How Many Hours It Takes To Make A New Friend

0

It’s pretty easy to make new friends when you’re a kid. Once you get up the courage to go talk to a buddy in class, the next thing you know, you’re sharing snacks during recess. But as we become adults, it get a little tougher for some. Your social circles don’t expand quickly and often, your co-workers become your inner circle.

But a new study published in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships took this topic one step further and found out precisely how many hours it takes an adult person to make a  new friend. For the study, friendship status was examined as a function of hours together, shared activities, and everyday talk.

According to PureWow, which got their hands on the study:

…it takes about 50 hours of time together to go from being acquaintances to casual friends, and approximately 90 hours before you feel comfortable upgrading them to “friend” status. Finally, it takes more than 200 hours before considering someone a close friend or best friend.

The study found that there is a strong correlation between friendship and time spent together, but not when it comes to work. Your officemate may never be your BFF, regardless of whether or not you can hear every single one of their phone conversations.

The average American adult hasn’t made a new friend in five years. Five years! So, if you’re wondering how to make friends, you’re not alone.

Here are 9 places where you can meet new people and make new friends:

  1. Volunteer in your community.
  2. Join a local gym or sports league.
  3. Visit a neighborhood coffee shop or juice bar regularly.
  4. Join a professional networking group.
  5. Become a donor or support your community arts, zoo or museum organizations.
  6. Go to church or join a spiritual study group.
  7. Take your dog to the dog park.
  8. Visit neighborhood food, art and music festivals.
  9. Take a class or learn a new skill through a community college or learning center

Best of luck in finding new friends!

Majority Believes Marijuana As Moral As Gambling

As the culture war rages, cannabis moves to the mainstream, especially when compared to other controversial issues.

The cultural wars have heated up with everything from abortion to bathrooms to Don’t Say Gay.  But is weed still an issue, it seems not. A majority believes marijuana as moral as gambling, not surprising since nearly 50% of people say they have tried cannabis. Seven out of every 10 Americans believe smoking marijuana is morally acceptable, according to a Gallup poll.  Currently there are 23 recreational and 40 medical states, the stigma is falling away in the public’s eye.

The poll captures American views on 21 different issues considered controversial now or at some point in the past. Other actions considered morally acceptable on par with smoking cannabis were gambling, sex before marriage, and divorce. While cannabis may be firmly entrenched in the mainstream there are ideas still considered taboo to many Americans. Issues that more people view as morally wrong than morally acceptable include abortion, pornography, and polygamy.

Predictably, ideology factors considerably into how Americans responded to the poll and smoking marijuana represented one of the largest gaps between those who identified as conservative vs. liberal. Fifty-one percent of conservatives found smoking marijuana morally acceptable, but 83% of liberals said the same. Only six other issues, including sex before marriage, abortion, and gay or lesbian relations, had larger gaps in opinion.

“Public opinion continues to drastically evolve in favor of marijuana’s legal and cultural status and it is time that the federal laws evolve as well,” NORML Political Director Justin Strekal said. “As we approach Independence Day, it is reassuring to see that majorities of both sides of the ideological spectrum agree that adults should be free from the shackles of marijuana prohibition.”

Indeed, smoking marijuana was morally acceptable across all demographics and age groups, according to detailed survey results. Education levels, age, and race didn’t show any drastic divides on the issue. In light of recent calls for criminal justice reform, NORML believes this could be a key opportunity to push federal cannabis legislation.

Said Strekal, “Politicians in Washington should take this opportunity ahead of the 2020 elections to move forward legislation, like The MORE Act, to both amend this failed policy and address the inequities and injustices it has brought for generations, particularly against communities of color.”

Of course, most people don’t consider billion dollar lottery tickets purchases as gambling.

Marijuana Use And Guy’s Member

Some studies have shown a negative correlation between cannabis and the function of erectile tissue, while others tout weed as a positive contribution.

Since marijuana is one of the most popular recreational drugs on the planet, scientists have been interested to know what all that consumption may be doing to the sexual experience. When it comes to men, that typically breaks down into a few subjects: sperm count, erections, orgasms and sex drive. Let’s explore marijuana use and guy’s member.

Sperm Count

Growing up in the 80s and 90s, boys were painfully aware of two widely traveled stories: 1)  Mountain Dew, specifically yellow #5, shrinks your penis and 2) marijuana reduced your sperm count. Although it probably hurt sales among teen boys, the Mountain Dew story was completely false.

On the other hand, a percentage of men who heavily use marijuana have been shown to have lower sperm count and reduced quality of sperm composition. This may impact 29% of heavy users. That number increases when additional drugs are used as well.

RELATED: The Essential Facts About Marijuana and Testicular Cancer

But science doesn’t always provide an easy out. In some cases, the opposite is true and contradictory information is discovered. In one study, CBD, a non psychoactive cannabis compound,  has shown to actually be an activator of sperm creation. Additional research will determine if this may be great news to men suffering from fertility issues.

Erections

Want to sell a product? Tell men that it will give them a bigger penis or more robust and dependable erections. It is surefire. The erectile dysfunction pharma business is worth between 3 and 4 $Billion annually.

So what does weed do to affect erections? Once again, the results are mixed. Some animal and in vitro studies have shown a negative correlation between cannabis and the function of erectile tissue.

RELATED: Marijuana Can Help You Keep An Erection Longer

However, others have pointed to the ability of the herb to relax the user, reduce blood pressure and improve blood circulation as positive contributions towards healthy erections. Erectile dysfunction is not yet approved in any state as a qualifying condition for medical marijuana.

Orgasms

Information here is currently limited. One Australian survey found that in males aged 16-64 males who were daily users vs. non users was associated with an increase in reporting of difficulty having an orgasm. The same did not hold true for women.

Sex Drive

The Indian Hemp Commission Report of 1894 claimed that the drug had “no aphrodisiac   power whatsoever.” Many users would dispute that finding.

A Canadian study of a small group of participants found roughly 50% of respondents said cannabis increased their sex drive, touch sensitivity and enhanced the experience of sex.

A similar study of Kansas City residents found that, “over two-thirds reported increased sexual pleasure and satisfaction with marijuana use.” An older study published in the Journal of Psychoactive Drugs revealed that 75 percent of male respondents said that cannabis enhanced their sex lives.

Like so much regarding cannabis science, we need to know more. There are inherent challenges with the existing data regarding age of the studies, limited sample size and a need for standard double blind, placebo control research. So guys, when that researcher calls you or invites you to participate in a reputable study about marijuana and sex, sign up. They need to speak to more men with experience of mixing their sexual adventure with a bit of top shelf bud and what better way to contribute to the field of science.

Bell’s Palsy Symptoms Relieved By Full-Spectrum CBD Oil

Bell’s Palsy is a condition where the facial nerve is inflamed, compressed or otherwise swollen. The muscles in the face either droop or go into painful paralysis. For Curt Platt, half of his face suddenly droopped one day a couple weeks after going through a virus such as he’d never before experienced. Now it seems Bell’s palsy symptoms relieved by full-spectrum CBD oil.

Platt stood urinating into the toilet, and as is his morning habit, he went to spit into the receptacle while relieving himself. Only the spit didn’t clear his chest, not once, not twice but several times. He looked up into the mirror and couldn’t believe his eyes, the left one of which was unable to blink. Platt went to the doctor immediately who in turn diagnosed him within minutes.

That diagnosis was 12 years ago and in that time, though the initial symptoms cleared after a matter of weeks, Platt has experienced recurrences of Bell’s palsy that put him out of commision for sometimes weeks at a time. These relapses happened around once a year, sometimes skipping a year, sometimes doubling up, but were usually stress related, at least in Platt’s opinion.

During that time, the man who had spent decades on Wall Street tried everything he could to mitigate the Bell’s palsy symptoms. He visited doctors Florida, tried different specialists, was recommended muscle relaxers to which he said, “No thank you,” did his own research and nothing worked, that is until a buddy turned him onto full spectrum CBD tincture.

Platt was skeptical while waiting for the oil to come in the mail, but, “I was still watching for it,” laughed Platt, who told The Fresh Toast that by that time he was desperate to try anything that came recommended. He also added that, “Doctors don’t have a clue.” Someone he has grown to have faith in, however, is Andrew Clark, cofounder of World Class Health CBD. Clark was the one to recommend a CBD tincture also rich in the cannabinoid CBG.

When said tincture arrived at Platt’s location, he was in the throes of a full on episode. He didn’t feel well and didn’t have control over the left side of his face. “How long should I wait before expecting results?” was one of Platt’s first questions and he balked at the assertion that he should see something within minutes.

Lo and behold, some five to 10 minutes later his friend who he was staying with in Florida came home and said, “Hey, your face looks better!” and Platt retorted that he felt better as well. He kept taking the tincture at the high dose until the symptoms receded 100 percent (they had already gone down 90 percent in that 10 minute span). Now he takes a maintenance dose and hasn’t had a relapse since April of this year.

The Fresh Toast spoke with Clark to find out the secret behind their particular CBD oils, why he thinks they work so well and his opinion on THC medicine. He had some pretty fascinating answers.

TFT: Is there any detectable THC in your medicines?

AC: It’s completely THC free. It’s all the way undetectable. We start out with hemp plants with less than .3 percent THC. We extract the oil and it still has some THC in it, so what we do is use chromatography to remove the THC, so we go the extra step… A lot of people in the industry dilute their tincture or oil with the solute they’re using, so that way they get the less than .3 percent to make it legal, but they’ve diluted the CBD content, so then they pour isolate in to increase the CBD. The thing that’s unfortunate is when they put the isolate back in, they’re not putting the CBN, the CBC, the CBG, so you’re getting extremely low on the other cannabinoids when you choose to dilute rather than use chromatography. Even though it’s a little more expensive it’s a much better product.

TFT: The tincture you send Curt is high in CBG, why?

AC: Unfortunately there’s not enough research being done because [every part of cannabis] is Schedule I, but I have read certain studies that have come out of Israel that CBG has really good effects on your nerves and can even be shown to cause neurogenesis, which is the regrowing of brain tissue basically. So with Bell’s palsy, his facial nerve, what’s going on there is it gets swollen and then the myelin sheath around the nerve begins to clamp down on that nerve, so the nerve begins to lose function and if it stays clamped too long, that’s when the nerve can die. That’s where we see the long term Bell’s palsy. So I thought with the anti-inflammatory properties of CBD and the small amount I’ve read about CBG causing neurogenesis – some people are even calling it the stem cell cannabinoid – the combination of the two would be the best chance we would have to treat him.

TFT: Is there an entourage effect with the different cannabinoids Curt is using?

AC: Certain cannabinoids are better for certain jobs than others, so, sometimes it takes the anti-inflammatory of CBD to bring down that myelin sheath around his facial nerve and then the CBG to do its magic on reviving that nerve, so there’s definitely a synergistic effect, and you’ll see that with CBN as well. CBN really helps people with sleep as well as with osteoporosis. There’s absolutely a synergistic effect and that’s why our tinctures are full spectrum.

TFT: What about THC, where is its place at the table medicinally in your opinion?

AC: THC gets kind of a bad rap because it gives you that stoned effect that can be dangerous if people get behind the wheel or certain things, but it can be used synergistically with CBD or for the treatment of certain diseases, for example Parkinson’s has a great reaction to THC. There’s actually a video on our website of a gentlemen who takes I believe a 1:1 ratio of THC to CBD and it takes away his shakes and brings back his voice within five minutes. So I definitely think there’s a place for THC in the medicinal world, but it’s going to be a while before we can get some more studies done and everything is cleared off Schedule I.  Fingers are crossed data will indicate Bell’s palsy symptoms relieved by full-spectrum CBD oil.

Refreshing Grapefruit Summer Drinks

When the temperature rises above 90 degrees for what seems like days on end. When the swamp that is slowly running down your back makes a beeline for your brow- burning on the way down… you know that it is time for a refreshing little cocktail. One that smacks of tart and slightly acerbic flavor- a touch of smoke- a hint of sweet- the peel of citrus, the oil of grapefruit.  Here are refreshing grapefruit summer drinks that are a riff on the classic Hemingway daiquiri.  We have a nice blend of cocktail with two having medical grade cannabis in the mix.

Decarbing is an essential method of making cocktails that have the THC in them. THC. I don’t work with CBD, so please- don’t ask. Hemp is rope, building materials, cosmetics- not carefully crafted cocktails made with non-commercial spirits. All you’ll get is a headache.

The Amos Speck Hemingway

Amos wasn’t the first mayor of Denver. This is a take on the Hemingway made with Cannabis infused Absinthe and Rhum Agricole from Martinique.

Decarb your cannabis in the Nova Decarboxylation chamber — it’s a self contained, microprocessor controlled chamber that looks like a thermos bottle. It decarbs cannabis to 100% bioavailability, making for perfect infusions.

Deep inject the decarbed cannabis into the alcohol of your choice with two cylinders of nitrous oxide — venting and shaking the ISI between each application.

Strain through cheesecloth and rest in the freezer for an hour or so, strain then use in craft cocktails.

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz. (100mg Decarbed Cannabis) infused into Rhum Agricole
  • ½ oz. White Balsamic Vinegar
  • ½ oz. Maraschino Liqueur (like Luxardo, think dry, not sweet!)
  • 3 oz. Freshly Squeezed Grapefruit juice
  • Grapefruit Zest
  • Fresh ice
  • Cannabis Smoke

Prep:

Fill a frozen rocks glass with cannabis smoke. Add one large cube of ice and cover with a lid. To a Boston Shaker combine the Rhum Agricole, the balsamic vinegar, the Maraschino Liqueur, the Grapefruit Juice and lots of fresh ice. Cap and shake hard for 30 seconds. Strain over the large ice in the cannabis smoke filled rocks glass. Garnish with a grapefruit zest. Serve.

The next little Cannabis infused drink is named for another mayor. In this case he was from Seattle. The Corliss Stone Hemingway has hints of another one of my favorite cocktails- the Absinthe Frappe’. In this case we will force THC into Absinthe and then add a portion of both grapefruit and lemon juices, a touch of Maraschino, fresh mint, a touch of Rose scented simple syrup finished with a splash of seltzer.

The Corliss Stone Hemingway

  • 1.5 oz. Cannabis Infused Absinthe –like Lucid or Jade
  • ½ oz. Rhum Agricole
  • 3 oz. Freshly Squeezed grapefruit juice
  • ½ oz. Freshly Squeezed lemon juice
  • ½ oz. Maraschino Liqueur
  • bunch of perfectly washed fresh mint
  • 1 oz. Rose Simple Syrup – like from Royal Rose in Maine
  • Fresh Ice
  • Cannabis Smoke filled Collins Glass with large ice cubes

Prep:

Into a Boston Shaker, muddle the mint lightly to reveal its perfume. Add some fresh ice. Top with the juices. Add the Absinthe. Add the Rhum Agricole. Add the Maraschino. Add the Rose Simple Syrup. Cap and shake hard for 30 seconds or so. Fill a frozen Collins Glass with cannabis smoke. Add one spear of hand cut ice and a zest from a grapefruit. Double Strain the cocktail over the spear ice and serve.

AC Bonnell was an early mayor of Portland, Oregon. I honor him with this little grapefruit soda that has more than just a touch of rum in the mix.

AC Bonnell Fizz

  • 2 oz. Freshly Squeezed Grapefruit Juice
  • 1 oz. Rhum Agricole
  • 4 oz. Grapefruit Seltzer
  • 3-5 drops Bittered Sling Rhubarb Bitters

Prep:

Into a Collins glass with some large cube ice: Add the Rhum Agricole. Top with the Grapefruit Seltzer. Float the Grapefruit juice on top. Dot with the Rhubarb Bitters and serve. Definitely not sweet!

Eliphalet Greeley Cocktail

Mr. Greeley was an early mayor of Portland, Maine

  • 2 oz. Rhum Agricole VSOP
  • 6 oz. Freshly Crushed Sugar Cane Juice
  • Coconut water Ice
  • 1 oz. Cane Sugar Syrup
  • Splash of lime juice

Prep:

To a cocktail mixing vessel, fill ¾ with bar ice. Add the VSOP. Add the Sugar Cane Juice. Add the Cane Sugar Syrup. Add the Lime Juice. Stir. Strain over Coconut water ice cubes in a Double Old Fashioned glass. The final drink of this series is another take on the acidulated beverages that we call Shrubs- in a Hemingway-esque style- full of flavor and bite!

Henry Lang was an early mayor of Newark, NJ. What he has to do with Hemingway is not known, they didn’t even live in the same era.

Henry Lang Hemingway

  • 2 oz. Rhum Agricole
  • 2 oz. Freshly Squeezed Grapefruit juice
  • 1 oz. Maraschino Liqueur
  • ½ oz. White Balsamic Vinegar
  • 1 oz. Champagne (add at end)
  • 1 oz. Hendrick’s Gin
  • 1 oz. Dark Simple Syrup

Prep:

To a Boston Shaker filled ¾ with bar ice. Add the juice. Add the Rhum Agricole. Add the maraschino. Add the gin. Add the vinegar. Add the simple syrup. Cap and shake really hard. Strain into a Double Old Fashioned glass with a grilled grapefruit slice (broil or grill grapefruit rounds and cool before using — grill marks are a big plus!)

What To Do If Your Pet Is Overweight

We treat our pets like mini-humans – but sometimes “sharing” with them can make them a bit chunky – here is what to do next

About 56% of Canadian and 66% of US households have a pet. They are seen as a part of the family and sometimes really treated like family complete with extra snacks, holiday meals and lots of treats. All of the extra love sometimes makes the pets a bit chunky.  Here is what to do if your pet is overweight.

Visit the vet

Before you panic and submit your dog to a strict diet, it’s important to visit your vet and see what they have to say. Instead of telling you to feed your pet less, your vet will likely suggest a meal plan you can follow and some healthy habits to incorporate into your pet’s lifestyle. Your vet should give you a realistic weight goal to achieve, alternatives for treats and foods and a follow up consultation in order to check on your pet’s progress.

Get your pet to move more

While diet is the most determinant part of any weight loss program, exercise is also important, helping your pet stay healthier and preventing plenty of negative side effects and diseases from popping up. If you have a dog be sure to go on longer walks, to take them on runs, and to spend some time at the park with other dogs, so they can play. If you own a cat you have to make your home more entertaining for them and spend a good amount of time playing together.

Measure food

Just like it is for humans, dieting is easier if you just measure the amounts of food. Be sure to follow your vet’s plan and to split up the calories according to the amount of meals and treats you plan to give your pet on a daily basis. If your pet is small, weighing everything is even more important, since one small change can greatly affect their weight.

Learn to reward your pet with things other than food

All pets are obsessed with food and that’s understandable, but try to incorporate other things that excite them as part of their reward system. Throw them a ball or a toy instead of giving them a treat when they’re whining; most of these times your pet is looking for attention.

Pet obesity often says more about an owner’s relationship with their pet than the animal itself. Susan Schmitz/shutterstock.com

Be strict with their feeding schedule and habits

There are many tools that can help your pet have a better relationship with food. Puzzle feeders will entertain them and make them eat slower, tiring them out and preventing vomiting or feeling bloated. Instead of leaving food for your pet so they can eat it whenever, give them their meals on fixed times of the day.

Data Says People Wear AirPods At An Intimate Time

0

It’s estimated over 150 million units of AirPods have been sold so far. And over 100 million people are using them right now. Apple has made another fortune with these mini devices and people are scooping them up and leaving them in all sorts of places.  You see people looking as if they are chatting themself on the street, in restaurants, all over. They have almost become part of the body.  In fact, data says people wear AirPods at an intimate time…THE intimate time.

Take a minute to mull that over.

TickPick, an online ticketing service, conducted a survey of 1,000 people who are sexually active and interested in music. While TickPick doesn’t sound like the most reliable source of scientific information, they discovered that 17% of participants like to keep their little pods in when having sex.

Other fun information includes:

  • Pop fans, the majority of them belonging to the youngest demographic surveyed, were the least likely to be satisfied in bed.
  • Nearly 80% of people with the same musical taste as their partner were satisfied with their sex lives. They had sex an average of eight times per month.
  • 43% of people who had different musical tastes as their partners claimed to be unsatisfied with their sex lives. They had sex an average of six times per month.
  • Fans of indie rock were more likely to be into BDSM.
  • Fans of heavy metal were the most likely to use contraceptives while fans of country were the least likely, with only 49% of them taking precautions.

No matter your thoughts on this survey and all of these interesting bits of data, you should still be shocked over the fact that 17% of people keep their AirPods in during sex. This knowledge gives a whole new meaning to all of those AirPod memes.

People are really out there doing what they want. And you can bet Apple is thrilled with this tidbit of free marketing. Those little devices really do stay put as we can tell since data says people wear AirPods at an intimate time

CBD Oil And Stress For Pets

0

The absence of THC combined with the presence of rich cannabidiol compounds won’t make your dogs high.

In the US and Canada, over 60% of own a pets. But did you know dogs and cats can become stressed because they are bored, frustrated, scared or anxious. What do you need to know about CBD oil and stress for dogs?

Subtle signs your dog and possibly cat might be stressed include:

  • yawning – unless your dog is tired
  • panting – often with a curled tip of their tongue instead of relaxed
  • pacing back and forth
  • licking their lips
  • ears pinned back
  • dilated pupils or red around the eyes

What To Know Before Using CBD To Treat Pet Travel Anxiety
Photo by R+R Medicinals via Unsplash

Cannabidiol is one of the most active compounds found in hemp plants. You can learn more about this on here. Many studies have found out that it can balance the bodily functions of many mammals. When CBD stimulates the endocannabinoid system present in both humans and animals, it can help the body regain homeostasis.

Many pet owners administer cannabidiol to their furry friends because they find that the extract can help with many ailments. Some of the medical conditions in animals that CBD can provide relief for are anxiety, joint pains, backaches, cancer symptoms, seizures, digestive disorders, social withdrawal, stress, insomnia, irritability, mood disorders, and more.

During the recovery phase from surgery, a lot of pet owners have found that CBD seems to stimulate healing, and it has therapeutic benefits for many of our furry friends. At the end of your pet’s life, cannabidiol can also lessen the suffering, anxiety, and pain that your beloved canine or feline may be experiencing. You can learn more about CBD oil’s other benefits at HolistaPet where you can get more information about CBD oil’s potential uses. Some products are exclusively made for pets, so you may want to look for those as well.

About the Endocannabinoid System

A network of receptors is present in the endocannabinoid system, and it is found in the human and animal body.

The body synthesizes endocannabinoids so that homeostasis can be maintained. A stable environment inside the body means that your pet is healthy.

Cannabidiol has phytocannabinoids that interact with the receptors. Today, two types of receptors have been identified, and they are the CB1 and CB2. The CB1 receptors are mainly present in glands, the brain, organs, and the nervous system. The CB2 exists predominantly in the immune system and other regulatory cells in other parts of the body.

One of the ECS’s primary functions is to regulate inflammation by controlling the response of the immune system. There are times when the overactive killer T-cells in an animal’s body become uncontrollable, which can trigger auto-immune problems. On the other hand, an underactive response to infection can make the body a target for cancer cells’ growth.

Is CBD Safe for Pets?

Marijuana and hemp are both classified as the same plant. However, they are very much different from each other. Marijuana can be high in tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), and your pet may experience adverse effects when consuming this product. They can be intoxicated or stoned if you give them the wrong product, which is better to avoid.

RELATED: The Evolving Relationship Between Cannabis & Modern-Day Veterinary Medicine

On the other hand, there’s CBD. CBD from hemp extracts won’t make the animals high. Instead, it has no adverse side effects, and your canines will feel more relaxed and relieved. Marijuana can contain more than 30% THC, while hemp has less than 0.3% of this psychoactive substance.

The absence of THC combined with the presence of rich cannabidiol compounds won’t make your dogs high, and they won’t experience any side effects in the process. Hemp crops are not considered controlled substances in countries like the US. This is why CBD products are legal in almost all 50 states of the US.

What Should You Choose for Your Pet?

CBD can be bought in many forms. The common types of extracts are the oil, and it’s sold in many pharmacies and online stores. You can incorporate the oil into your furry friend’s diet and see if there are improvements. Bottles often come with droppers so that you can put some drops on the paws or ears so that it can be easily licked off. You can also choose capsules, balms, and biscuits that are infused with CBD.

Gen Z’rs upending things including weed and voting

0

Being born between the years of 1997 and 2012, individuals in Gen Z are now between 11 and 26 years old. Many are now entering the full-time workforce and increasing their purchasing power and influence.  Already they are making their tastes know. Gen Z’rs upending things including weed and voting, they are making changes in weed, alcohol and politics.

They don’t know a life before the internet, love retro looks, and are the most ethnically diverse generation ever. And in a survey, nearly half of said they’d like to own their own business. Very different from Boomers who were taught to find a good job and career and stick with it.

When it comes to marijuana, they are setting trends and may change what consumer cannabis looks like. Gen Z’s weed purchasing habits grew by 127% in 2020. Nearly 25% of 18-to-29-year-olds (US) are more likely to smoke cannabis compared to older generations. Gen Z and Millennials are driving the second biggest revenue maker which is vaping. Joints are fading in the young set as they are not as “on the go” and discreet. Vaping and gummies are perfect for an active lifestyle with a need a variety of dosages to fit the time of day.

Gen Z grew up with changing attitudes including a focus on heath, cleaner air, bottled water and a balanced lifestyle.  They begin to see marijuana as a staple and not a sin.  Around 93% of Gen-Xers agree that cannabis use has many health benefits and can be good for the mind and body. There are also gently moving away from an alcohol based environment.

A Pew Research report showed that 70% of Gen Zers believe the government should do more to solve problems. A February 2021 study said 66% of Gen Zers disagree that the government has done its best to protect the country. One in ten voters in the 2020 electorate was part of this generation, and the numbers will be increasing as more Gen Z individuals come of voting age..

A large cohort of legalization supporters are people ages 18-29, regardless of party affiliation. 78% of Millennial Democrats and 71% of Millennial Republicans agree on the point that cannabis should be legal. This is a big difference from old Republican voters.  And it is a signal of other thoughts around inclusion, taxes, and social need policies.

Vivek Ramaswamy is proposing a constitutional amendment that would require citizens 18 to 24 to pass a civics test in order to vote — the same one immigrants take to become naturalized U.S. citizens.

According to Teen Vogue, the GOP is recognizing young voters have recently turned out in high numbers, and in overwhelming support of Democrats. Now, Republicans are ramping up efforts to suppress youth voting access ahead of the 2024 election cycle.

In Idaho, Republican governor Brad Little signed a bill that prohibits students from using a student ID card as a form of voter identification. In Ohio, out-of-state students could be impacted by a new bill that requires voter ID in the form of an unexpired in-state driver’s license, state ID, passport, or military ID card.

Each generation brings about change, Gen Z’rs have started on their journey quickly!
