one is unique in the way that it leaves the cannabis industry open to operate without regulatory controls. David Owen, who chairs the Measure 3 sponsoring committee, calls it a “wonderfully written” proposal, while people like Bob Wefald, a former state attorney general, who leads a group opposing the initiative, says it could be a “bad, bad law.”

There is concern that the measure will give way to a scene that is not even close to being considered acceptable by one of America’s most conservative states. However, the lack of a regulatory system would launch “free market capitalism,” allowing farmers to grow both hemp and marijuana, which would be great for the state’s economy, Owen told the Grand Forks Herald.

If Measure 3 gets pushed through, North Dakota would be home to one of the most liberal cannabis laws in the country. While the lack of regulations might seem strange, it could be becuase marijuana legalization in other parts of the nation comes with much stricter rules. However, Measure 3 would not be set in stone. It is likely that the State Legislature would step in after its passage and fix what some are calling a “poorly written” proposal. That is what happened after the voters approved a statewide medical marijuana program back in 2016.

“We took something that was infinitely worse—as far as how it was written—infinitely worse than the full legalization measure, and we still made it work, and we can do the same thing with this measure,” said State Representative Rick Becker of Bismarck, who says he will support Measure 3 at the polls.

Unfortunately, due to the state’s interference in medical marijuana, not a single patient has been given access. That system is not expected to be up and running until 2019.

But to get a recreational marijuana law on the books in North Dakota, the poll finds that younger people must show up to vote.

“Passage of Measure 3 is greatly dependent upon the voters under the age of 50 voting in at least their historical percentages,” The Kitchens Group wrote in a polling memo. “If the electorate is skewed toward the older, more conservative voters, passage could be problematic.”

A City In Texas Is Allowing People To Test Out Self-Driving Cars

The city of Arlington, Texas plans on becoming one of the first cities that tests out self-driving cars, encouraging tourists and residents to take a trip aboard their brightly colored smart vehicles.

Starting October 26th, three Drive.ai self-driving vehicles will be available for rides around town. This trial period will last for a year, with the company planning on increasing the amount of cars from three to five and giving out rides to all sorts of passengers who are interested in the technology.

In order to test out these vehicles, people must download the Driver.ai app and order a car from one of the five different pick up points located around the city. Cars have three routes that visit important tourist spots such as the Dallas Cowboys stadium, the Texas Rangers ballpark, restaurant areas, and more.

While the cars are controlled by AI, there will be a back up driver in the pilot seat and a “chaperone” in the passenger seat who’ll keep an eye on things and make sure that everything looks safe. The AI car has several digital panels installed that explain to passengers, pedestrians, and other cars on the road what the vehicle’s next move is going to be.

Mashable reports that these cars are very easy to identify, painted in bright blue and orange colors, with CEO Bijit Halder claiming that “self-driving cars should stand out and proclaim themselves as self-driving cars.”

The purpose of these rides is safety and convenience; Halder believes that if passengers are bored and safe while on their ride, then he’s done his job.

Panasonic Designs Blinders To Prevent Workers From Getting Distracted

0

Work spaces and companies from all over the world have been looking for ways of increasing our productivity, encouraging workers to get less distracted while on the clock. It’s a big issue in a world that demands more and more of its employees, while at the same time providing millions of distractions that come in all shapes and sizes.

What’s the answer? Panasonic thinks we should wear blinders, like the horses in Central Park.

Tastefully called “Wear Space”, these giant blinders prevent you from getting distracted because you won’t be allowed to see anything else other than what’s right in front of you. Designed to cover about 60 percent of your vision, you won’t have much to do except work. Or talk to your co-worker very attentively.

Panasonic developed this project with the help of designer Kunihiko Morinaga in hopes of making distractions invisible and increasing personal space for workers.

Via Dezeen:

As open offices and digital nomads are on the rise, workers are finding it ever more important to have personal space where they can focus. Wear Space instantly creates this kind of personal space—it’s as simple as putting on an article of clothing.

Is it though?

The product is currently being crowd-funded. Hopefully, Wear Space is one of those weird inventions that never quite makes it to market so office spaces and creative people can go on investing in something that’s actually useful. Like private offices.

This Marijuana Infused Fresh Pasta Is Perfect For Lazy Fall Weekends

All forms of pasta from ancient Chinese noodles to iconic Italian iterations have been a huge part of human history, and they still feed many cultures. As long as pasta has been around, cannabis has been there, too, though until today’s big consumables boom, they weren’t always combined.

Today you can find weed pasta at swanky private events and consumption celebrations in legal states, but predominantly it’s a DIY affair. This is at least until Ronzoni’s board of directors encounters a blunt and decides to offer this brilliant bit of comfort food on the common products market.

Pasta is really just flour and water, and sometimes eggs and oil, with herbs and seasonings added on occasion, even squid ink in some regions. This product is often dried and hardened, but in it’s freshly made form, it cooks in a fraction of the time and tastes incredible. We developed dried pasta in the past to preserve wheat harvests for as long as possible, as breads don’t keep as long, and flour used to be hard to protect from pests.

Cannabis pasta doesn’t have to come from a $100-plus dinner plate with unknown amounts of THC when you can simply create an oil and egg dough with the exact dose you need.

Cannabis Infused Handmade Tagliatelle

Danielle Guercio, 2018

Estimated 10mg of THC per plate, serves 4

3 large eggs, room temperature

1 tbsp cannabis infused olive oil*

2 cups flour, semolina or all purpose for dough

½ cup all purpose flour for rolling and dusting

Pasta dough can be made with either a machine or your hands, in all of its steps, but it has a basic process of knead, rest, roll, dry, then cook. Whether you used a machine to form the dough, shape it, or even dry it, you can and will get your hands dirty in the process. Each step that can be done by a machine was traditionally done by hand, and is not so difficult to do if you practice. It can be helpful to make notes on your batches, such as how sticky the dough was, any shrinkage that’s occurred when cooked, the all-important development of sufficient gluten (to achieve al dente greatness), and ultimately the most important part: the taste.

Create a dough to bread machine or stand mixer machine specs depending on what you use, or make it by hand with the well technique. Heap your flour on a work surface, dig out a well (like with mashed potatoes), and pour in the eggs and oil that have been whisked together. Using a fork or your hands, gently stir more and more flour into the central well until a sticky dough begins to form. Fold and knead this dough in layers like an aggressive version of biscuit building, you want to pack down the gluten with little air to create the dense chewy noodles you crave. Add a pinch more flour if the dough feels too sticky. Let it rest for 15 minutes, making ahead of time if need be, rolling out just before cooking.

Using a rolling pin or pasta extruder, work ¼ of the dough at a time, sprinkling with flour generously, until it’s a thin, nearly translucent sheet. Keep it even by working out from the center in all directions. When the sheet is thin enough, roll vertically to create a tube, then use a sharp knife to cut ¾” segments, creating a long pasta strand. Sprinkle with more flour and use your open fingers to rake up and gently shake out the noodles. Drape over a floured surface and allow to dry for a few minutes before cooking.

To prepare your pasta, bring a large heavy bottomed pot of water that’s generously seasoned with salt to a vigorous boil. Drop in a test noodle to determine your ideal cooking time and the salinity of the water but 1-2 minutes is usually sufficient. Do not oil the water as this will block the sauce from absorbing after the pasta is ready.

Serve with a creamy porcini sauce or a rich tomato sauce, you want something hearty to stand up to the pasta. Swirl the drained noodles around in your sauce in a pan for 30 seconds to help it absorb into your tagliatelle before sprinkling with cheese and serving up.

5 Things To Know About The Royal Nanny

As we wait with bated breath for the arrival of baby Sussex, there is one woman who has been overlooked when it comes to the growing royal brood. And that’s the royal nanny.

Did you know there’s an entire college dedicated to training royal nannies? A training which takes at least three years? Not only that, but these nannies are subject to strict background checks by the U.K. Disclosure and Barring Service, which are updated every three years. There are so many things these nannies must be savvy about, and knowing how to care for future kings and queens is just the beginning.

Nanny Maria takes care of Princess Charlotte and Princes George and Louis, but her duties are no different than any other royal nanny before her. Reader’s Digest has a laundry list of royal nanny secrets. Here are 5 particular noteworthy ones:

They have a sixth sense about paparazzi

It’s not that the royal nanny doesn’t realize she and her kiddos will be photographed by the media, it’s just that the royal nanny is a pro at pretending she doesn’t care. In addition, according to Reader’s Digest, “she’ll have to be constantly cognizant of photographers trying to snap photos of the royal children, particularly when the royal children might not be behaving as royal children ‘should be’ behaving.”

Continued education is non-stop

Norland college, which is basically the Wharton of nanny colleges, strongly advise their students to spend 15 hours a year continuing their education once they graduate to “ensure they are keeping up to date with the latest best practices of child care and early years research.”

Her opinions are important

Not long ago, royal nannies were able to share their views and opinions on raising children, but today, they have a much larger role in raising the kids besides offering up some professional advice. So much so that, according to Reader’s Digest, Norland’s training includes “how to advise parents and to navigate the politics of advising parents about how to properly care for their children.”

The title of ‘royal nanny’ is very prestigious

Unlike America, the work of the royal nanny tends to be highly valued and respected in England. The job of a nanny — royal or English trained in general — is considered prestigious.

Spanking is not allowed

Of course, no royal nanny is allowed to inflict corporal punishment — Norland straight up prohibits it. So when George is being a little jerk, a stern-talking to is recommended.
