HBO Responds To ‘Game of Thrones’ Starbucks Cup; Brad Pitt Laughs Off Jen Anniston Romance Question

HBO Responds to Game of Thrones Coffee Cup

Via Esquire:

Eagle-eyed viewers of Game of Thrones noticed a modern-day to-go coffee cup sitting near Daenerys in a scene from the fourth episode of Season Eight.

Our theory is that actress Emilia Clarke is the owner of the coffee cup, which must have indeed been coffee, although likely not from Starbucks by the looks of it.

Game of Thrones art director Hauke Richter told Variety that the mistake had been “blown out of proportion.”

“Things can get forgotten on set,” he wrote.

Now HBO has responded to the infamous cup with a statement that reads:

“The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea.”

Brad Pitt played it coy when asked if he and  Jennifer Aniston would get back together

Via Radar Online:

Pitt, 55, was out and about in Los Angeles on May 3 when the question to the star was caught on camera.

The good-natured actor’s response?

“Oh my god,” he said with a laugh and smile before adding, “Alright, have a good one!”

As RadarOnline.com recently reported, Pitt was caught celebrating Aniston’s fiftieth birthday with her at the Sunset Towers in February.

Aniston and Pitt were Hollywood’s golden couple until their divorce in 2005, the result of the World War Z star cheating with his now-estranged ex, Angelina Jolie.

‘Avengers: Endgame’ And ‘Game Of Thrones’ Highlight What’s Wrong About Spoiler Culture

Last Sunday I had a late flight, making me miss a pivotal “Game of Thrones” episode. The minute the plane landed, I decided to cut myself off from all social media outlets, at least until the following Monday night when I had the time to catch up on the show. For an entire day I was walking to and fro with my headphones on, terrified of accidentally hearing someone’s conversation or of catching a glimpse of a spoiler on someone’s laptop.

Big cultural moments like the conclusion of the decade-long Avengers saga or the eight years we’ve spent crying and cheering over the fate of Starks and Targaryens have brought spoilers to the forefront of everyone’s minds. Our constant presence online only heightens this paranoia.

Spoilers have always existed, but it’s only recently that creators have started to comment on these issues, releasing heartfelt statements that beg people to protect their intended experience, as if a spoiler was enough to make or break something that has been years in the making.

This month is an exemplary one for spoiler culture and all that’s wrong with it. A week ago, a man in Hong Kong was beat up after watching Avengers: Endgame and loudly discussing key parts of the plot while standing outside the movie theater. Granted, that’s a very annoying thing to do, but it’s still shocking that it’s even happening in the first place.

Studios and developers behind these monster franchises have some responsibility over this problem. HBO and Marvel have ensured that their marketing relies on misdirection and spoilers, cleverly guiding viewers a little off the mark in order to pull the rug from them the minute they sit down to watch the final product. If you’re unlucky enough to stumble upon a spoiler, then your viewing experience is a different one, diminished in a way.

Knowing a key moment of a film or a show shouldn’t make or break your entire experience of it. By that criteria, no one should continue to enjoy Star Wars or the Harry Potter movies. Good storytelling should rely on more than a twist, but audiences and creators seem to be forgetting that, focusing on the big shock instead of consuming and making stuff that’s compelling despite all of the noise.

Weed Makes Seth Rogen ‘So Smart, So Focused, So Creative,’ Say Charlize Theron

Anyone who’s ever enjoyed a smoke session in a college dorm room likely had a philosopher guy in their group. He was the dude who, as soon as he lit up, would begin rhapsodizing about Nietzsche or the consequences of Einstein’s Theory of Relativity. Memorably, this moment was captured in Richard Linklater’s 2016 film Everybody Wants Some!!

“What is language? Language is a construct man, you know,” says Wyatt Russell’s Willoughby in the film, like he’s the first guy who ever said this ever.

In Hollywood circles that guy is apparently Seth Rogen, according to Charlize Theron. During an appearance on The Tonight Show to promote the pair’s new rom-com Long Shot, Fallon unsurprisingly brought up Rogen’s weed habits. “He comes across as a stoner but he really puts a lot of thought into everything,” said Fallon.

Theron went on to praise Rogen’s understanding of story structure and writing, adding, “and then he lit a joint and took a hit off it. And it was like I was in the presence of Einstein. It was off the charts.”

Apparently when Rogen smokes weed, “he gets so smart, he gets so focused, he gets so creative. On days I would literally follow him and [beg him,] ‘Please smoke. We need a hit. We need this movie to be great, please.’”

So to all you wise guy stoners at there, you should now recognize Seth Rogen as your philosopher king. Or something like that.

Is CBD Effective In Treating Toothaches

The effect of cannabidiol (CBD) has been widely embraced by all sorts of industries for the compound’s ability to provide relief against inflammation, pain, skin afflictions and stress. There’s a substantial amount of evidence that suggests CBD could also help people cope with tooth aches and dental afflictions.

While there have been no studies that look into the specific relationship between tooth aches and CBD, there is a lot of evidence — both anecdotal and scientific — that documents CBD’s power against inflammation, pain and bacteria, which are all important factors when it comes to dental health.

One study looking into cannabinoids with anti-inflammatory properties a lot of positive effects to CBD, being capable of controlling pro-inflammatory cells and reducing swelling and pain. Another study found antibacterial properties on CBD oil, making it capable of killing staphylococci and streptococci bacteria, both responsible for spreading infections and diseases.

Green Flower Botanicals says that full spectrum hemp oil has also been linked with pain relief, putting a temporary stop on tooth aches, stating that “when it comes to pain related to inflammation, hemp oil is one of the safest and most potent healing tools at your disposal.”

Dental surgeon Mark Burhenne says he recommends CBD oil for some of his patients to  calm the anxiety that comes with a visit to the dentist and speeding up the healing process of those who underwent dental surgery. “Besides relieving “going to the dentist anxiety,” I suggest my patients use CBD oil for pain, which is often caused by inflammation from dental work. CBD is one of the most powerful anti-inflammatory compounds in the world and generally causes zero side effects. You can’t say that about any medication prescribed for pain!” he explains.

While all of this evidence paints a great picture for CBD and oral health, it’s important to remember that no official studies have been conducted and that negative side effects have been found. For example, smoking marijuana has long been related to dry mouth, an issue that prevents the production of regular amounts of saliva. When it comes to mouth wounds, saliva is extremely important for the healing process, maintaining bacterial growth under control and contributing to gum and teeth health.

Jim Belushi: Marijuana Would’ve Saved My Brother

Jim Belushi’s transformation into a blue-collar weed farmer over the past couple years renders as one of the more intriguing instances of celebrities entering the cannabis industry. Other high-minded stars who also have become marijuana moguls like Snoop Dogg, Seth Rogen, or even Willie Nelson have been loud and proud about their cannabis love for decades-plus.

But Belushi’s more subdued, underground, content to run his weed farm without any special attention. Only after two years of market testing and careful curation selling his weed, did Belushi even decide to put his name on his product. And Jim believes that product could’ve saved the life of his brother, comedian and “SNL” powerhouse John Belushi.

“I think what we know about marijuana today, if we knew in the ’70s, a lot more people would be alive, including my brother,” Jim Belushi told The Stranger. “Danny Aykryod said, ‘If your brother John was a pothead he would be alive today.’”

“The medicine of marijuana will help prevent the collapse of families,” he added. “I came from a collapsed family and the trauma of John’s death, you could imagine, and I’ve always been in search of family because of it. And this family of marijuana cannabis people is a terrific family. They’re all being led by the plant.”

Belushi also admitted he’s actively trying to separate his canna-business from what the rest of celebrities who get into the industry. Though that takes more time, he believes it’s worth it in the long run.

“The difference between me and the men you just mentioned, all beautiful men by the way, is they are white labeling,” he said. “I am growing it. I am curing it. I am flushing out the irrigation to make sure the ash is white. I’m pruning it, I’m trimming it. And now I’m marketing it.”

Belushi’s also a strong advocate for the plant as medicine in people’s lives. While he only smokes his vape pen three times a week—though he uses CBD daily—Belushi doesn’t shy away from his belief that cannabis can assist in way not immediately apparent to those looking at the cannabis world from the outside-in.

“The wellness of cannabis is great for helping Alzheimer’s, people struggling with PTSD, people struggling with trauma,” he said. “The number one fear of life is death and the second is the collapse of family. Many people come from collapsed families, whether it’s divorce or a disease in the family that broke the family up, whether there’s a death like in my family, a loss of business, all of these people need some kind of medicine.”

Using CBD To Cope With Festival Anxiety

For the 18% of Americans dealing with an anxiety disorder, stressful situations can trigger intense and difficult to manage symptoms. While an individual with ochlophobia — an irrational, debilitating fear of crowds — may choose to avoid festival season altogether, this level of fear only affects a small number of people. But what about using CBD to cope with festival anxiety.

Instead, there are many individuals who have moderate anxiety who don’t want their mental health disorder to limit how they experience the world; they want to attend music festivals, but they want to be able to chill out enough to enjoy themselves.

Some might reach for marijuana, but this honestly isn’t the right choice for everyone. It is pretty well know that THC can actually make anxiety and paranoia worse in a small group of people. This means that, if you know this is how weed affects you, you should probably avoid it during festival season. And, if you’ve never actually tried to marijuana in a large crowd and you’re not sure how you will respond, it might be better to avoid trying it for the first time in a triggering situation like a music festival.

Manage Anxiety Without the High

The good news is that there is another cannabis product that can be use to manage anxiety. Cannabidiol doesn’t create a high like most marijuana products, but still has many impressive medicinal benefits. One such benefit is decreasing the symptoms of anxiety.

RELATED: 7 CBD Skincare Products That Will Change Everything

In 2011, research published in the journal Neuropsychopharmacology observed a significant improvement in anxiety caused by public speaking. Additionally, a 2019 animal study observed showed improvement in the behaviors associated with anxiety in rats who were dosed with CBD.

More studies of the effect of CBD on anxiety are in the future. Until then, there is convincing anecdotal evidence that this a product that is effective in many individuals with anxiety. In 2018, a Cannabis and Cannabinoid study found that anxiety reduction is one the top three reason individuals use CBD regularly. In this anonymous survey, 36% of respondents said that CBD “worked very well” for their intended purpose when taken alone.

How Does CBD Work?

Like so many areas of cannabis research, we don’t know as much as we would like to about how CBD improves anxiety. We hope that the legalization of marijuana and further education will reduce the stigma associated with these products and encourage more research in the future.

For now, what we know about the relationship between anxiety and CBD is that CBD effects how the brain responds to serotonin. This neurotransmitter plays an important role in mood management, which is the basis of SSRIs commonly used to treat anxiety and depression.

Specifically, CBD seems to improve how a serotonin neurotransmitter called 5-HT1A is processed in the brain. Although these effect has only been observed in rats so far, the hope is that human studies will soon follow and mimic the same results.

Finding the Right Dosage of CBD for Anxiety

Because there are variations in the strength of CBD present in different products, it’s a good idea to start with a small dose. Many products do have a recommended dose, and this is a good place to start. One Medium resource connects CBD dosage with body weight, saying that a suggested dosage can be calculated by taking 1 to 6 mgs of CBD for every 10 pounds.

RELATED: Topical CBD: The FDA Stance On Hemp Derived CBD In Cosmetics

The good news is that there are few side effects associated with CBD and it consider to be very safe for consumption. This means that most people can make adjustments to their dosage until they experience relief. That being said, one sign that you’re taking too much CBD is that you begin to experience side effects like fatigue or diarrhea.

Because it might take a few tries to find the right about CBD, we recommend trying it for the first time before you head to an event that triggers anxiety. Give yourself time to find what works for you so you can relax and enjoy yourself at your next music festival.

What TSA Does When They Find Marijuana

Flying with weed will remain problematic until the federal government ends the prohibition standard.

When it comes to getting through airport security with marijuana, there is a mixed bag of information. Some supposed toker travel experts say that flying with weed is as easy as stowing small amounts in checked luggage, while others argue it is best to keep the stash discreetly in a carry-on. Here is what TSA does when they find marijuana.

No matter which advice a person chooses to embrace, rest assured they will start second-guessing it while standing in line waiting for their turn to show the TSA agent their ticket and photo ID. Then, even though they are only carrying enough weed to roll a small joint, they’ll nearly have a panic attack by the time their luggage hits the x-ray machine. This is when  the nerves really kick into high gear and a series of lunatic thoughts like, “What will they do to me if they find that weed in my suitcase?” and “How much prison time am I looking at when that happens?” takes over and that little voice inside their heads tells them to drop their bags and run for dear life.

RELATED: Flying With Legal Weed: Does The TSA Care About Marijuana?

Whoa! Calm down there, Escobar. It’s not that deep. Sure, The folks at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) are serious about their jobs, which is to prevent idiots, religious radicals and other unsavory characters from boarding airplanes with anything that might threaten the safety of the passengers. But they are not the Gestapo. These people understand that marijuana was never used to commit a savage act of terrorism, nor is it possible for someone to use it to invoke nuclear carnage. Weed is harmless, they get it. So, let’s just say that your rinky-dink marijuana stash is not a top priority.

But you still need to hide it from them.

“Are we cool? We like to think we’re cool,” TSA said in a recent Instagram post. “We want you to have a pleasant experience at the airport and arrive safely at your destination. But getting caught while trying to fly with marijuana or cannabis-infused products can really harsh your mellow.”

“Let us be blunt,” the post continued. “TSA officers DO NOT search for marijuana or other illegal drugs. Our screening procedures are focused on security and detecting potential threats. But in the event a substance appears to be marijuana or a cannabis-infused product, we’re required by federal law to notify law enforcement. This includes items that are used for medicinal purposes.”

Marijuana is now legal in many states for medicinal and recreational use, but it remains illegal under federal law. This means a traveler flying out of California who gets caught with marijuana by TSA agents is not going to face the same kind of hassles as someone flying out of Texas, where it is illegal. So depending on the law, getting caught with pot could mean just having to forfeit the stash before boarding the plane, or getting arrested, missing your flight and spending some time in jail. It is essential for travelers to understand the marijuana laws in the states they are flying in-and-out of – especially if they plan on chancing a dust-up at security over a little marijuana.

“We’re just reminding travelers to always be prepared for what to expect so that they are not caught unprepared or unaware of what would be allowed to pass through at a checkpoint,” Jenny Burke, a TSA spokesperson, told Forbes.

It is equally important for travelers to have a grip on how strict the airports are on the matter. Some of these facilities allow marijuana possession within the legal limits and others will even let travelers take weed beyond the security checkpoint if they are flying within a legal state. There are, however, some airports where their position on pot possession is vague. A few airports in legal states even provide travelers with “amnesty boxes” as sort of a last chance to dispose of weed before going through a security check. But these boxes are rare finds in the United States.

Flying with weed will remain problematic until the federal government ends the prohibition standard. Until that happens, though, smuggling pot through TSA is going to be a little risky. Congress is apparently looking into legislation this year that could lead to legalization at the national level, but for now, flying with weed should be considered illegal. Still, if you are searching for some tips on getting through TSA security checkpoints with marijuana clandestinely, we recommend reading our post “Smuggling A Little Marijuana On An Airplane Is No Big Deal.”

Harry says he and Meghan plan to share more details in a couple of days “as a family to be able to share it with you guys so everyone can see the baby!”.

The couple announced last month that they’d be eschewing the royal tradition of posing with their baby on the hospital steps like both Kate Middleton and Harry’s mom, Princess Diana, famously did.

The royal family just got a little bigger.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their first child,a 7-pound, 3-ounce baby boy!

The announcement adhered to the couple’s intent to keep details around the baby’s arrival under tight wraps. A statement released by the palace earlier last month cautioned that Harry and Meghan planned to share news about the birth only “once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”

The baby’s arrival caps an eventful year for the duke and duchess, who are about to celebrate their first wedding anniversary.

The couple tied the knot last year on May 19 in a ceremony watched around the world. Five months later, Kensington Palace delighted royal fans when it announced that Meghan was pregnant with her first child.

The new baby is the eighth great-grandchild for Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning monarch in British history.

The new royal baby now becomes the seventh in line to the throne, behind his father; three cousins, Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 3, and Prince Louis, who just celebrated his first birthday; Harry’s brother, Prince William, and the baby’s grandfather, Prince Charles.

News about the impending addition for Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37, broke last October as the couple began their first official trip abroad, a two-week royal tour through Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga.

Meghan’s growing belly, or what Harry soon called “our little bump,” became the center of attention at every public excursion. Nearly every cradle of Meghan’s stomach became news. At one period, rumors spread quickly that the duchess was expecting twins.

Becoming parents is the latest milestone for Harry and Meghan, who met in July 2016 on a blind date set up by a mutual friend. The pair kept their engagement under wraps until Kensington Palace made it public a few weeks later.

Amy Schumer, husband Chris Fischer expecting a boy

It’s a boy for Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer.

The comedian revealed the happy news in an Instagram post slamming fast food chain Wendy’s and calling out Chance the Rapper for endorsing the brand.

“Hey! We love @chancetherapper and hate to be the ones to tell him that Wendys is the only fast food chain refusing to protect farmworker women from sexual assault and rape in the fields. This is true,” she wrote alongside a photo of herself with Fischer, 39, in a nursery.

“Please read that sentence again. Message for the people in charge: Instead of spicy nuggets, we want food that is harvested with dignity NOT violence. Please join the @fairfoodprogram and #BoycottWendys link in my bio of how you can help,” the 37-year-old “Trainwreck” star continued.

Days earlier, she shared a photo of her growing bump from a doctor’s office, writing, “Oh yeah does it feel to everyone like I’ve been pregnant for a long time? It must be getting annoying to you all that I’m still pregnant. Well imagine how I feel mother f—ker!!!!!!”

Schumer has been open about the struggles she’s faced with her first pregnancy since announcing in October that she was expecting.

Ask Dr. Green: How Can I Use Marijuana To Deal With Chemotherapy?

Ask Dr. Green: How Can I Use Marijuana To Deal With Chemotherapy?

Dear Dr. Green:

I have been diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer and will begin chemotherapy four weeks from now. Some of my friends who have also battled this hideous disease have suggested I try marijuana to help with the side effects of chemo. What are your thoughts? — Melanie J., Pagosa Springs, Colo.

Dear Melanie:

I am so sorry that you must deal with this dangerous disease. Fortunately, our chemotherapy regimens and anti-nausea medications have improved significantly over the past few decades. The severity of side effects from chemo varies greatly from person to person. Unfortunately there are, however, people who have significant side effects.

When considering any drug to manage side effects of chemotherapy, we have to realize that we do not have a single medication that will manage all side effects.

Some of the potential side effects of chemo for breast cancer include hair loss, nausea, a lack of desire to eat, constipation, diarrhea, chemo brain (with a difficulty to concentrate or focus).

RELATED: Understanding The Marijuana And Chemotherapy Connection

One of the most bothersome side effects is hair loss. This is a painful reminder of the disease and the chemo. Fortunately these are support groups that help people through this. I do not feel the use of cannabis will affect hair loss. There are cooling caps that may decrease hair loss.

There are pharmaceuticals derived from cannabis for nausea already in use in the United States. These complement other pharmaceuticals. In studies we have found that the pharmaceutical agents are generally more effective than cannabis. However there is a group of patients for whom cannabis works better than standard medications. If these standard medications fail to improve your situation, I think it would be worthwhile to consider medical cannabis if you are in a state where this is legal.

A review of 30 studies showed significant improvement with oral cannabis. Inhaled cannabis was not within this review. There are animal studies that show cannabis improves appetite, decreases anxiety and improves sleep. From anecdotal reports we also see that this is true in humans.

There are people who suffer from chemo brain (decreased concentration and focus) while receiving chemo. We also know that some people using cannabis can have difficulty concentrating. In the same review of cannabis for nausea, some side effects were drowsiness, sedation, feeling high, euphoria and depression. All potential side effects need to be kept in mind when trying a new medication.

RELATED: Tell Us Your Story: How Marijuana Helped A Mother With Stage 4 Colon Cancer

Since the cognitive side effects of cannabis may be similar to those of chemo, some practitioners advocate for trying cannabis prior to chemo so that the patient understands the effects of cannabis by itself. There are also preparations with higher percentages of CBD rather than THC, which may have less of an effect on concentration. You should discuss the types of preparations with your medical marijuana provider.

I wish you good luck with your chemo.
