Seth Rogen Has Regrets About His Homophobic Comedy; Joe Jonas’ Wife Sophie Turner Comes Face-To-Face With His Ex Taylor Swift

Seth Rogen has regrets about the homophobic comedy he did a decade ago

In a new interview with GQ, Rogen recalls fans’ disappointment with some of his lines, like the ‘How I know you’re gay’ refrain from The 40 Year Old Virgin. “I’ve had people come up to me and be like, ‘That made me feel like sh-t when I was in the movie theater and everyone was laughing about that.’ I don’t want anyone to have that experience watching our movies.”

He finds inspiration in Kanye West: “It is a fine line…I remember the truth is at first, people were like, ‘Why you making shoes, man? Just make music.’ And his shoes are great. People love them…So there is something to be said for staying in your lane, but sometimes people do really great outside of their lane. So it’s something that I look at with myself: How much do you expand? How much do you try new things? How much do you spread your wings, or how much do you stay in your lane? It’s a constant modulation.”

Joe Jonas’ Wife Sophie Turner Comes Face-To-Face With His Ex Taylor Swift

Via iHeart Radio:

Sophie Turner had a very surprising encounter with her husband’s famous ex-girlfriend, Taylor Swift.

The Game of Thrones alum and the singer-songwriter looked pretty chill during their pre-taped appearance on The Graham Norton Show, which airs Friday (May 24). So chill, in fact, you’d probably never guess the starlets shared a romantic connection to a certain Joe Jonas. However, telling by the promo pic from their guest spot, the ladies seemed to be all smiles and cordial with one another.

The 29-year-old musician, who sat on the big red couch wearing an orchid-colored dress and long blonde locks, also performed her smash single “ME!” The 23-year-old actress, who sported a coincidentally similar hairstyle as Swift, appeared to promote her new film, Dark Phoenix, alongside co-stars Jessica Chastain, Michael Fassbender, and James McAvoy.

If you can recall, the “Delicate” musician once dated Turner’s hubby all the way back in 2008. Sadly, their short-lived romance didn’t end very well. Swift actually put the Jonas Brother “on blast” that year after he broke up with her over the phone. In retrospect, Swift expressed her regrets about on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, adding that things are better between her and the crooner, who laughs with her about the situation.

As of yet, Swift has been in a serious relationship with actor-model Joe Alwyn. Jonas, on the other hand, recently tied the knot with Turner earlier this month in an informal wedding ceremony in Las Vegas following the 2019 Billboard Music Awards.

This App Prevents Public Groping By Screaming At Molesters

Harassment is such a threat in Japan that the country has introduced women-only train-carriages. Of course, unable to completely solve the ubiquitous problem, these were limited and were met with some controversy. Enter Digi Police. It’s an app that will start screaming if you’re faced with unnecessary attention. Not the most subtle of apps, but very efficient.

“Stop it! There’s a molester. Please help,” yells the app when triggered. The system also releases this same message as text, displaying it in large font and bold orange on your phone’s display.

The Guardian reports that Digi Police has been downloaded more than 237,000 times since it was introduced three years ago. Policemen say that this is an unusually high number for a public service app. “Thanks to its popularity, the number [of downloads] is increasing by about 10,000 every month,” said a police official.

Groping is a very serious issue in Japan, especially in rush hour when the trains are packed and culprits are able to sneak off without being noticed. In 2017 there were more than 900 cases reported to the police. According to officials, this figure represents only a fraction of the reality, since many victims are afraid to come forward with their stories.

Texas (Yes, Texas!) Will Have A Medical Marijuana Program — Sort Of

In a stunning turn of events, the Texas Senate unanimously approved the expansion of the state’s medical marijuana program to include more qualifying conditions and make the process easier for patients. The bill had previously passed in the House and now awaits final legislative approval before heading to Gov. Greg Abbot’s desk for his signature.

Pending those final steps, the Compassionate Use Act, which previously provided low-THC cannabis oil for patients with intractable epilepsy, will now include access for those with autism, terminal cancer, all forms of epilepsy, seizure disorders, multiple sclerosis, incurable neurodegenerative diseases, and more. In addition, the bill as currently constructed would strike the provision that patients need approval from two different doctors and instead will only need one.

“This bill is about compassion,” said state senator Donna Campbell, who sponsored the bill, to The Texas Tribune. “For patients participating in the [Compassionate Use Program], they have had a remarkable and life-altering change because of this. That’s compassion.”

However, the bill represents a small step for medical marijuana advocates in Texas rather than a large one. A THC-cap of 0.5% will remain for all marijuana products provided under the Compassionate Use Act. Nor will those suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) qualify under the bill. Finally, the legislation strikes a previous provision that called for a research program to better understand marijuana’s efficacy for treating these various ailments.

As the Texas Observer noted, this “wasn’t the wide-ranging medical cannabis bill that Democrats and marijuana advocates wanted.” Instead it represents a half-measure that still leaves behind many and dramatically restricts those with the most serious illnesses from receiving the proper medicine.

“This kind of policy should have been one that passed without need for much conversation because of how limited it is,” Heather Fazio, director of Texans for Responsible Marijuana Policy, told the Texas Observer. “We are still disappointed and kind of in dismay that the Legislature continues to fail the most sick Texans.”

A Simple Guide To Making An Investment In Marijuana Stocks

Investing in marijuana stocks represents a great opportunity for even the greenest (pun intended) investor. Here are all the things that potential investors need to know.

By Katrina Hatchett

The role of marijuana in society, and more lately in business, has never been simple, but in recent times this natural product has stepped more and more into the mainstream. Now, in the United States, more than half of the 50 states recognize marijuana for medical purposes, and there is a growing acceptance of its recreational use too (marijuana is now legal in 10 States, as well as DC).

In Canada, marijuana has actually been legalized for recreational use as well as for medical purposes. In the rest of the world, there are countries which have legalized marijuana, decriminalized it, or have relaxed rules with regards to personal use and cultivation. Medical usage is now accepted in about a quarter of the world’s countries, with many more having legalization on the agenda.

What does that mean? As well as advances in the treatment of pain relief and other medical symptoms, and the cultural aspects which surround recreational use, there is now a growing investment industry around marijuana. In fact, investing in marijuana stocks represents a great opportunity for even the greenest (pun intended) investor. Here are all the things that potential investors need to know.

Not all stocks are the same, so choose one that suits your strategy

Every potential investor must, first of all, think about exactly what they want for their investment: this is true no matter you are looking to invest in. Are you looking for a quick pay-day, or are you more concerned with stable growth over a longer period? Investing in marijuana stocks offers all sorts of potential returns, so conduct immaculate research first.

The cannabis industry has grown to such an extent that it now includes a wide-ranging and eclectic assortment of businesses: from hospitals and pharmaceutical companies to concrete manufacturers, believe it or not. Many of these businesses are looking for investment capital, but as you can see they may all share a reliance on one particular product, but that is where the similarities end, so this is far from a catch-all topic.

Use an investment broker and a legal expert

The decision to go with a professional broker may depend entirely on the strategy you wish to employ, plus the size of the investment you want to make. If you are considering putting a major chunk of your capital into marijuana stocks, it is definitely worth getting professional advice, which may also include legal advice on the various regulations which exist. Remember that the US Federal Government still identifies marijuana as an illegal substance, so you need to understand very well what you can and cannot do.

Pay close attention to the market

This is a piece of advice that rings true once more for whatever you may be investing in, but with it being such a delicate subject, you really must keep your ear to the ground with regards legal updates and changes in regulations. Of course, it’s good news for investments if more countries decide to legalize cannabis for both medical and recreational purposes, so you will need to ascertain what the likelihood of that happening is in different territories.

Then there are huge market players who are looking at new ways to use cannabis. For example, drinks giant Coca Cola is examining ways to produce marijuana-infused drinks, so stock prices are sure to been affected by such a move.

“A great piece of advice is to look at the marijuana companies that major companies are investing in because that is usually a sign of a solid investment,” points our Eve Stoddart, a marketer at Write My X and NextCoursework.

Never forget the golden rule

No matter what you are investing in, the golden rule is always to diversify your portfolio. The oft-quoted golden rule is 10%: never have more than 10% of your capital invested in one stock. The same rule applies here.

“The danger with investing in marijuana stocks, a little like cryptocurrencies, is that investors will somehow treat it as ‘different’ due to all the noise that surrounds it. That is a mistake. Look at any investment with the same, objective eye as you would when entering any market,” urges Terry McNeil, a project manager at BritStudent and Australia2write.

VIDEO: Overwhelming Evidence America Should Legalize Marijuana

Few people are as knowledgeable at understanding economic policy and implementing institutional change than Robert Reich. He is, after all, a man who served in the administrations under Presidents Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, and Bill Clinton, while also assisting on Barack Obama’s economic transition advisory board. For his time as Secretary of Labor under Clinton, TIME Magazine named him one of the 10 most effective cabinet secretaries in the 20th century.

So when that guy says it’s time to end the federal prohibition of marijuana, maybe the powers-that-be will finally listen up. Reich points to the overwhelming statistics that demonstrate how criminalizing marijuana is a net-negative for the country. He cites how marijuana arrests outpace those for all violent crimes combined (like murder, rape, and robbery) while referencing research that a federal marijuana tax comparable to those placed on cigarettes and alcohol could pull in $6 billion a year.

“Just as with the prohibition of alcohol in the 1920s, the federal prohibition of marijuana has been unnecessarily cruel, wasting billions of dollar, unjustly harming millions of lives, and furthering racist policies,” Reich says. “It’s time to legalize marijuana.”

Don’t Worry, Teens! A New Study Says Acne Can Predict Adult Success

Apparently, not everything is bad when it comes to acne. A new study says that people who suffered from acne in their teen years went on to have higher grades and better paying jobs than those who didn’t suffer through the physical trauma. Maybe misery makes us all a little more hardworking and humble?

RELATED: What Is The Functionality Of CBD’s Presence In Skincare Products?

The research, published in the Journal of Human Capital, is based on a longitudinal study that analyzed the relationship between acne in middle school and its long term educational and employment repercussions. Over 90.000 people from grades 7 to 12 were sampled and 15,000 of them followed up with results throughout their adult lives.

Teens in the study who had acne reported higher GPAs and higher grades in important subjects like English, math, science and history. They were also more likely to finish their bachelor’s degree. This relationship of teen acne and adult success was stronger when the subjects were female. No matter their race, these women tended to earn higher salaries and to have better grades than their counterparts.

Researchers theorize that acne could be a big influence on teen’s social lives and their perception of themselves. It could negatively impact their self-esteem, making them more isolated, thus, having more time dedicated to their school work. Per Quartz: “Both inside and outside the classroom, the experience of acne seems to encourage young people to put an emphasis on intellectual pursuits.”

As for women, researchers said that this group was particularly influenced by acne because it had a stronger psychological toll on them, an idea that other studies have corroborated.

While this study doesn’t directly say that having acne will make you smarter and more successful in the future, it does imply that there’s a link between the two, which is hopeful enough for young people everywhere. All will be well with your zits.

The Cannabis Industry Has A Swag Problem

Is anyone else tired of marketing swag — branded t-shirts and keychains and pens, for example? These freebies have reached astronomical proportions and has even started its own entire multi billion dollar industry turning out quick prints and foam tchotchkes for any old conference, expo, or company picnic imaginable. The cannabis industry is no different, and in fact may be an even worse offender of pawning off unsustainably made and completely random goods just to get their brand out there.

After all, the marketing restrictions placed on cannabis are numerous, sampling has even been nixed in California, so there are limited ways for cannabis brands to spread awareness, especially at mondo events with dozens of other cultivators or product lines. If you can’t put an ad on Facebook or hand out a free joint to someone already in a dispensary, but you can dole out hats and sunglasses, it may seem like a no brainer.

RELATED: Finding Business Opportunities In The Cannabis Industry

But cannabis knows better. An entire industry corralled for decades by backwards science and racist politicians that is finally getting some legitimate innovation. Cannabis cultivators used to put value in environmental salience, but now the desire to grow capital seems to have taken the lead.

We asked Brad Bogus of Confident Cannabis, a software developer that helps both cannabis businesses and consumers have better experiences. He thinks right now the things that companies provide should be as thoughtful as any other marketing strategy. He told us, “ We want you to walk away with a freebie that you will actually find useful in your daily life. We might see scrutiny from regulatory bodies on what kinds of “useful” swag is allowed; for instance, we may not be able to offer smoking tools or paraphernalia in the future. I doubt it, but I wouldn’t put it outside the realm of possibility.”

RELATED: Study: Suicide Numbers Dropped In California After Marijuana Legalization

Though it’s a semi-viable strategy right now, consumers may hold the cannabis industry to a much higher standard. Bogus said this is all worth considering, “Most companies should consider a swag-free existence. Very few of them actually have people that want their swag, whatever it may be, and it’s hard to strike the right balance between cost, desire, and ROI [return on investment]. Plus, most swag is just garbage, contributing to our never ending waste problem and culture of disposal; these are very important issues to consider. The drawback to making the choice to go swag-free is merely having to figure out other strategies to get your name top-of-mind to your customers.”

Maybe some people like freebies of this nature, but frankly, textile and swag pollution is on par with the throwaway stuff we buy every year to ‘celebrate’ major holidays. It pollutes the earth, it’s often made with unfair labor, and its primary purpose is marketing, not the function of the item itself.

When you add up every doob tube and printed pen, you’re getting piles of plastic and junk that is swiftly catching up with our other wasteful industries. Bogus said that to companies, “It only makes sense to think of your marketing spend holistically, and to know the impact of making the right choices, even if they aren’t the cheapest.”

Cannabis marketing is harder because of the government’s slow progress on cannabis, but it can also be easier because people simply want to buy it. There’s truly no need for all the literal bells and whistles, and it endangers our future.

Olivia Jade Wants To Go Back To USC; Adam Driver Credits Military For His Acting Success

Olivia Jade wants to go back to USC amid scandal

Via Fox News:

Us Weekly is reporting Olivia Jade is desperately trying to return to USC after the college admissions scandal.

Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli’s daughter, Olivia Jade, reportedly wants to go back to the University of Southern California (USC) despite her parents’ role in the college admissions scandal.

Giannulli and Loughlin were accused of paying $500,000 to admissions scam mastermind William “Rick” Singer to get the girls recruited onto the USC crew team despite neither girl being a coxswain. Olivia Jade and sister Isabella’s statuses at the college were put on hold amid an internal investigation into the admissions scam.

“Olivia Jade wants to go back to USC,” a source told Us Weekly in a report released late Monday. “She didn’t get officially kicked out and she is begging the school to let her back in.”

Another source explained, “She knows they won’t let her in, so she’s hoping this info gets out. She wants to come out looking like she’s changed, learned life lessons and is growing as a person, so she for sure wants people to think she is interested in her education.”

‘Star Wars’ actor Adam Driver credits the military for acting success

Via Fox News:

Before the 35-year-old accomplished an impressive acting career involving roles in HBO’s “Girls” as well as “Star Wars” and “BlacKkKlansman” – for which he was nominated for an Oscar – Driver was supporting our country.

“It didn’t seem like a realistic job where I was from, and there wasn’t really a lot of opportunities,” explained Driver. “But the military kind of stripped you away from – I think, even if it is an illusion – being scared of the civilian world.”

He served for almost three years before being discharged due to an injury. He didn’t get a chance to be deployed, Time reported.

Driver said his time in the service helped tear down some of the inhibitions he endured while attempting to pursue an acting career. He even relocated to New York City, convincing himself that if his efforts failed, he’d be OK on the streets.

“You have that kind of like survival mentality in the military,” said the star. “It gives you a lot of confidence going back out into the world.”

To Win ‘Jeopardy!’, Contestants Better Know Their Marijuana And LSD History

If you have any plans to try out for “Jeopardy!”, you should study up on your drug history. Lately, the hit game show that tests the trivia knowledge of contestants has experimented with incorporating some more…chill questions into the mix.

Take this one for example, which was first pointed out by Marijuana Moment. On the episode airing April 9 of this year, host Alex Trebek asked what “bitter buds” connected beer to the cannabis family and also provided some essential flavoring to the liquid. The first contestant answered incorrectly “hemp.”

RELATED: ‘South Park’ Made A Song About Legal Marijuana Farms

Quickly, super champion and professional sports gambler James Holzhauer buzzed in and correctly answered “hops.”

Then there was this question on April 22 about the first legal sale of recreational marijuana in Denver. The clip’s worth watching just to hear Trebek say, “Bubba Kush.”

And finally, we had a $2,000 challenge question on an episode this month tying to a well-known psychedelic. “In the name of a well-known hallucinogen, it comes before ‘acid diethylamide’.” Once again, Holzhauer came in with the right answer of “lysergic,” as in LSD.

We always knew “Jeopardy!” was a family-friendly show, but who would’ve thought it’d be a drug-friendly program, too?
