Are Your Period Cramps Killing You? Meet Livia, An ‘Off-Switch’ For The Pain

All women are familiar with the dread that comes when that time of the month is near. You know what we’re talking about. There are different degrees of period cramps and pain, but even if your period is super chill and not that impairing, it still sucks.

With Livia, you can get rid of all those pills and heating pads because this device acts as an “off-switch” for period pains and cramps, providing instant and drug-free relief. This magic happens due to Livia’s ability to stimulate nerves making the pain go away before you can even feel it, all in a natural and safe way. Livia is easy to use and it consists of two small sticky pads and a device that’s in charge of emitting the necessary vibrations for your pain to stop. Livia’s methodology is based on the “gate control theory” and it works by attaching the sticky pads to the area of your body that’s in pain and creating a pulse that’ll keep your nerves occupied and unable to process and transmit the pain stimulus to your brain.

Livia’s effects last as long as you’re wearing it and, unlike pills, your body won’t develop a tolerance. The device’s battery lasts about 15 hours and is rechargeable, small and discreet, which means that you can carry it around everywhere and use it on the go.

Livia is a startup so if you think that this project is worth your money you can back them on their indiegogo page. If you’re still unconvinced, you can watch their video below which explains things further.

OMGhirardelli! Krispy Kreme Just Unveiled Two Limited Edition ‘Luxury’ Chocolate Doughnuts

0

Not to be outdone by their St. Patrick’s Day stunt, Krispy Kreme is keeping the momentum going by dropping two new doughnuts in partnership with chocolate giant, Ghiradelli: Mint Chocolate and Sea Salt Caramel.

Now, you don’t have to chose between fried dough and candy for breakfast. You can have both!

https://www.instagram.com/p/BSRVFT9BKLo

Both doughnuts are inspired by Ghiradelli’s popular chocolate squares. The Sea Salt Caramel doughnut is filled with salted caramel filling, dipped in chocolate icing, drizzled with both the chocolate and caramel icings, and topped with a blend of amber sugar, salt sprinkle, and Ghirardelli mini chocolate chips.

The Mint Chocolate doughnut is  filled with “White Mint Kreme™” filling, dipped in chocolate icing, decorated with green icing (the true sign of mint) and topped with Ghirardelli mini chocolate chips dusted in powdered sugar. The icing on both doughnuts is made with Ghiradelli.

The bummer news about these two new flavors is that they’re available for a limited time only.

In other parts of the world, lucky Krispy Kremers are treated to candy bar flavors like Kit Kat:

Inside The Real Estate Boom, Powered By Legal Marijuana

0

As legal marijuana continues to gain traction, it’s bringing another economic force up with it: The next real estate heyday.

The New York Times calls it a “real estate boom, powered by pot.”

Commercial real estate developers say they have never seen a change so swift in so many places at once. From Monterey, Calif., to Portland, Me., the new industry is reshaping once-blighted neighborhoods and sending property values soaring. In some Denver neighborhoods, the average asking lease price for warehouse space jumped by more than 50 percent from 2010 to 2015, according to an industry report. In the city over all, there are five times as many retail pot stores as stand-alone Starbucks shops.

“This is a new segment of the industrial real estate market that is being created in front of our eyes,” real estate executive George M. Stone told the New York Times. “It’s a huge industry and only getting bigger.”

So far, legal weed seems like a win-win for everyone involved, from tenant to landlord. Owners can charge growers above-market for warehouses that require little maintenance, landlords can sublease these fixtures out, and growers can sell all the weed they can grow and afford the higher rent. Instead of dilapidated buildings and factories, community economies get jobs and new businesses — especially since the weed must be grow and sold all within the same state.

There are, of course, risks to this growth: If the federal government steps in to crack down on legal marijuana, all of this investment could be for naught. But for now, cannabis companies and landlords are growing together and reaping the benefits.

Nebraska Seriously Considering Medical Marijuana

Although Nebraska was one of the primary states behind a 2014 lawsuit against Colorado’s legal cannabis trade, state lawmakers are now pushing for legislation aimed at legalizing a basic medical marijuana program.

A bill introduced earlier this year by State Senator Anna Wishart called the “Medical Cannabis Act” is being given some serious consideration in the halls of the Nebraska Legislature. The proposal would allow patients suffering from a variety of health issues, including glaucoma and muscle spasms, to have access to certain cannabis products. The bill would not, however, permit patients to smoke marijuana or engage in home cultivation.

The Medical Cannabis Act made its way out of committee last month and now heads to the Senate floor for another round of debates. Although the proposal comes with the usual opposition, specifically the Nebraska State Patrol, Wishart says she is “optimistic that members will listen to their constituents who are desperately asking them to legalize this form of treatment,” according to a report from the Omaha World Herald.

If the proposal goes the distance, making its way through the legislative grind and signed into law by Governor Pete Ricketts, the state’s medical marijuana program would be launched in the summer of 2018 – being overseen by the Department of Health and Human Services. It is this agency that would be responsible for establishing the patient registry, which would only be made available to those patients with a recommendation from a state licensed physician. From that point, qualified participants would be allowed to purchase pills, liquids, oils and vapors from their neighborhood dispensary.

The non-smoking medical marijuana model is becoming increasing more popular all across the United States. Both Minnesota and New York do not permit smoking as part of their respective medical marijuana programs, although there is a bit of a legislative push this year to give patients the freedom to consume their medicine in any manner they see fit.

But the problem with the no smoking plan, as we have seen in both Minnesota and New York, is high production costs for pills and oils is so expensive that it drives up the overall price for patients – many of which are on disability and/or a fixed income. Some patients have reported spending in upwards of $2,000 per month on these types of products.

What makes the situation even worse is the medicine purchased under a state medical marijuana program is not covered by insurance. Not to mention, any patient caught trying to save money by growing their own is still subject to harsh criminal penalties, which in some cases can involve prison time.

Gossip: Will Instagram Censor Cristiano Ronaldo’s Naked Pictures; ‘KUWTK’ Bad Ratings Spiral Continues

Cristiano Ronaldo is now toying with his legion of Instagram fans by hinting at an upcoming nude photo shoot.

He’s posted two new photos that may or may not pass muster with Instagram’s new rules regarding risqué content. One pic accentuates his impossibly muscular back; another finds him lounging on a chair totally naked — though the goods are blocked by someone’s sadistic hand.

Below one pic of Ronaldo looking buff and in the buff, a cryptic caption: “Soon…”

‘KUWTK’ Bad Ratings Spiral Continues: Kris Jenner’s Plan To Fix It

All of Kris Jenner’s evil plots to manipulate the scenes in Keeping Up With the Kardashians have backfired as the ratings continue to drop to historic levels.

According to Nielsen, the pregnancy-themed episode called “Kim’s Last-Ditch Effort” brought in only 1.16 million people. Once pulling in over three million viewers per episode, KUWTK couldn’t even deliver a ratings bonanza for the bombshell episode about Kim’s frightening Paris robbery .

“Kris wants the kids to be featured more on the show. She is begging with Kim to feature North West more on the show,” sources tell NAUGHTY GOSSIP. “Kris thinks Kim should take some time off, away from the spotlight and wants to focus on North.”

Marijuana Products That Don’t Get You High Are Driving The Industry: Find Out Why

A major submarket of the marijuana products industry is cannabidiol. CBD is the part of the plant that is not associated with the side effects of THC, so therefore CBD is usually used for medical reasons and not recreational purposes.

A report by The Hemp Business Journal projects that the CBD market will reach $2.1 billion in consumer sales by 2020, with $450 million of those sales coming from hemp-based sources.

The report reveals that in 2015, the market for hemp-derived CBD products was worth $90 million. The addition of the $112 million in marijuana-derived CBD products were sold through dispensaries and the total CBD market was worth $202 million in 2015.

Others have similar or more optimistic estimates about the industry’s future. Matt Karnes from Greenwave Advisors stated, “In terms of the CBD market size, I estimate an almost $3 billion market by 2021. Right now there are 15 states that allow CBD only – this is in addition to the 28 states plus DC that have legalized medical marijuana.”

A report by Forbes points out there is evidence that traditional cannabis users are willing to give CBD a try. Outco, the largest licensed cultivator in Southern California published data that shows 38% of users and non-users claimed they wanted to learn more about CBD oil.

Grapes Of Wrath: How To Escape The ‘Bermuda Triangle’ Of White Wine

The mythology surrounding the Bermuda Triangle might be exaggerated, but there’s an equal perilous triangle in the world of white wine, one that ensnares many an unwary drinker and leaves them blind to the rest of the world around them. While the grapes that make up this triangle are three of the finest white wine varietals on the planet, they’re not the end-all, be-all for sure. While wine lists might be awash in them, when you step away from Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Gris(gio), you’ll find an incredible wealth of white wine.

If you’re a fan of Chardonnay, you might well find that more full-bodied white wines suit your palate. In particular blends that have lots of Roussanne in them might give you that richer texture you love. Similarly, barrel-aged Viura from Spain can be broad and generous without being cloying.

If you’re a Sauvignon Blanc fan, you probably love vibrant acid and leaner body. Fortunately there’s lots of wine out there aimed at you. If the citrus and minerality is what does it for you, you can get similar notes in Gruner Veltliner, which also often adds a white pepper element. If you’re more just into screaming acidity, look at Vinho Verde and Txakoli. One of my favorite alternatives is Chenin Blanc, which may have a bit more of an apple and pear note, but definitely also delivers that racy finish. Dry styles of Riesling, which have become far more popular in the last decade, can also give you that kick in the teeth you like.

When it comes to Pinot Grigio, affectionately (or not) referred to as the beige of the wine world, the challenge is finding wines that are nondescript enough to fit the bill. Muscadet from the Loire Valley (made from the Melon de Bourgogne) grape often does the trick, as can Albarino from Spain, though that often has at least some floral components.

For all the snark, each of those three varietals I mentioned at the top have their time and place, and in some cases can be breathtaking good. That said, if you find yourself reflexively ordering them time and time again, maybe now’s a chance to escape from the trap.

Space Scientists Say They’ll Be Using Pee To Grow Food On Mars

0

Space travel used to be considered science fiction or a distant possibility in the future of our grandchildren. Lately, the development of its technology has become a topic that’s regularly discussed in media and in real life, taking us closer to the moment where traveling to another planet will become as common as traveling internationally (slight exaggeration there). What we used to consider sci-fi may very well become an inevitability.

There are tons of scientists and smart people conducting researches and studies on space travel, be that for colonizing the moon or for finally landing a spacecraft on the Red Planet. The research that’s being done on Mars is particularly interesting because it would set in motion the first space mission where humans will travel to another planet. But don’t cheer just yet, we’re still leagues away from reenacting ‘The Martian’.

German scientists are trying to develop a self-containing food supply source for Mars through the use of urine and sweat. Yep. These bodily fluids will be required for growing food in space, a must for such a long space trip. These plans are currently being developed by a team of scientists led by Jans Hauslage, a plant physiologist from the the German Aerospace Center, and they include a urine tank and a tomato plant.

The objective of these plans is to recreate the closed biological system that exists on Earth that allows plants and animals to help each other, enabling life as we know it.  This research will be using synthetic and biological urine in its tests and will determine what works best for growing food and resources on Mars. Space.com reported that the research, with two miniature greenhouses, will be launched into space later this year.

Do we want to travel to space? Sure. Do we want to drink our own pee in order to do so? Nope.
