Michelle Obama Reveals Miscarriage, IVF and Marriage Counseling With Barack Obama!

In her upcoming book, Becoming, however, the mother of two shed light on some personal battles she long kept out of the public spotlight.

Among those struggles were her and Barack’s challenges starting a family. As ABC News anchor Robin Roberts reported on Friday, Michelle had gotten pregnant and then suffered a miscarriage.

“I felt lost and alone and I felt like I failed because I didn’t know how common miscarriages were because we don’t talk about them,” Obama said in the exclusive interview with Roberts. “We sit in our own pain, thinking that somehow we’re broken.”

Through in-vitro fertilization, the couple conceived their two daughters, Malia, 20, and Sasha, 17. “That’s one of the reasons why I think it’s important to talk to young mothers about the fact that miscarriages happen and the biological clock is real because egg production is limited and I realized that as I was 34 and 35. We had to do IVF,” she told Roberts. “I think it’s the worst thing that we do to each other as women—not share the truth about our bodies and how they work and how they don’t work.”

Kim Kardashian Forced to Evacuate Her Home Amid Wildfire!

Kim Kardashian was forced to evacuate her home on Thursday night after a wildfire started spreading in California.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star was just returning from a trip when she saw the flames from the window of her private plane. Once she touched down, she had to quickly gather her belongings and head to safer grounds.

“Pray for Calabasas,” she wrote on Instagram. “Just landed back home and had 1 hour to pack up & evacuate our home. I pray everyone is safe.”

Kardashian also shared footage of the police and fire departments responding to the emergency.

“Fire fighters are arriving,” she wrote in another post. “Thank you for all that you do for us.”

Teresa Giudice Hasn’t Had Sex in 2 Years, 7 Months

The Real Housewives of New Jersey star revealed to Andy Cohen the details of her cold bed and lonely nights:

“There have always been rumors that you and Joe were going to get divorced, and now he’s been away and my poor girl has not had sex in a long time ‘cause there’s no conjugal visits,” Andy Cohen pointed out on Wednesday, November 7. Teresa, 46, nodded and responded, “Two years and seven months. I’m counting.”

How Many Calories Do You Burn On A Daily Basis?

“You burn calories by breathing” is a thing people like to say. And it may sound dramatic, but it’s true. Everything you do consumes calories, and the more effort you put into a tax, the more calories you burn. You can burn a good amount of calories just by doing everyday things that don’t demand a lot of movement, like sleeping, cleaning, reading, and studying.

Healthline compiled a list of everyday activities that burn calories and we chose our favorites and most random ones. Check them out.

Sleeping

According to Healthline, a person that weighs 155 pounds burns 23 calories per every half hour of sleep. That’s not a lot but if you multiply that by eight hours of sleep then it results in something like 400 calories. Should we just sleep all the time and give up on life?

Reading

Reading burns 42 calories per half hour. Must be all that activity in your head or the strain it takes to reach for your coffee.

Cooking

This activity burns over 90 calories per half hour, making cooking one of the most calorie-burning-activities you can do that don’t require moving your legs a lot and stepping out into the sunlight.

Gardening

Gardening burns a crazy amount of 167 calories per half hour. That’s an entire can of Coke! All while you’re tending your cute plants.

Playing with kids

Kids are stressful, so it makes sense that a 155 pound person would burn 149 calories per half hour of play time. I guess this number can vary depending on the size and intensity of the child you’re playing with. Also, the amount of kids.

Watching TV

Sadly, you only burn 28 calories per every half hour of TV activity. Even though this number is not surprising, it’s still disappointing.

Sex

The amount of calories you burn during sex depends on the level of activity, gender, and amount of time. Men tend to have more muscle mass, burning around 100 calories for every half hour of action. Women burn approximately 69 calories per session.

Grocery shopping with a cart

The cart is very important here, helping you burn up to 130 calories every time you shop for more than half hour. The super market is a great place to burn calories, being distracting and fun if you’re the type of person who enjoys grocery shopping. Who isn’t?

Walking

Logically, walking for half hour is a decent enough workout, burning over 150 calories. It also depends on your speed, but that’s a pretty good number.

Standing in line

https://giphy.com/gifs/snl-saturday-night-live-season-44-32aQyQNf1I97Mnaj75

Another reason why you should spend more time at the grocery store is that you also burn 50 calories for every half hour you wait in line. Lines are still awful but at least now you know that you’re not completely wasting your time.

Family owned and operated glass blowers since 1991, there are a lot of good reasons to choose Chameleon. For one thing all of their merchandise is made in the U.S. and for another, all of their glass is double blown. It goes beyond that, though. This is a head shop that crosses over into the artisan class. They make character pipes like Rick from Rick and Morty and do customizations as well. There’s even a Santa bowl if that’s the way you celebrate.

Twitter Is Upset Over This Marathon Marriage Proposal

When you’ve trained for the better part of a year to run your first marathon with the hopes of crossing the finish line still alive and able to walk upright, the last thing you want to encounter is an obstacle along the way. Enter a young man who thought mile 16 of 26.2 miles would be the appropriate time to propose to his girlfriend, who was only 10 miles from completing the race.

The question is not, was this a kind gesture? Was this pure love in all its glory? The question, as Twitter reminded us, is: couldn’t this guy have waited at the finish line?

What You Need To Know About Marijuana And Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in women; one in ten will be affected by it at some point. There are a variety of highly successful chemical, radiological, and surgical treatment options. But they’re not particularly pleasant. Moreover, some tumors are resistant and prone to relapse.

Ideally, we would find an effective nonsurgical intervention with minimal side effects. Could such a cure exist, or is it just a tantalizing will o’the wisp?

As remarkable as it may seem, there is reliable and growing for-real evidence suggesting that cannabis can slow the growth of tumors by hindering their ability to hijack blood vessels for their own nefarious purposes (aka angiogenesis), hamper the migration of cancer cells throughout the body (aka metastasis), and actually hasten the death (aka autophagy and apoptosis) of these otherwise uncontrollably proliferating rogue cells. In other words, cannabis really does fight cancer.

Now that we’ve glitter-bombed your eyes with stardust, allow us to wipe some of it away. There is not this one thing called “cancer.” It has many, many forms—each one of which must be studied separately. Success in brain cancer, for instance, may not apply to cancer of the colon. And no studies have been done on living people. Tissue samples and lab mice supply all our data so far.

So, in short, there is no cannabis cancer pill. And we’re not likely to have one anytime soon.

Researchers have documented anti-cancer activity in cannabis since the 1990s. But the big breakthrough in breast cancer came in 2007, when Dr. Sean McAllister showed that CBD, the gentle, non-intoxicating sibling of THC, fights the most malignant forms of the disease by switching off the ID-1 gene. That’s a gene that is furiously active when we are embryos, but, once we’re fully constructed fetuses, it checks out to an early retirement. If the ID-1 gene should wake up later in life, however, which it occasionally does for mysterious reasons, its unwanted labor gifts us with malignant, invasive tumors.

Since the McAllister report, there have been a number of studies confirming and extending its findings. This 2012 review gives an excellent overview, if you’re interested and want to wade through the science. The authors (who themselves have been engaged in extensive cancer research at Madrid’s Computense University) conclude that cannabinoids that work on the CB1 and CB2 receptors (typically that means THC and CBD, respectively) have “anti-tumor activity” but do not harm healthy tissue—at least in test-tube experiments and mouse studies. This position has gained the imprimatur of the National Cancer Institute, which proclaims that the cannabinoid receptors “may be potential targets” in breast cancer.

As the next step toward a full-scale clinical trial, the review authors recommend isolating the most effective cannabinoid or blend of them. This challenge wast taken up by the authors of a 2014 study, which found that a cannabinoid compound with the dystopian sci-fi worthy name 0-1663 was more effective at combatting breast tumors and extending life (in mice) than a blend of THC and CBD.

And that, for the time, is the state of the art of cannabinoid and breast cancer research.

Meanwhile, on the symptom-management front, Sativex, an oral spray that combines THC and CBD, is currently in trial in the US for treating breast cancer pain. (It’s already approved for other uses in Europe and Canada.)

Microdosing Marijuana And Mushrooms To Combat Seasonal Affective Disorder

0

The idea of microdosing marijuana isn’t for everyone or even the majority of imbibers, but it’s the miracle answer for many people who deal with depression, anxiety and the upcoming Seasonal Affective Disorder. Microdosing mushrooms is another way that we open up pathways in our thinking and clear out the cobwebs and has been a popular tool for Silicon Valley innovators.

When the two are paired, microdosing takes on a whole new level of experience. You don’t take a full dose of either, but both doses are somehow enhanced. It’s your basic psychedelic entourage effect. Any magic mushroom eater knows that cannabis can kick your trip into high gear; well this works in a similar way, just on a much smaller, yet very effective, scale.

Ingesting, smoking or vaping small amounts of cannabis stimulate our bodies’ endocannabinoid system and though it usually won’t get one high, per se, it is enough to reset the mind. Same with mushrooms, you’re not going to have melting or breathing walls, but you are likely to add a little sparkle to the day.

When combating something as weighted as SAD, it’s important to treat the herb and fungi as medicine. Find the regimen that works best for you by conducting slight variations on the experiment. A quarter of a gram or even less of ground up mushrooms three times a day is a good place to start and you’re not likely to deviate too far from that dosage and schedule unless consciously deciding to trip.

With cannabis, take a half-pull to a pull off a vape pen or pipe or ingest 2-7 mg of an edible or tincture 3-5 times a day. This microdose will keep that endocannabinoid system chugging along and will build up in the system over time, meaning that the activation and effects come on more quickly as the days and weeks go by.

If you’re still experiencing symptoms of SAD after a week or if you suspect you have something deeper going on than seasonal blues, it’s important that you see your doctor and perhaps take the pharmaceutical route or add therapy to your established microdosing regime. Just take care of yourself and remember that spring is closer than you think.

JK Rowling Sues Assistant For Scamming The S*** Out Of Her

Amanda Donaldson, J.K. Rowling’s former personal assistant, is accused of violating work protocol by making several unauthorized purchases with Rowling’s credit card. According to the BBC, Donaldson spent over $31,000 on different expenses, including two cats and a whole lot of candles.

Donaldson worked with Rowling for a couple of years, starting off in February 2014 until her dismissal in April 2017. She spent over $1,600 on two cats (very fancy ones, apparently), $2,100 on Starbuck orders, and $1,900 on candles. Donaldson duties as personal assistant included the management of fan requests of toys and memorabilia, which she’s also accused of stealing. She’s your average fan girl.

Via The BBC:

Ms Rowling also claims Ms Donaldson, who controlled memorabilia requests from fans, used her position to steal a Harry Potter motorised Hogwarts Express worth £467.56 ($610.22), a Harry Potter Wizard Collection worth £2231.76 ($2,912.69) and a Harry Potter Tales of Beedle The Bard Set worth £395 ($515.52).

Although $31,000 seems like a lot of money for us average human beings, Rowling is worth an estimated $650 billion. Does she really have to sue this poor cat lady and obvious Harry Potter fan? Ok, so she stole some money and that’s wrong, but Rowling can make that back in an hour, tops.

Donaldson denies all of Rowling’s accusations and the case is due back in court later this year.

Marijuana Foe Jeff Sessions Is OUT, But Is That A Good Thing

The cannabis industry expressed relief at the resignation/firing of U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Tuesday, but is it too quick for toast of celebration?   Trump used positive marijuana messaging to punish Sessions in his feud over the Russian hearing. But Trump, a proud teetotaler, hasn’t really taken a strong stand either way.  What has been clear is the closer you are to him the more influence you have. Remember his flip-flop on gun rights after his meeting with the then well-funded NRA?

On Sessions, Marijuana Policy Project’s Mason Tvert stated, “Marijuana policy reforms were being implemented in states around the country and the federal government was generally refraining from interfering. That is still the case, and hopefully it will continue to be the case under his successor.”

Sessions is a long-time opponent to the cannabis industry and has made it a personal mission to keep the public away from a drug he feels is very dangerous. He has encouraged the president to speak out about it and chided him for the lax treatment and comments on marijuana. Sessions lead the repeal of the Cole Memo that wound up being a big nothingburger and business proceeded without a pause.  His whole approach stems from deep-seeded personal beliefs and he has not allowed facts and data to deter him from his mission.

Morgan Fox, spokesman for the National Cannabis Industry Association, said Sessions’ resignation is “welcome news” to the advocacy group. “Hopefully, it marks the end of reefer madness at the DOJ (Department of Justice),” Fox said, adding:

Given that there wasn’t any crackdown following the rescission of the Cole Memo, it might be just business as usual.

Industry insiders have used this period to grow companies, encourage investors and allow the industry to grow leaders like MedMen, GW Pharma and InsysTherapeutics without the oversized influence of giant industry’s like tobacco, alcohol or pharmaceutical companies. Once it is fully legal, those players will have the resources to bring significant change quickly, reaping huge profits for existing conglomerates.

Anthony Scaramucci, former White House Director of Communications, last week suggested President Trump could legalize cannabis after the mid-terms.  Don’t hold your breathe, Scaramucci is also persona non-grata at the White House and there are doubts on his having knowledge of the administration’s thinking.

What we do know is that Matthew Whitaker, the acting U.S. Attorney General, is a known opponent of cannabis, a friend of Trump and his administration, and now someone who can pull levers. Trump tends to let favored leaders do as they please as long as the spotlight doesn’t take away from him.

The white knight hero in the story could turn out to be Congress.  They sent a clear message to Sessions to keep his hands off marijuana, its medical benefits and its revenue. In May, the House Appropriation Committee, one of the most powerful on the Hill, voted to add a provision regarding funding the U.S. Attorney’s office that protected medical marijuana. Congress wants to be able to benefit from the public acceptance and the state taxes on cannabis and doesn’t want to upset the apple cart.

What we do know is that nothing will be clear until the first part of 2019, giving the industry more time to grow, organize and win over more of the public.

What Tuesday’s Marijuana Wins Mean For The Future Of Legalization

The nation woke up Wednesday morning to Michigan legalizing recreational cannabis, letting the green wave into the Midwest, and Missouri and Utah passing initiatives to allow the use of medical marijuana. What’s interesting about Tuesday’s election is that it proved that cannabis legalization has become a non-partisan issue.

“This election proves that U.S. voters are ready and eager for comprehensive cannabis policy reform at the state and federal level,” said Aaron Smith, executive director of the National Cannabis Industry Association. “This is no longer a third-rail issue. Members of Congress need to listen to their constituents, allow states to determine their own cannabis policies, and start treating this burgeoning legal industry fairly.”

The two biggest wins of the day were Michigan, a middle country state that will be a pillar for the surrounding states, and Mormon dominated Utah. Michigan represents a large market and is near Illinois, Ohio, and Indiana, giving them access to additional customers and influence over their state laws. In addition, newly elected Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker wants to legalize Marijuana nearly right away – shortly after his taking office. From a business point of view, this opens up the signature Midwest market in 2019, helping propel the industry to $20 billion in 2021. Michigan and Illinois combined have a population of almost 22 million, a bit more than half of California, the world’s largest market. Full recreational in Michigan and Illinois also makes for a positive social impact considering the strain on the criminal justice system with minor marijuana offenses.

Utah’s vote for medical marijuana highlights the nation’s view of cannabis.  The initiative passed with the tacit support of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the largest political influence in the state. “We are not opposed to medical marijuana” said Marty Stephens, director of government relations for the church to a group of about 20 online influencers on September 29, 2019.

The one loss was North Dakota.  The state-wide campaign was led by a grass roots efforts that was not fully funded and did not offer a clear vision of legalization post-election.  What was learned from Ohio was voters want a clear, fair picture of what happens once they start to walk down the weed road.  Despite this, they managed to receive 39 percent of the vote. A better organized campaign could lead to passage in the next election. Remember, their neighbor South Dakota converted in the Trump 2016 election.

The industry and the public has to be patient. This is not a quick turnaround; there are many factors that play into legalization including how to divide the large tax revenue. But one thing is clear, the general public has moved on and decided cannabis is here to stay.

Missouri Police Not Sure How They Will Deal With Medical Marijuana

Now that the voters in Missouri have decided that medical marijuana should be available to patients suffering from any health condition whatsoever, law enforcement agencies across the state are starting to freak out a little. While police understand there will be people who can legally possess and even grown marijuana for personal use, they are concerned that the new law will make it more difficult for them to enforce prohibition laws for those not affiliated with the program.

The Show-Me State’s approval of Amendment 2 gives way to one of the most lenient medical marijuana laws in the country. What makes it more liberal than others around the country is the fact that it doesn’t come with a specific set of qualified conditions. The law puts this determination into the hands of the physicians.

So, if a patient walks into a doctor’s office and complains about not having a sense of humor unless he or she smokes weed three times a day, they could technically walk away with a recommendation for medical marijuana. The state would then issue that person a medical marijuana card, which would give them the freedom to purchase several ounces of medicinal cannabis a month and grow up to six plants at home.

This makes police nervous.

While most cops in legal marijuana states are often worried about things like policing stoned drivers, Greene County Sheriff Jim Arnott says his concerns run much deeper. He believes the cultivation aspect of the medical marijuana program will allow the state to become a major hub for illegal marijuana trafficking operations.

“What it does is it gives a lot of people the thought that you can just start growing marijuana,” Arnott told the Springfield News-Leader.

Still, Arnott admits that policing pot in Missouri will not be that much of an issue once it gets rolling. Since the health officials will provide every medical marijuana patient with an identification card, determining who should be in possession of pot and who shouldn’t be that tough, he said.

“Once they lay out the regulations, it’s not going to be difficult on the enforcement side,” Arnott told the news source.

Meanwhile, Springfield Police Chief Paul Williams, who has been opposed to the legalization of marijuana since the beginning, questions whether Missouri’s approval of Amendment 2 is really about helping patients.

“I’m not opposed to providing a benefit to people in a medical way, but allowing people to basically grow marijuana and smoke it, I think, is ripe for abuse,” Williams said.

Police in other legal states have been cracking down on illegal marijuana operations. Missouri should be no exception. However, Chief Williams seems a bit misguided in his approach to law enforcement in a legal state. He says his force will continue to arrest people who use the herb illegally.

But considering the nature of the law, anyone in Missouri who wants medical marijuana will be able to procure it through legal sources. Again, patients with any condition can qualify for participation. The focus of police should be lending support to the licensed trade, not busting people for pot. It’s time for Missouri police to reprogram and learn that legal marijuana is not the enemy.
